In this paper, control schemes are developed for a propulsion system(Converter/Inverter) in electrical train. A robust controller for PWM converter is proposed. The converter controller consists of a PI controller for DC output voltage and a current controller using error-space approach for maintaining the sinusoidal current waveform and unity power factor. This proposed method is based on characteristic ratio assignment(CRA) method which has the advantage to design the optimal gain to meet the referenced response and overshoot within the limit range. Inverter system is controlled by vector control and slip frequency control. At low speed region, vector control scheme is applied to control instantaneous torque and slip frequency control is performed under overmodulation region and one pulse mode. Because output voltage of converter contains harmonics ripple at twice input ac line frequency, control scheme is developed to reduce the pulsating torque current. The performance of propulsion system will be verified by simulation and prototype experimental results.
This paper represent improved On-line Turn off Angle control schemes for switched reluctance motors based on current control. For the purpose of the finding optimal commutation switching angle point, it is utilized him on and turn off position calculation with inductance vs. current vs. flux linkage analysis method. The goal of proposed paper is the maximization of the energy conversion per stroke and maximizing efficiency and obtaining approximately flat-topped current waveform. The proposed control scheme is demonstrated on a prototype experimental system.

As well known, a solar cell has an optimal operating point to be able to get the maximum power $P_{max}$. So, many $P_{max}$ tracking controllers using the line voltage of a solar cell have been popularly used. But it may vary depending on the miss match between the solar cell output and the load. In this paper, we investigate the possibilities of $P_{max}$ control using the current tracking controller and the output voltage and the output current instead of the solar cell output power. And we also examine about the optimal power converter using ZVCS step up and down chopper circuit to operate the solar cell at an optimal voltage using these variables. And then, we show some experimental results to confirm the successful operation.

The final quality of the workpiece is affected by the grinding process that has been conducted in final manufacturing stage. However the quality-satisfaction of ground workpiece depends on the skill of an expert in this process. Therefore, the process models of grinding have been developed to predict the states according to grinding process. In this paper, in order to find the optimized grinding condition to reduce the manufacturing expense and to meet requirements of ground workpiece optimization algorithm using E.S.(Evolutionary Strategy) is proposed. The proposed algorithm has been employed to find the optimal grinding and dressing condition using the grinding process models and nonlinear grinding constraints. The optimized results also presents the guide line of grinding process. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through the experimental results.

This paper shows that we can make simple modifications to an existing optimal power flow(OPF) algorithm that minimizes generation costs in order to solve the maximization of social welfare objective of the OPF in a competitive electric power market. We have illustrated the potential for the use of OPF in light of the marked impacts on nodal prices and generation/demand allocation levels among competing suppliers. This paper can provide all market players with the transparent information that ensures sufficient control over producers and consumers in case of economic of secure operation with transmission line outage while maximizing the sum of participants social benefit of participating in the electricity energy market.
Transmission tower-line systems are commonly slender and generally possess a small stiffness and low structural damping. They are prone to impulsive excitations induced by cable rupture and may experience strong vibration. Excessive deformation and vibration of a transmission tower-line system subjected to cable rupture may induce a local destruction and even failure event. A little work has yet been carried out to evaluate the performance of transmission tower-line systems in mountain areas subjected to cable rupture. In addition, the control for cable rupture induced vibration of a transmission tower-line system has not been systematically conducted. In this regard, the dynamic response analysis of a transmission tower-line system in mountain areas subjected to cable rupture is conducted. Furthermore, the feasibility of using viscous fluid dampers to suppress the cable rupture-induced vibration is also investigated. The three dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model of a transmission tower-line system is first established and the mathematical model of a mountain is developed to describe the equivalent scale and configuration of a mountain. The model of a tower-line-mountain system is developed by taking a real transmission tower-line system constructed in China as an example. The mechanical model for the dynamic interaction between the ground and transmission lines is proposed and the mechanical model of a viscous fluid damper is also presented. The equations of motion of the transmission tower-line system subjected to cable rupture without/with viscous fluid dampers are established. The field measurement is carried out to verify the analytical FE model and determine the damping ratios of the example transmission tower-line system. The dynamic analysis of the tower-line system is carried out to investigate structural performance under cable rupture and the validity of the proposed control approach based on viscous fluid dampers is examined. The made observations demonstrate that cable rupture may induce strong structural vibration and the implementation of viscous fluid dampers with optimal parameters can effectively suppress structural responses.
This paper proposes an expert system, which is able to determine the problem-solving strategy for diversity events occurred on the distribution system. The events include events related to the fault, scheduled outage and optimal operating task such as feeder line fault, line scheduled outage, line overload, system load balancing, system loss minimization, main transformer fault, main transformer scheduled outage, main transformer overload, main transformer protection control. The expert system enhances the reliability of software designed by the integrated concept for the diversity events.

Ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) is an effective method of power generation, which has a small impact on the environment and can be utilized semi-permanently. This paper describes a dynamic model for a pilot OTEC plant built by the Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University, Japan. This plant is based on Uehara cycle, in which binary mixtures of ammonia and water is used as the working fluid. Some simulation results attained by this model and the analysis of the results are presented. The developed computer simulation can be used to actual practice effectively, such as stable control in a steady operation, optimal determination of the plant specifications for a higher thermal efficiency and evaluation of the economic prospects and off-line training for the operators of OTEC plant.
