온라인 게임 캐릭터 복식 색채와 패션 트렌드 색채의 비교 분석 (Comparative Analysis of On-Line Game Characters' Costumes and Fashion Trend Color)

  • The purpose of this study is to come up with ways that cooperate between on-line game design and fashion design by analyzing trend color and on-line game character's costume color in on-line game. As for the research methodology, First, on-line games were selected with reference to www.ranky.com. Second, 2009 SS trend color palettes suggested by Copenhagen International Fashion Fair was used as a criterion of fashion trend. Third, on-line game character's costume colors were analyzed in relation to the degree of reflection of trend and the game character's type. The results are as follows. Each on-line game character costume's colors were made in accordance with typical character types. But we can find a one-to-one correspondence between fashion trend colors and game character costume's colors. That's because both trends and character types are the results of the continuing interactions between human-beings and societies. In comparison with fashion trend colors, game character costume colors are partly raw and inharmonious. Therefore, it is necessary to apply fashion trend color in game character costume design for enhancing competitiveness in the world market.

우리나라 놀이 문화가 대학생 패션에 미친 영향 (Effect of Korea's Entertainment Culture on the Fashion of the College Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how the entertainment culture has influenced the fashion of the college students since the year 2000, and to analyze the fashion trends of those who enjoy their entertainment culture. The entertainment culture is, therefore, perceived in the most sensitive way by the college students, who belong to the latter period of their adolescence, while influencing them. Especially recently, the entertainment culture of the college students has emerged as a new symbol of the overall fashion. And its effect on the fashion has become conspicuous. The 21st entertainment culture is comprised of "club culture", which is an off-line fad, and "on-line game culture". The result of this study is as follows: Firstly, the formative way that the so-called "club culture" influenced the fashion of the college students shows that their overall fashion trends are characterized by a 'caports image' and a 'childlike-amusing image'. Secondly, the formative fashion style, influenced by the so-called "on-line game culture", presents a 'post- structural image' by using heterogeneous material in order to introduce a new point of view, and by transforming the creation style and design. And it also presents a 'homosexual image' by crossing the attractiveness of both genders. This study is baseds on the documents study.

패션을 중심으로 한 온라인 게임과 대중 스타와의 상관관계 (Correlation between On-line Game and Popular Stars - Focused on Fashion -)

  • This study examined on the most noticeable game industry in a digital era, and on the definition and feature of post-digital generation enjoying it, along with the relations with the game. Especially, this paper examined correlations between game characters' fashion and pop singers' fashion targeting post-digital generation enjoying games. As the result of this study, on-line game's popularity affected popular culture and game business and popular stars have close interrelation. In addition, through variosus objective surveys, the game characters' fashion was classified into five images before being analyzed; fighter's image, retro image, surreal image, sensual image, and unisexual image. The game characters' fashion wasn't only analyzed also studied correlation between on-line game character's fashion and pop singers' fashion by five images. Consequently in case of game characters' fashion, it influenced on pop singers' fashion targeting teens and twenties enjoying games, which meant fashion connections between game characters and pop singers.

A Study for Success Factors in On-line Games

  • The last few years have represented a boom for the online gaming industry. Internet-based online games have been an increasingly popular form of entertainment. The gaming industry estimates there will be over 26 million online gaming participants in 2002. The rapid development of online game content and related information technology will increase the size of the industry and have a profound impact on many aspects of our lives and our society. This paper develops the exploratory LISREL model for identifying the factors affecting the players' loyalty to a specific brand of online game. The concepts of flow, word of mouth, feedback, challenge, social norms, and online community activities, etc, are all introduced into the model, as the independent variables directly and indirectly affecting loyalty. Based on data collected from an online survey, the validity of the model has been tested and interesting conclusions have been developed concerning the relationships between loyalty and flow, word of mouth, and other independent variables. It is hoped that this result might provide useful guidelines for developing successful online game content.

온라인 게임 캐릭터에 나타난 신체와 복식의 표현 유형과 미적 특성 (Types of Expression and Aesthetic Characteristics of On-line Game Characters' Body and Costume)

  • This study is to examine the types of expression and aesthetic characteristics of on-line game characters by analyzing those game characters' body and their costume that appear in various domestic on-line game sites. It is shown in this study that types of the human bodies and costume expressed through the game characters are grouped into five categories such as exposure and tightness, enlargement and exaggeration, curtailment and simplification, gender stereotype and unification. Furthermore, there are four typical aesthetic characteristics resulting from those types of expressions; First, 'grotesque' is expressed in the form of extreme enlargement and exaggeration, extreme exposure and concealment, combined images among human, animal or machine, or monstrous devilish images. Second, in an effort to express 'eroticism', bodies are directly exposed, see-through costumes are used in order to emphasize the body lines or very tight designs are used. Third, 'futuristic' characteristics are shown through geometrical shape and silhouette, machine-like details, strong artificial colors or glossy hi-tech material. Lastly, 'pastiche' is expressed with reconciliation of variety of costumes of game characters. Various opposite or heterogeneous styles are combined or harmonized each other to show pastiche, of which examples are male and female, superior culture and inferior one, rich and poor, oriental and western, human and machine, human and nature or past and future, etc.

  • 지식정보화 사회에서 요구되는 인재는 단순히 지식과 정보를 학습하기만 한 사람이 아니라, 체득한 지식과 정보를 활용하여 자발적 또는 협력적 관계를 통해 당면한 문제를 창의적으로 해결할 수 있는 능력을 갖춘 사람이다. 본 연구는 청소년이 온라인 게임을 통해 오늘날 그리고 미래의 지식정보화 사회가 요구하는 역량을 함양할 수 있는 기회를 제공하는 순기능이 있다는 점을 밝히고자 하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구를 통하여 온라인 게임을 통하여 긍정적인 역량이 함양될 수 있으며, 상업용 온라인 게임을 개발할 때, 이용자의 특성에 따라 게임에서 얻을 수 있는 역량이 무엇인지 등급화 하여 표시하도록 하는 제도적 장치가 필요함을 제안하고자한다. 또한 올바른 게임 문화 정착을 위해, 게임 개발 업체와 정부가 주도적으로 협력이 요구된다. 이에 본 연구 자료를 토대로 온라인 게임을 통해 청소년의 역량 함양과 건전한 게임문화 정착을 위하여 온라인 게임 역량지수 개발의 기초 연구 자료로 활용되길 바란다.

A System Algorithm for Recommending User-Customized Games

  • Recently, game companies are having difficulties in exactly figuring out the right consumer groups for their games. To solve this problem, a system algorithm which recommends user-customized games based on the user information entered has been proposed in this study. Game developers will be able to clearly determine the consumer group(s) of both on and off-line games through accumulated data while consumers can find the game they desire. It is expected that the gaming culture will advance further with the proposed algorithm.

  • 최근 전 세계적으로 모바일장치의 확산과 초고속 인터넷의 확장에 따라 모바일게임시장이 더욱 활성화되고 있다. 모바일게임은 기술의 발전과 함께, 이젠 사회적으로 분명한 대중문화로서 자리 잡고 있다. 그러나 기존의 모바일 게임들은 오프라인 형태로 사용자가 한 번 다운 받아 즐기는 게임이거나 온라인 네트워크 모바일 게임의 형태이라 할지라도 배틀 형태의 대전 게임으로만 이루어져 있는 종류의 게임이 대부분이다. 본 논문은 온라인 배틀 게임의 형태와 캐릭터를 육성 시키는 게임의 형태를 혼합하여 두 가지 방법으로 하나의 게임을 즐길 수 있는 한 줄다리기 게임을 제안한다. 따라서 단순한 온라인 배틀 게임이 아닌, 오프라인의 연습과정을 트레이닝 모드라고 정의하여 기존의 모바일 게임들과 차별되는 혁신적인 모바일 게임 모델이라 말할 수 있다. 그러므로 본 논문에서 제안하는 Rope Survival게임은 네트워크 대전게임과 캐릭터의 육성 게임을 동시에 즐기는 게임이라는 측면에서 모바일게임의 연구분야에 새로운 방향을 제시한다.

  • 본 연구는 온라인 게임 세계에서 살아가는 사람들의 삶의 방식을 이해하기 위해 수행되었다. 온라인 게임 마비노기 사용자들이 게임세계 속의 자신의 경험을 어떻게 구성하는지를 82개 행동 문항을 사용하여 확인하였다. 마비노기 사용자들은 각기 다른 방식으로 자신의 게임세계를 보고 있었다. 이것을 온라인 게임 라이프스타일 유형이라 확인하였고, 각각 '자기성장형', '자기표현형', '관계지향형', '고립일탈형', '사회공헌형', '사회이득형' 으로 명명하였다. 각 라이프스타일의 행동 특정과 행동 양식을 비교하여 게임 사용자들이 보이는 게임 행동과 게임 세계를 인식하는 심리적인 의미, 주요 가치가 무엇인지를 확인할 수 있었다. 온리인게임 세계에서 발현하는 리이프스타일은 현실 삶의 모습을 반영하는 것이거나 또 다른 모습이 만들어지는 것이다. 게임 세계에서 게임 사용자들이 자신의 리이프스타일을 만드는 과정은 디지털 기술로 구현된 또 다른 디지털 생태환경에서 인간의 삶에 새롭게 출현하고 진화하는 문화적 현상을 보여준다. 이런 측면에서, 온라인 게임 세계는 가상의 세계가 아니라 각 개인이 자신의 삶을 표현하는 자아를 강조하면서 집단의 문화가 형성되는 새로운 생태환경이라고 할 수 있다.

VIDEO GAME CULTURE AND INTERACTIVITY -An exploration of digital interactive media through a metaphorical approach to video game culture-

  • This research is focused on defining interaction within the context of digital media and creating a multi cultural definition of interactivity. The concept of multi digital culture and a definition of interaction in digital media have often been overlooked by other researchers and this has caused the emergence of many different notions on this issue. As a result of these varied notions of the concept, public confusion has arisen regarding interactivity. The main purpose of this research is to find a suitable multi definition of interaction through examining local digital culture. In order to analogise multi digital culture, the video game culture is employed as a metaphor to interpret local digital culture. The reason for this is that a specific national culture can be easily identified within the video game culture. Four countries, South Korea, Japan, the U.S. and the UK have been chosen for comparison purposes. Case study, questionnaire and publicly accessible video game related data, such as, video game charts, are used for formalising and analysing unique local digital culture. The Heyri POP UP IMAGE Festival, S. Korea, was also used as a pilot study, with some of the above research methods being employed to analyse South Korean digital culture. In relation to western cases, interview and questionnaire were primarily used. The data from the case countries was carefully compared and analysed and then it became the basis of a theory of multi definition of interaction in digital media. The case study employed the cultural metaphor for this research and in addition video game culture related questionnaires and interviews with experts of interactive art genre, regarding new notions of digital interaction were utilised. The survey was conducted simultaneously in the four different cultural case nations of this research. Twenty respondents from each case nation participated in the survey, in order to investigate firstly, the existence of 'local digital culture' and secondly, the trends and phenomena of 'digital culture' in these four different 'local digital cultural areas'. In terms of interviews with experts of the interactive art genre, these were focused on obtaining their understanding of contemporary digital culture in their research. Using gathered data from the observation of local digital culture, the basic theory of interaction and the terminology of interaction are reformed. Localised definitions of interaction on digital media, control based interaction and communication based interaction are presented, in order to identify a 'locality' in terms of various contemporary digital cultures. As a result of analysing digital culture, new definitions of 'multi definition of digital interaction' were formulated. As mentioned above, 'control' and 'communication' based interaction were initiated, based on 'user to media' relationships. Based on the degree of physical interaction, 'liminal' and 'transitive' interactions were initiated. Less physical digital interaction is named 'liminal' interaction and more physical digital interaction is named' transitive' interaction. These new definitions of interaction were applied to the real world examples of uses of digital interaction, such as, digital interactive installation artworks and video games. The newly defined meaning of digital interaction can be applied to analysing digital interactive installation artworks and possibly indicate their future development and the prospects of future electronic games. Three leading digital interactive artists were selected for this analysis and their works were studied in terms of the implementation of 'multi definition of digital interaction'. Throughout these processes, the meaning of 'communication' in digital interactive media was emphasised. Many of the selected artists' digital installations were focused on 'communication' or 'interaction between each user through digital media', rather than the concept of 'control' in digital interaction, otherwise termed, 'communication with digital media'. In their artworks, interaction between each audience was digitally engaged within the physical interactive environment which was created by the digital media. Both the audience's action and all the reaction throughout the interaction between the audiences, triggered the digital media' s reaction. This audience-audience-media interaction is the key to understanding the concept of 'communication' in physical digital media and it is the main interactive concept upon which the selected digital interactive installation artists for this research and many other artists from similar fields, are concentrating their efforts. In the case of the video game, a similar trend was noticed to that of digital interactive installations. Based on this research's 'multi definition of digital interaction', the video game has evolved from the early stage of being conventional game, which was focused on control based interaction, to the on-line game which was focused on communication based interaction, to physical interactive games, such as, Nintendo Wii, which are focused on more physical interaction and finally, the ubiquitous interactive game, which is mainly concentrated on the concept of 'communication' in physical digital interaction. It is possible that this evolution of the video game concept of interaction is comparable to the progress of digital interactive artworks. This view is based on the fact that both genres show evidence that they are developing in the direction of the concept of 'communication', in terms of physical digital interaction. The important emphasis of this research's results is 'locality' and 'communication' in physical digital interaction. The existence of different digital culture trends, which were assessed by the 'multi definition of digital interaction', can explain the concept of 'locality' in digital interaction. This meaning of 'locality' may assist in understanding contemporary digital culture and can reduce possible misunderstanding as regards 'local' digital culture. In the application of the concept of digital interaction to the field of either artworks or video games, it is possible to form the opinion that an innovative concept of physical digital interaction is 'communication' within this context. This concept and its applications can improve the potential of both digital interactive culture and technology.
