This paper presents a new two-terminal numerical algorithm for fault location estimation using the synchronized phasor in time-domain. The proposed algorithm is also based on the synchronized voltage and current phasor measured from the PMUs (Phasor Measurement Units) installed at both ends of the transmission lines. In this paper, the algorithm is given without shunt capacitance and with shunt capacitance using II -model and estimated using DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) and LES (Least Error Squares Method). The algorithm uses a very short data window and classification for real-time transmission line protection. To verify the validity of the proposed algorithm, the Electro-Magnetic Transient Program (EMTP) and MATLAB are used.
If there is a mismatch between the controller programmed rotor time constant and the actual time constant of motor, the decoupling between the flux and torque is lost in an indirect rotor field oriented control. This paper presents a new estimation scheme for rotor time constant using artificial neural networks. The parameters of induction motor model organize 2 layer neural to be weight between neuron, which is proposed new in this paper. This method makes networks simple, so its brings not only the improvement in speed but simplification in calculation. Furthermore, it is possible to estimated rotor time constant real time through on-line learning without using off-line learning. The digital simulation and the experimental results to verify the effectiveness of the new method are described in this paper.

This paper presents a neural network approach for on-line estimation of partial discharge(PD) location using advanced correlation technique in power transformer. Ultrasonic sensors detect ultrasonic signals generated by a PD and the proposed method calculates time difference between the ultrasonic signals at each sensor pair using the cross-correlation technique applied by moving average and the Hamming window. The neural network takes distance difference as inputs converted from time difference, and estimates the PD location. Case studies showed that the proposed method using advanced correlation technique and a neural network estimated the PD location better than conventional methods.
This paper presents a vision-based relative pose estimation algorithm and its validation through both numerical and hardware experiments. The algorithm and the hardware system were simultaneously designed considering actual experimental conditions. Two estimation techniques were utilized to estimate relative pose; one was a nonlinear least square method for initial estimation, and the other was an extended Kalman Filter for subsequent on-line estimation. A measurement model of the vision sensor and equations of motion including nonlinear perturbations were utilized in the estimation process. Numerical simulations were performed and analyzed for both the autonomous docking and formation flying scenarios. A configuration of LED-based beacons was designed to avoid measurement singularity, and its structural information was implemented in the estimation algorithm. The proposed algorithm was verified again in the experimental environment by using the Autonomous Spacecraft Test Environment for Rendezvous In proXimity (ASTERIX) facility. Additionally, a laser distance meter was added to the estimation algorithm to improve the relative position estimation accuracy. Throughout this study, the performance required for autonomous docking could be presented by confirming the change in estimation accuracy with respect to the level of measurement error. In addition, hardware experiments confirmed the effectiveness of the suggested algorithm and its applicability to actual tasks in the real world.

This research was designed to compare the subjective evaluation of Hand between on- and off-line by structure and sensible characteristics of fabric. 113 subjects who have a fashion design major evaluated the subjective evaluation of Hand of various 16 kinds of specimens on- and off-line. T-test and pearson correlation coefficient were used for statistical analysis by SPSS WIN 11.0. The results of this study were as follows: The results of correlation analysis of the evaluation score indicated that Crash and Satin show high correlation between two kinds of evaluation score. But, fabrics which have distinct characteristics such as Plush, Dobby, Seersucker represented low correlation coefficient. The results of t-test fer the difference of the evaluation score showed that thin fabrics like Organdy represent a large difference between on- and off-line evaluation. On the other hand, twill weaved fabrics like Drill, Tweed, Saxony did not show many differences. Analysing each item in terms of correlation of evaluation of hand between on- and off-line gave results that the shininess was most deliverable through on-line and density and the dryness was not so deliverable through on-line. Comparison of evaluation score between on- and off-line items showed that the estimation to real fabric is more negative than that of on-line. The results of most preferable hand between on-and off-line showed exact opposite preference between shinny, smooth and soft Satin and rough, woolen Tweed. Organdy showed the most different subjective evaluation of hand in real ones compared with that of on-line.

This paper presents a new analytical method for estimating the location of a target using directional data. Based on a nonlinear programming (NLP) problem formulated for the line method, which is a well known algorithm for two-dimensional location estimation, we present a method to find an optimal solution for the problem. Then we present a two-stage method for better location estimation based on the NLP problem. In addition, another two-stage method is presented for location estimation problems in which different types of observers are used to obtain directional data based on the analysis of the maximum likelihood estimate of the target location. The performance of the suggested method is evaluated through simulation experiments, and results show that the two-stage method is computationally efficient and highly accurate.

This paper conducts a study on methods for associating multipath tracks received by a horizontal line array sonar. The horizontal line array sonar introduces conical bearing ambiguities due to its array-shaped characteristics. Target signals are often subject to multipath propagation in the ocean, resulting in errors in target bearing estimation due to these bearing ambiguities. Recent research efforts have been directed toward using multipath tracks to estimate the positions of targets. However, there has been a lack of research dedicated to identifying multipath tracks from the measurements of a horizontal line array sonar. Therefore, this study identifies the conical bearing characteristics of multipath signals based on the result of experiment and establishes criteria for associating multipath tracks. Additionally, Simulations are performed to determine the ability to associate multipath tracks.

Under passive RFID environment, this paper presents a new localization of a mobile robot traversing over the floor covered with tags, which is superior to existing methods in terms of estimation performance and cost effectiveness. Basically, it is assumed that a mobile robot is traveling along a series of straight line segments, each segment at a certain constant velocity, and that the number of tags sensed by a mobile robot at each sampling instant is at most one. First, for a given line segment with known starting point, the velocity and position of a mobile robot is estimated using the spatial and temporal information acquired from the traversed tag. Some discussions are made on the validity of the basic assumptions and the localization for the initial segment with unknown starting point. Second, for a given tag distribution density, the optimal tag arrangement is considered to reduce the position estimation error as well as to make easy the tag attachment on the floor. After reviewing typical tag arrangements, the pseudorandom tag arrangement is devised inspired from the Sudoku puzzle, a number placement puzzle. Third, through experiments using our passive RFID localization system, the validity and performance of the mobile robot localization proposed in this paper is demonstrated.
For on-line ARMA spectral estimation, the fast transversal filter algorithm of extended least squares method(ETS FTF) is presented. The projection operator, a key tool for geometric approach, is used in the derivation of the algorithm. ELS FTF is a fast time update recursion which is based on the fact that the correlation matrix of ARMA model satisfies the shift invariance property in each block, and thus it takes 10N+31 MADPR.
A new control scheme based on dead beat control with adaptive parameter estimation for PWM Inverter is proposed. The proposed scheme updates dead beat control parameters continouously, and make PWM inverter excellent performance at any load or parameter condition. Simulation results show very attractive features in this proposed scheme.
