Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics of $CO_2$/Oil Mixtures in a Circular Tube

  • The present study is directed at flow and heat transfer of $CO_2$ and oil mixtures in a circular tube. PAG and POE oils are considered in this study. Flow characteristics of $CO_2$ and oil mixtures have been investigated by flow visualization. Pressure drop has been measured in the range of operating mass flow rate from 0.1 to 0.4 kg/min in a circular tube. Heat transfer characteristics of $CO_2$/oil mixtures have been investigated using a counterflow heat exchanger. In case of pure liquid $CO_2$ as well as $CO_2$ and POE mixtures, flow are seen to be uniform so that $CO_2$ and POE oil are still miscible even at flowing state. However, it is found that $CO_2$ and PAG are not miscible. Pressure drop of $CO_2$/PAG mixtures are much higher than that of $CO_2$/POE mixtures as well as pure $CO_2$ at a fixed mass flow rate. As the concentration of POE oil is increased from 0 to 5 wt%, pressure drop is increased. However, heat transfer rate and heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$/POE mixtures are much higher than that of $CO_2$/PAG mixtures. The f-factor correlation and Nusselt number correlation for $CO_2$/POE oil mixtures are suggested in this paper.

  • 메조기공(2~50 nm)과 매크로기공(>50 nm)의 이중 기공구조를 갖는 ${\gamma}$-알루미나 그래뉼을 솔-젤법과 oil-drop법을 이용하여 제조하였다. 메조기공은 알루미나 결정입자간의 공간에서 생성되며, 매크로기공은 합성시 구형의 polystyrene(PS) 입자를 물리적 템플레이트로 혼합한 후 열처리 과정을 거쳐 PS 입자를 연소시킴으로 생성되었다. 제조된 ${\gamma}$-알루미나 그래뉼은 평균 직경이 2 mm였으며, 화학적 물리적 특성은 FE-SEM, XRD, FT-IR, $N_2$ porosimetry, 만능시험기 등을 이용하여 살펴보았다.

  • 수중에서 방출되는 기름의 유적화 현상을 축대칭 실험을 통하여 살펴보았다. 노즐의 직경과 방출속도를 변화시키면 생성되는 유적과 제트의 크기 및 형상, 그리고 생성된 유적의 상승 거동을 관찰하였다. 노즐의 직경을 이용하는 레이놀즈수가 증가하면서, 유적의 크기는 감소하다가 증가하면 다양한 크기의 유적이 폭발적으로 생성되는 영역으로 변해간다. 통시에 제트의 긱이는 유통의 축대칭이 유지되는 한계까지는 증가하다가 축대칭이 무너지는 영역에서는 감소하는, 유적의 크기와는 반대의 현상을 나타낸다.

내측유막으로의 공급유량이 플로팅 링 저어널베어링의 성능에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Oil Supply into Inner Film on Performance of Floating-Ring Journal Bearing)

  • In this work the effect of pressure drop at inner film due to centrifugal forces acting on the lubricating fluid is investigated for static and dynamic characteristics of floating ring journal bearing. The momentum effect of oil supply into a inner film through oil feeding holes of floating ring on the bearing performance is also studied. It is compared the pressure drop effects and the momentum effect of oil supply into a inner film fur all bearing performance parameters. It is shown that some performance of floating ring bearings can be controled by the momentum of oil supply into a inner film.

유턴 흐름을 갖는 차량공조용 플레이트형 증발기의 전열특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the characteristics of heat transfer and pressure drop in plate type evaporator with U-turn for automotive air conditioner)

  • The evaporation heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics for HFC-l34a in flat plate type heat exchangers with enhanced beads were experimentally investigated. Three plate type evaporators with different geometric condition of U-turn area were tested. Mass fluxes were tested over the range of 83kg/$m^2$s to 166kg/$m^2$s, and heat fluxes were varied from 4㎾/$m^2$ to 12㎾/$m^2$. Evaporation temperature was 5$^{\circ}C$ with inlet qualities of 0.1 to 1.0. There was no notable difference in the heat transfer coefficient by geometric variation of U-turn area, but the third plate with cross-ribbed channel at U-turn area was better than others in the evaluation using volume goodness factor comparison. Also, the mixtures of HFC-l34a and PAG oil was tested to determine oil effects on heat transfer and pressure drop. As oil concentration was increased, heat transfer coefficient was increased by 22~48% up to the 3wt.%, but decreased by 14~22% at the 4wt.%. The pressure drop was increased by the maximum of 100% as oil concentration was increased.

PAG 오일이 $CO_2$ 증발열전달에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Effects of PAG Oil for $CO_2$ Evaporation Heat Transfer)

  • In order to investigate $CO_2$ heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop by PAG oil concentration during $CO_2$ evaporation, the experiment on evaporation heat transfer characteristics in a horizontal micro-fin tube was performed. The experimental apparatus consisted of a test section, a DC power supply, a heater, a chiller, a mass flow meter, a pump and a measurement system. Experiment was conducted for various mass fluxes($400{\sim}1200\;kg/m^2s$), heat fluxes($10{\sim}30\;kW/m^2$) and saturation temperatures ($-5{\sim}5^{\circ}C$), and PAG oil concentration($0{\sim}5\;wt%$). The variation of the heat transfer coefficient was different in accordance with the oil concentration. With the increase of the oil concentration, the evaporation heat transfer coefficient decreased and the delay of dryout by oil addition was found. Pressure drop increased with the increase of the oil concentration and heat flux, and the decrease of saturation temperature.

고분자 비이온 계면활성제 수용액에 의한 탄화수소 오일의 가용화 메커니즘 (Solubilization Mechanism of Hydrocarbon Oils by Polymeric Nonionic Surfactant Solution)

  • 본 연구에서는 고분자 비이온 계면활성제 Pluronic L64($EO_{13}PO_{30}EO_{13}$) 마이셀에 의한 n-decane, n-undecane, n-dodecane의 가용화 실험을 수행하였다. Oil drop contacting 실험을 이용하여 탄화수소 오일을 계면활성제 마이셀 용액에 주입한 후 시간에 따른 탄화수소 오일의 크기를 측정하여 가용화 속도를 결정하였다. 가용화 속도는 초기 오일 drop의 크기에 상관없이 일정하게 나타났으며, 탄화수소 오일의 탄소수(alkane carbon number, ACN)가 증가함에 따라 감소하고 계면활성제 농도에 따라 거의 선형적으로 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과로부터 Pluronic L64 마이셀에 의한 n-decane, n-undecane, n-dodecane의 가용화는 diffusion-controlled 메커니즘이 아니라 interface-controlled 메커니즘을 따르는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 turbidimeter를 이용하여 측정한 가용화도(equilibrium solubilization capacity, ESC)는 ACN에 따라 감소하나, 계면활성제 농도와 가용화 속도 증가에 따라 모두 증가하였다. Spinning drop tensiometer를 이용하여 dynamic interfacial tension을 측정한 결과, ACN이 증가함에 따라 평형에 도달하는 데 걸리는 시간과 평형에서의 장력 값이 모두 증가하였으나 계면활성제 농도에 따라서는 감소하였다.

사이클론 방식 유분리기의 출구 튜브 설계 (Design of the Outlet-Port Tube of a Cyclone-Type Oil Separator for a Compressor)

  • A series of numerical simulations have been carried out to study the performances of cyclone-type oil separators, which are designed for refrigeration-system compressors. The corresponding working fluid is R22, which is a typical refrigerant, whereby a mineral-oil droplet is supplied (Ed-highlight-My interpretation). The outlet-tube length in relation to the total chamber volume is considered a design parameter. Depending on the tube length, the separation efficiency varies from 98.7% to 99.3%, while the predicted pressure drop is between 5.1 kPa and 6.4 kPa. Considering both the pressure drop and separation efficiency, the length of the outlet-port tube of the separator is 152 mm.

대용량 인휠 모터용 중공축 냉각유로의 형상 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Shape Optimization of Cooling Channel in Hollow Shaft for In-wheel Motor)

  • For the proper cooling of in-wheel motor, the cooling channel should have the characteristics which are low pressure drop and adequate cooling oil supply to motor part. In this study, the flow performance of cooling channel for in-wheel motor was evaluated and the shape of the channel was optimized. First, the pressure drop and flow distribution characteristics of the initial channel model were evaluated using numerical analysis. Also, by the result of analysis and design modification, 4 design parameters of the channel were selected. Second, using the Taguchi optimal method, the cooling channel was optimized. In the method, nine models with different levels of the design parameters were generated and the flow characteristics of each models was estimated. Base on the result, the main effect of the design parameters was founded and optimized model was obtained. For the optimized model, the pressure drop and oil flow rate were about 0.196 bar and 0.207 L/min, respectively. The pressure drop decreased by about 0.3 bar and the oil flow rate to the motor part increased by about 0.2 L/min compared to the initial model.

하천수율원이용 2단압축 열펌프시스템 냉방성능평가 (Cooling Performance Test of 2-stage Heat Pump System Using River Water as a Heat Source)

  • The present study has been conducted to develop a heat pump system using river water of temperature energy which not only belongs to unutilized energy but is a kind of good heat source due to maintain its temperature in a certain degree regardless of seasonal variation. The system did not meet the proposed performance after setup. In this paper, the system performance affected by refrigerant Oil, by pressure drop, or by other factors has been discussed. The followings were obtained : (1) Refrigerant Oil mixture rate was 2.5 in weight percentage, (2) Pressure drop through evaporator was 29.1kPa($3.1^{\circ}C$ in saturated tempearture) (3) Pressure drop from the end of evaporator to compressor inlet was 39.8kPa($4.0^{\circ}C$ in saturated tempearture). (4) The system performance can to be improved by modifying a part of pipe line to compressor, and reducing pressure drop through heat exchangers.
