The Best Generation Mix considering CO2 Air Pollution Constraint ($CO_2$ 배출량제약을 고려한 최적전원구성)

  • A new approach considering CO2 air pollution constraints in the long-term generation mix is proposed under uncertain circumstances. A characteristic feature of the presented approach in this paper is what effects give the air pollution constraints in long term best generation mix. Best generation mix problem is formulated by linear programming with fuel and construction cost minimization with load growth, reliability (reserve margin rate) and air pollutionconstraints. The proposed method accommodates the operation of pumped-storage generator. It was assumed in this study that the construction planning of the hydro power plants is given separately from the other generation plans. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by applying to the best generation mix problem of KEPCO-system, which contains nuclear, coal, LNG, oil and pumped-storage hydro plant multi-years.

  • Nowadays the concern about development and diffusion strategies of new & renewable energy and its technologies is getting higher globally as Kyoto Protocol has taken effect this year and oil has been rising in price tremendously. Developed countries have already commenced the study and research for this problem and are looking for various solutions. In this paper, environment of new & renewable energy in Korea is analyzed and estimated using the learning curve, which has been powerfully used for analyses of end-use equipments' characteristics in existing studies, as a pre-study for proposing appropriate strategies and feasible methods. The sample study shows how prices of facilities affect on the penetration of new & renewable energy.

  • The new approach using fuzzy linear programming with fuzzy multi-criterion is proposed for the best generation mix of a power system. A chracteristic feature of the presented approach is that not only cost but also reliability for goal function can be taken into account by using fuzzy multi-criterion and so more realistic solution can be obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by the best generation mix problem of KEPCO-system size model which contains nuclear, coal, LNG, oil and pump-generator hydro plant in multi-years.

  • Hydraulic fitting impulse tester is equipment which produce impulse pressure waveform that specified foreign standard of SAE, JIS etc. Test conditions of SAE J1453 about waveform standard indicates frequency of 35-70 cycle/min, pressure of 560 bar, oil temperature of 93 .+-.3.deg. C etc. and required cycle is a million over. In additions, Test condition operated continuously equipment. This development item adopted new pattern method such as intensifier and rotary distributor is different from already established fitting impulse tester applied servo valve and high pressure direct directional control valve. Therefore, this development item which compares already established item is good reliability, low cost of manufacture and save of electric energy. especially, Domestic small and medium enterprise uses this tester because of economical cause. We develope appropriateness tester which conforms to demand of user.

  • The existing compressor steel seal used in automotive air-conditioner has the problem of oil leakage and deterioration in shielding performance, due to the abrasion and corrosion of the material. A new type of polymer resin seal studied in this research has the characteristics of high anti-abrasiveness and anti-corrosiveness, which can oversome the defects of the steel seal. In addition, the seal needs lower manufacturing cost and is appropriate to mass production, because it is made by the injection molding method requiring no mechanical processing. The profile generation program for seal mold has been developed using the gradient method, and the molding characteristics of the seal have analyzed through the flow analysis and the warpage analysis. The program has been verified by comparing the analysis results with the measured data of the test product. The research might be said to provide the basic method to produce the polymer resin seals with various types and dimensions.

  • Since the oil crisis, we have been concerned about the energy saving techniques of electric generating systems. As a part of the effort to save energy, automatic electric load sharing device was developed. Usually, ship's electric generating system consists of two or three sets of generator. And, electric generating system is operated as single or parallel operation mode according to the demanded electric power. Therefore, it is important to investigate generators operating mode for the supply of required electric power in the ship in order to decrease the operating cost. So, this paper suggests the method to solve the optimal electric load distribution problem by dynamic programming. And, this thesis indicates that the proposed method is superior to the lagrange multiplier's method in obtaining optimal load distribution solution in the ship's electric generating system.

  • As the offshore oil and gas upstream industry moves into deeper water, the FPSOs are the cost-effective solution. In the harsh environment such as in North Sea, station keeping and heading control capability obtained through the DP and Position Mooring (DPM) system of FPSOs play important roles to keep the safety. This paper introduces the concept, function and sub-system of the DPM systems which has been applied for the North Sea FPSOs since the late 1980s. The requirements and guidelines of some internationally recognized standards are also described, which are important to build the design basis at the early phases of the project.

  • The success of road transportation, in dominating the surface movement of freight, is now threatened by increased traffic congestion, falling average motorway speed and rising in logistics costs, oil price. Due to the necessity for an effective transport system, we need to improve domestic transport infrastructure to reduce logistics cost by shifting to rail system. To analysis the demand characteristics in advance against these hypothetical circumstances, Stated Preference, which is called SP, approaches have been adopted to analysis the shipper's mode choice behaviors as RP(Revealed Preference) approaches are not appropriate. The results also indicate that the most effective policy to divert the freight volume from road to railway is to reduce freight rates for the railway with improved reliability.

  • In this paper, the design of a novel 6-axis compliance device with force/torque sensing capability and the experiment results on force measurement are presented. Unlike the traditional control methods using a force/torque sensor with very limited compliance, the force control method employs a compliant device to provide sufficient compliance between an industrial robot and a rigid environment for more stable force control. The proposed compliance device is designed to have a diagonal stiffness matrix at the tip and uses strain gauge measurement which is robust to dust and oil. The measurement circuit is designed with low-cost IC chips however the force resolution is 0.04N.

  • Recently, the fuel charge is accounted for very high in the navigation cost. Therefore Shipowner is tried to find method for reducing oil consumption. ERCS(Energy Reduced Cooling System) is one of the method. The ERCS algorithm operates to decrease a power consumption of main sea water cooling pump through inverter control. We have developed ERCS controller with algorithm. The ERCS controller consists of CPU board, Digital I/O board, A/D board, D/A board and LCD/SW board. We tested with dummy signal to confirm the algorithm working correctly and achieved the good results. Before soon we will test under real condition in the ship and expect to get the result as forecasted.
