The immune response against Trichinella spiralis at the intestinal level depends on the $CD4^+$ T cells, which can both suppress or promote the inflammatory response through the synthesis of diverse cytokines. During the intestinal phase, the immune response is mixed (Th1/Th2) with the initial predominance of the Th1 response and the subsequent domination of Th2 response, which favor the development of intestinal pathology. In this context, the glucocorticoids (GC) are the pharmacotherapy for the intestinal inflammatory response in trichinellosis. However, its therapeutic use is limited, since studies have shown that treatment with GC suppresses the host immune system, favoring T. spiralis infection. In the search for novel pharmacological strategies that inhibit the Th1 immune response (proinflammatory) and assist the host against T. spiralis infection, recent studies showed that resiniferatoxin (RTX) had anti-inflammatory activity, which decreased the serum levels of IL-12, $INF-{\gamma}$, $IL-1{\beta}$, $TNF-{\alpha}$, NO, and $PGE_2$, as well the number of eosinophils in the blood, associated with decreased intestinal pathology and muscle parasite burden. These researches demonstrate that RTX is capable to inhibit the production of Th1 cytokines, contributing to the defense against T. spiralis infection, which places it as a new potential drug modulator of the immune response.
This study was undertaken to obtain the data for age determination following the calcification degree of the second molar, third molar in the point of forensic odontology. The intraoral panoramic radiograph of 1600 male and 1600 female (100 persons each age) ranging from 7 to 2 years of age were studied. The developmental state of the second molar and third molar were divided into 12 stages following the calcification degree and correlations of second molar developmental stage and statistically analyzed. The results were as follows : 1. There was remarkable correlation between the development of the second molar, the third molar and age. 2. There was no significant developmental differences between the right and left second molar, third molar.(p>0.05) 3. The developmental stages of the lower second molar was more advanced than those of upper second molar. (p<0.05) 4. The developmental stages of upper third molar was more advanced than those of lower third molar. (p<0.05) 5. Both the developmental stages of second, third molars were earlier in the female than in the male. (p<0.001) 6. For the purpose of age estimation according to developmental stages of the second, third molar, linear equations are as follows. (p<0.001) second molar : male upper : Y=1.3927X + 0.2213 (r=0.72) lower : Y=1.4132X + 0.0012 (r=0.78) female upper : Y=1.4914X + 0.2151 (r=0.73) lower : Y=1.5429X - 0.0911 (r=0.78)

High spatial resolution ultrasonic imaging is necessary in several fields of investigation, in order to permit greater precision of clinical diagnosis in the dermatology, ophthalmology etc. We present a B-mode scan system using sector scanning probe of 20MHz center frequency. This developed system allow the high resolution image of 250${\mu}m$ in lateral and 80${\mu}m$ in axial, which of display the size of a $5mm {\times} 5mm$ image with 20 frames/sec. We have shown the images of various structural elements of the human skin and of the nail. We have compared the skin images obtained for each of the different age and we have shown in a general with the age, the atrophy of the skin thickness and the appearance of the abnormal hypoechogene band under epidermis (named SENEB : Sub Epidermal Non Echogene Band).
PURPOSE. To present a literature review on implant overdentures after a brief survey of bone loss after extraction of all teeth. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Papers on alveolar bone loss and implant overdentures have been studied for a narrative review. RESULTS. Bone loss of the alveolar process after tooth extraction occurs with great individual variation, impossible to predict at the time of extraction. The simplest way to prevent bone loss is to avoid extraction of all teeth. To keep a few teeth and use them or their roots for a tooth or root-supported overdenture substantially reduces bone loss. Jaws with implant-supported prostheses show less bone loss than jaws with conventional dentures. Mandibular 2-implant overdentures provide patients with better outcomes than do conventional dentures, regarding satisfaction, chewing ability and oral-health-related quality of life. There is no strong evidence for the superiority of one overdenture retention-system over the others regarding patient satisfaction, survival, peri-implant bone loss and relevant clinical factors. Mandibular single midline implant overdentures have shown promising results but long-term results are not yet available. For a maxillary overdenture 4 to 6 implants splinted with a bar provide high survival both for implants and overdenture. CONCLUSION. In edentulous mandibles, 2-implant overdentures provide excellent long-term success and survival, including patient satisfaction and improved oral functions. To further reduce the costs a single midline implant overdenture can be a promising option. In the maxilla, overdentures supported on 4 to 6 implants splinted with a bar have demonstrated good functional results.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common malignancy of the oral cavity and some of these have been documented in association or preceded by oral epithelial dysplasia (OED). Aggressive cancers with fast growth have demonstrated overexpression of some glucose transporters (GLUTs). Thus, the aim of this study was to analyze the immunohistochemical expression of the glucose transporter, GLUT-1, in OEDs and OSCCs, seeking to better elucidate the biological behavior of neoplasias. Fifteen cases were selected this research of both lesions. Five areas were analyzed from each case by counting the percentage of positive cells at 400x magnification. Immunoreactivity of GLUT-1 was observed in 100% of the samples ranging from 54.2% to 86.2% for the OSCC and 73.9% to 97.4% for the OED. Statistical test revealed that there was greater overexpression of GLUT-1 in OED than the OSCC (p=0.01). It is believed the high expression of GLUT-1 may reflect the involvement of GLUT-1 in early stages of oral carcinogenesis.
In the field Of individual identification in forensic Science, if the body is charred, it is sometimes impossible to identify the morphologic changes and charred tissue such as blood, muscle and bone can not be identified by forensic microbiologic method such as DNA typing. So the author used the characteristics of teeth which is relatively firm compare to other organs and stable to external environment such as heat and also possess cells needed for the DNA typing. The author conducted the experiment on teeth to detect DNA related to individual identification regarding to temperature in which other charredorgans can not be detected. The experiment was done on 64 extracted third molars consisted of unheated ones, and heated teeth to $100^{\circ}C$, $150^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$ for 45 min, 90 min, and 120 min respectively and to $250^{\circ}C$ for 45 min. DNA was extracted from each tooth and amplified fragment length polymorphism procedure(AMP-FLPs) using polymerase chain reaction(PCR) was applied and observed for the matching DNA in HumTH01 and HumCD4 locus and the followings Are the results : 1. It was able to detect matching DNA in HumTH01 and HumCD4 locus in every teeth which no heating has been done. 2. It was able to detect matching DNA in HumTH01 and HumCD4 locus in every teeth heated to $100^{\circ}C$ for 45, 90 and 120 min. 3. It was able to detect matching DNA in HumTH01 and HumCD4 locus in teeth heated to $l00^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$ for 45, 90, 120 min. 4. It was impossible to detect matching DNA in HumTH01 and HumCD4 locus in teeth heated to $250^{\circ}C$. So, it is possible to extract DNA from teeth that otherwise can not be extracted from other organs in the charred body and it can be concluded that teeth are highly reliable and applicatable as forensic odontology for individual identification.
Purpose: In India, the age of 14 years is the legal age threshold for child labour. Therefore, in suspected instances of child labour, age assessment plays a crucial role in determining whether a violation of the law on the employment of children has occurred. The aim of this retrospective cross-sectional study was to assess the discriminatory ability of stages of cervical vertebral maturation (CVM) in predicting the legal age threshold of 14 years. Materials and Methods: Routinely taken lateral cephalograms from 408 subjects aged 10 to 18 years were evaluated retrospectively using the CVM stages described by Baccetti et al. Descriptive statistics, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values, and likelihood ratios were calculated for stages 2, 3, and 4 of CVM. Results: Real age increased as the CVM stage gradually increased. The results of 2×2 contingency tables showed that CVM stage 4 produced an accuracy of 71% and 73%, a false positive rate of 7% and 18%, and a post-test probability of 59% and 68% for boys and girls, respectively. Conclusion: Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the stages of CVM are of limited use for predicting the attainment of the legal age threshold of 14 years. Future studies should investigate whether combinations of skeletal and dental methods could achieve better accuracy and post-test probability.
This study was undertaken to obtain the data age determination following the eruption of individual cusps of the first molars in the point of forensic odontology. 532 children (294 male and 238 female, born between April, 1989 and March, 1986) from a kindergarten and a primary school in a reesidential district in Seoul were studied. The eruption state of the first molar was divides into 6 stages according to the degree of exposure of individual cusps, and correlation between the stage and age was stastically analysed. The results of the study lead to following conclusions : 1. The most frequently seen eruption sequence of cusps for the upper first molar was mesibuccal cusp, mesiopalatal cusp, distobuccal cusp, mesiodistal cusp, distopalatal cusp. As for the lower first molar : mesiobuccal cusp, mcsiolingual cusp, distobuccal cusp, distolingual cusp. 2. The time of eruption was earlier in the female ethan in the male, but it was stastically remarkable only in upper and lower parts of the right and the left teeth of subjects age between 6.0 and 6.5 and upper part of the right and the left teeth of subjects age over 7.5 3. The eruption of the lower first molar was comparatively earlier than that of the upper first molar and there was no significant stastical difference between the right and the left first molars in the time of eruption. 4. There was no noticeable difference in the eruption sequence of cusps, irrespective of sex and side. 5. The eruption of the upper first molar is started at the age of about 6.4 and complete the age of about 7.1 and as for the lower first molar, it is from 6.3 to 7.0
The aims of this study were firstly to investigate soft tissue reactions around single implant-supported crowns and secondly to compare soft tissue dimensions and conditions of the crowns in relation to interdental papillae, and lastly to investigate patients'esthetic satisfaction with their single implant-supported crowns according to the interdental papillae presence/absence. Twenty-nine patients (41 implants) whose single missing tooth in the maxillary anterior region had been replaced by single implant-supported crown participated for the study and various variables of soft tissue conditions, dimensions and crown dimensions were measured around the single implant-supported crowns at clinical examination and from study models and slides. The results showed that the soft tissue conditions around the single implantsupported crowns were similar to those around implants used for partially or totolly edentulous patients. Except for the high frequency of bleeding on probing, all other parameters revealed healthy conditions. The buccal sites of the crown had a shallow pocket comparing with other sites. At all sites of the crown, similar status of little inflammation was found. Mesial sites and central-incisor positioned implantsupported crowns had lower contact point position than distal sites and lateral-incisor positioned crowns, respectively. Mucositis index, probing depth and contact point position were significantly correlated with papillae index(p < 0.05). More inflammation and lower contact point position were found at the implant-supported crown with no interdental space than that with interdental space. Patients showed high esthetic satisfaction regardless of interdental space presence. The result indicated that, despite of their submucosal crown margins, single implantsupported crowns have soft tissue conditions as good as other implants used for the treatment of the different types of edentulism and a clinician can manipulate interdental papilla height by modifying crown shapes within the limits of not violating total esthetics.

Purpose: Using images in the facial image comparison process poses a challenge for forensic experts due to limitations such as the presence of facial expressions. The aims of this study were to analyze how morphometric changes in the face during a spontaneous smile influence the facial image comparison process and to evaluate the reproducibility of measurements obtained by digital stereophotogrammetry in these situations. Materials and Methods: Three examiners used digital stereophotogrammetry to obtain 3-dimensional images of the faces of 10 female participants(aged between 23 and 45 years). Photographs of the participants' faces were captured with their faces at rest (group 1) and with a spontaneous smile (group 2), resulting in a total of 60 3-dimensional images. The digital stereophotogrammetry device obtained the images with a 3.5-ms capture time, which prevented undesirable movements of the participants. Linear measurements between facial landmarks were made, in units of millimeters, and the data were subjected to multivariate and univariate statistical analyses using Pirouette® version 4.5 (InfoMetrix Inc., Woodinville, WA, USA) and Microsoft Excel® (Microsoft Corp., Redmond, WA, USA), respectively. Results: The measurements that most strongly influenced the separation of the groups were related to the labial/buccal region. In general, the data showed low standard deviations, which differed by less than 10% from the measured mean values, demonstrating that the digital stereophotogrammetry technique was reproducible. Conclusion: The impact of spontaneous smiles on the facial image comparison process should be considered, and digital stereophotogrammetry provided good reproducibility.
