  • Due to dermal exposure to hazardous chemicals causing potential adverse health symptoms through skin absorption, dermal monitoring has had an important role in assessing such exposure. This paper overviews comparatively a number of studies of dermal monitoring with different methodologies such as surface monitoring, skin wiping, skin washing, adhesive methods and tape stripping, fluorescence and infrared spectroscopy, skin patches, pads and clothing, video exposure monitoring and dermal exposure assessment toolkits and models. However, there is a lack of information on the relationship between exposure levels and adverse health symptoms. Therefore, more specific strategies for dermal exposure monitoring should be developed and standardized with further development of biological and ocular monitoring.

  • Information about retinal blood vessels can be used in grading disease severity or as part of the process of automated diagnosis of diseases with ocular menifestations. In this paper, we address the problem of detecting retinal blood vessels and optic disk (papilla) in eye-fundus images. We introduce an algorithm for feature extraction based on Fuzzy Clustering algorithm (fuzzy c-means). A method of finding the optic disk (papilla) is proposed in the eye-fundus images. Additionally, the inrormations such as position and area of the optic disk are extracted. The results are compared to those obtained from other methods. The automatic detection of retinal blood vessels and optic disk in the eye-rundus images could help physicians in diagnosing ocular diseases.

  • In the present study, we intended to report a clinical pediatric case of thelaziasis in Korea. In addition, we briefly reviewed the literature on pediatric cases of thelaziasis in Korea. In the present case, 3 whitish, thread-like eye-worms were detected in a 6-year-old-boy living in an urban area and contracted an ocular infection known as thelaziasis incidentally during ecological agritainment. This is the first report of pediatric thelaziasis in Seoul after 1995.

  • Tarsorrhaphy is widely used to protect the cornea, reduce evaporation of tears, and facilitate reepithelialization of the ocular surface. However, a dilemma ensues in patients when frequent neurological evaluations and postoperative examinations are needed. The modified temporary tarsorrhaphy in this study was simple to perform, provided stable eyelid closure, and could be opened and closed as needed. It could be easily reversed with minimal complications of the eyelid and it allowed the surgeon to control traction of the bolsters in all of 45 dogs with corneal epithelial defects. Also, The globe could be examined without further anesthesia, sutures, and pain at any time after surgery. It was concluded that this modified method might be effective for evaluation of the corneal healing process and useful for ocular surface reconstruction clinically.

  • In this paper, We researched the optical performance of eye by means of the Gullstrand EYE MODEL. And we also researched the glasses that are made by designing the eye glasses corrected with the Astigmatism and the optical performance of the glasses in the optical system which are compounded with eyes. This paper can be used as a reference material in designing the glasses for ametropic correction.

  • Today's diopter of optical lens can reveal the derivation apparently compared with that of refraction measure lens. First, this is applicable when there is a difference in the shape and thickness basically and when the lens is used for a short distance. When measure and use it, an astigmatic difference is occurred by the discordant light passage. This is also applicable to optical lens with prism diopter lens and in some cases, must be corrected relating to the diopter incidently.

  • Fresnel-Kirchhoff's Integration enables us to achieve the diffraction pattern for the triangle stop. We have arranged the integral variables on the generalized coordinates and unlike the rectangularity or circle, the center of mass of the triangle does not have the symmetric position on the origin of the coordinates. Hence the solution for the system shows a difficulty for the expression in the simple formula which we see in the case of the rectangularity or circle.
