Aircraft Wing Spar Cross-section Area Optimization with Response Surface Method (반응면 기법을 이용한 항공기 날개 스파 단면적의 최적화 연구)

  • The solution of the aircraft wing spar cross-section area optimization problem is obtained by the response surface method. The object function of the problem is wing total weight, design variables are spar cross-section areas, constraints are the conditions that the stresses at the each spar is less than the allowable stress. D-Optimal condition is utilized to obtain the experimental points to construct the response surfaces. D-Optimal experimental points are obtained by the commercial software "Deign-Expert". Response values for the object function and constraints for each experimental point are calculated by the NASTRAN. Response surfaces for object function and constraints are approximated from the response values by the least square method. The optimization solution is obtained by the DOT for the response surfaces of object function and constraints. The optimization results obtained from the response surface are compared with the results obtained by the NASTRAN SOL200.

  • The purpose of this study is to search an effective teaching & learning program by examining how much does Excel affect on problem solving of linear function. This study was based on qualitative case study. Teaching experiment was performed for seven periods with five students in 8th graders. Pre and posts tests were attempted to analyze the changes of student's ability on problem solving of linear function. The analysis of tests were performed in category with correct process-object perspective, near process-object perspective, incorrect process-object perspective. According to this study, the subjects showed an improvement on problem solving perspective of linear function. This meant that lessons using Excel had influenced on the problem solving of linear function. We noticed that exploring the learning environment with Excel could supplement paper-and-pencil environment. We believed that Excel with an intuitive dynamic and explorative skills can play a role in scaffolding to support problem solving of linear function.

  • The purpose of this paper is to implement a guidance system for an object on the road. A watch camera equipped on the auto door recognizes the direction for the destination of an object, after that it determines whether opening or closing the door, and then the door is opened automatically, based on the decision. The motion of the moving object is approximated by using the technique of the image processing of tracking images and the affine model. The direction of the moving object is predicted from image information obtained by applying linear Kalman filter to the motion estimation in order to reduce the search region, the moving position, and the direction of the center of the object. Along with the guidance function, the system has the announcing function to the object. The experimental results confirm the veridity and applicability of the proposed system.

  • This paper presents an approach to Back-propagation and Radial Basis Function neural network method with various training set for automatic vehicle detection from aerial images. The initial extraction of candidate object is based on Mean-shift algorithm with symmetric property of a vehicle structure. By fusing the density and the symmetry, the method can remove the ambiguous objects and reduce the cost of processing in the next stage. To extract features from the detected object, we describe the object as a log-polar shape histogram using edge strengths of object and represent the orientation and distance from its center. The spatial histogram is used for calculating the momentum of object and compensating the direction of object. BPNN and RBFNN are applied to verify the object as a vehicle using a variety of non-car training sets. The proposed algorithm shows the results which are according to the training data. By comparing the training sets, advantages and disadvantages of them have been discussed.

A Robust Algorithm for Tracking Non-rigid Objects Using Deformed Template and Level-Set Theory (템플릿 변형과 Level-Set이론을 이용한 비강성 객체 추적 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a robust object tracking algorithm based on model and edge, using deformed template and Level-Set theory. The proposed algorithm can track objects in case of background variation, object flexibility and occlusions. First we design a new potential difference energy function(PDEF) composed of two terms including inter-region distance and edge values. This function is utilized to estimate and refine the object shape. The first step is to approximately estimate the shape and location of template object based on the assumption that the object changes its shape according to the affine transform. The second step is a refinement of the object shape to fit into the real object accurately, by using the potential energy map and the modified Level-Set speed function. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can track non-rigid objects under various environments, such as largely flexible objects, objects with large variation in the backgrounds, and occluded objects.

  • Virtual construction (VC) system enables project manager to visually check mistakes in design materials by using virtual reality technology. In using VC system, to make 3D object by each construction element is still tedious work. This study suggests an improved method to make 3D object by using parameter-based 3D generation function. The IDEFO model to organize the process for the function. A VC system by this function was developed in this study and the function was verified by a bridge project in this system.

  • In this paper, the optimization design module for the brake system of a vehicle is developed. As using this module, design variables, that minimize an object function and satisfy nonlinear constraint conditions, can be found easily. Before an optimization is operated, Plackett-Burman design, one of the factorial design methods, is used to choose the design variables which affect a response function significantly. Using the response surface analysis, second order recursive model function, which informs a relation between design variables and response function, is estimated. In order to verify the reliability of the model function, analysis of variances(ANOVA) table is used. The value of design variables which minimize the model function and satisfy the constraint conditions is predicted through Sequential Quadratic-Programming (SQP) method. As applying the above procedure to a real vehicle simulation model and comparing the values of object functions of a current and optimized system, the optimization results are verified.

Design of the Gateway Function for DNP3.0 and IEC61850 (DNP 3.0과 IEC 61850 게이트웨이 기능 설계)

  • The DNP3.0 and the IEC61850 are the most important standards in the SCADA systems for the power. Each standard has strength and weakness, so they will coexist for a while. This paper presents a design of the gateway function between DNP3.0 and IEC61850. Both standards use object-oriented modelling methods, so, they have some similarities. However, the DNP3.0 objects are described by object number and index, and the IEC61850 objects are described by name. So there should be mapping function between the object number and index of DNP3.0 objects and the object name of IEC61850 objects. We analyse the communication profiles of both standards, and shows the service-primitive mapping table and the procedure of the gateway function.

  • In this paper, we used the color transfer function and the opacity transfer function for the internal 3D object visualization of an image volume data. In transfer function, creating values of between boundaries generally is ambiguous. We concentrated to extract boundary features for segmenting the visual volume rendering objects. Consequently we extracted an image gradient feature in spatial domain and created a multi-dimensional transfer function according to the GPU efficient improvement. Finally using these functions we obtained a good research result as an implementing object boundary visualization of the graphic hardware based 3D texture mapping.

  • Recently, object-oriented techniques have been used more and more for developments of an information system. But, established object-oriented methodologies are hard to express a business process of various abstract degrees in the analysis level and independent components of the system. They have difficulties in developing a large-scale information system of manufacturing industry such as PDM and CIM. This paper proposes an information system development methodology that imports the object-oriented IDEF0 (OOIDEF0) function model in analysis level. This methodology is made up of requirements gathering, system analysis, system design, and implementation. In requirements gathering level, organization diagram and interview technique are used for input data of OOIDEF0 function model. The OOIDEF0 function model, the interface model and function descriptions are made out in analysis level. Information objects and implementation objects are designed on the basis of the OOIDEF0 function model in design level. The database is built and programming is accomplished in implementation level. In order to prove the consistency and efficiency of the proposed methodology, the PDM system for ship production is modeled and prototyped.
