  • Objectives To determine the effectiveness of Chuna manual therapy combined acupuncture for trigeminal neuralgia. Methods We searched 6 electronic databases (Pubmed, CAJ, Oasis, RISS, DBPIA, KoreanTK) and 2 journals up to August 2016. We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) using Chuna manual therapy combined acupuncture for trigeminal neuralgia. The methodological quality of each RCT was assessed by the Cochrane risk of bias tool. Results 3 RCT studies were eligible in our review. The meta-analysis of 3 studies showed favorable results for the use of Chuna manual therapy combined acupuncture. High risk of bias were observed in all studies. Conclusions Although there are favorable results with meta-analysis, our systematic review are highly dependent on the single source of Chinese electrical database, CAJ. Now limited evidence is available to support Chuna manual therapy combined acupuncture for trigeminal neuralgia and further well-designed RCTs should be encouraged.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the use of Korean and English terminology of acupotomy therapy among Korean Researchers. Methods: The search was conducted on eight medical journals (PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, OASIS, KISS, IMR, NDSL, RISS), Google Scholar and 8 Korean medine journals. The definitions of acupotomy therapy, Korean and English terminology were analyzed in the studies that met the criteria. Results: A total of 60 studies were finally included in the analysis. In Korean terminology, Chim-Do was the most used with 37 studies, Do-Chim with 23 (including duplicates). In English termology, 46 studies were used acupotomy and 10 studies were used miniscalpel acupuncture. Conclusions: As a result of analyzing the terminology use of acupotomy therapy studies in Korea, it was confirmed that Korean and English terminology are different according to the study. It will be necessary to discuss the standardization of terminology.

  • Objectives To make comprehensive feature of clinical trials using herbal medicine and their results by today, then help a strategy for herbal medication-derived clinical studies in the future. Methods Through medical website (Pubmed EBSCO Medline), foreign clinical literatures about atopic dermatitis and herbal medicine were searched. And domestic clinical literatures about atopic dermatitis using internet website (OASIS) and hand-searching. Analysis was performed according to distribution mainly by subject, study design, number by year and its efficacy. Results and Conclusions Seventy-nine (Domestic literatures: Fifty, Foreign literatures: Twenty-nine) literatures were selected according to inclusion criteria of clinical study. 80% of domestic clinical literatures were observational studies, 50% of foreign were intervention. There were six adverse effect case studies, two follow-ups, one case report, four translational and four uncontrolled clinical trials in foreign literatures. And nineteen case reports, eighteen case series, two follow-up and five uncontrolled clinical studies in domestic. Six RCTs have established by four external herb therapy and two decoctions in Korea, showed positive effects. Three out of four external applications RCTs, four out of seven decoctions showed positive results in foreign studies. This study revealed the current status of atopic dermatitis clinical research using herbal drugs. To put clinical trials to use of herbal medicine in the treatment atopic dermatitis, scientific and objective-based studies should be needed.

  • Objectives Recently, the demand for complementary & alternative and personalized medical service has increased in the world. The purpose of this study was to predict the future market size of constitutional medical service in Korea through past surveyed studies Methods The portal sites of OASIS, NDSL, RISS, KISS, Koreamed, were used to select the researches related with constitutional medical service market. Total 1,477 papers were identified and 43 of them were fully reviewed. Finally, three of them picked up. Two specialists joined this review. Results and Conclusion The rate of constitutional medical service market among Korean medical service market was 23.2% in 2004 survey, 26.6% in 2007, and 23.5% in 2010. The number of Korean medical clinics and hospital was assumed 17,118 in 2020. The market size of Korean medicine was predicted 698,929 ten million won and among them, the scale of constitutional market size was 181,171 ten million won which meaned 25.9% proportion of Korean medical market size. Conclusion Constitutional medical market seems to be developed faster than Korean medical market in future.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to summarize current research trends and results regarding acupuncture treatment for hypertension. Methods: Articles published from 2009 to 2019 were searched on domestic databases (OASIS, NDSL, RISS) and PubMed using the keywords 'Hypertension', 'Hypertensive', 'Acupuncture', 'EA' (electroacupuncture), 'Autonomic nervous system', 'ANS', 'CVD' (cardiovascular disease), '고혈압', '침', '전침', and '자율신경계'. The studies were analyzed according to the year, type of study (domestic or foreign articles, nationality of the first author), acupuncture type for human and animal studies, BP (blood pressure) measurement, and acupuncture intervention. Results: In total, 21 articles were selected. There were 8 randomized controlled trials (RCTs), 3 non-randomized controlled trials (nRCTs), 2 before-after studies, 1 case series, and 7 animal studies. Manual acupuncture (11 articles) was most frequently used, and ST36 (足三里) was most frequently used in human studies. In 18 of 21 articles, acupuncture was reported as effective in lowering systolic blood pressure (SBP) or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in hypertensive patients. Conclusions: Acupuncture treatment for hypertension is deemed useful. Further studies are necessary for application of acupuncture therapy in clinical practice.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to present several proposals for future pulse diagnosis practice and research by investigating the trend of pulse diagnosis studies in Korea. Methods: We searched online medical databases, including National Discovery for Science Leaders (NDSL), the Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS), the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), and the Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal (KTKP), for pulse diagnosis articles in Korea. We selected articles on pulse diagnosis but excluded duplicate articles, articles irrelevant to pulse diagnosis, and articles published in foreign countries. Results: In the first screening, 801 articles were selected. We found 251 articles and classified them according to category. The medical engineering field had 148 articles. A total of 24 articles were related to algorithms for pulse wave detection, 34 to sensors, five to pressurization technology, 16 to systems, 11 to remote medical service, five to mobiles, nine to trends, and 44 to basic research. The Korean medicine field had 103 articles. A total of 41 articles were devoted to literature reviews, 20 to case reports, 11 to constitutional medicine, six to experimental studies, and 25 to relevant research. Conclusion: More efforts to practice pulse diagnosis for various diseases should be made and the results actively published.

  • We study the kinematical properties of the Seyfert galaxy, NGC 4051 and Mrk 79. The data used in this study had been observed with OASIS spectrometer at CFHT 3.6m telescope using O300 grism, MR1. The wavelength coverage is $4760{\AA}$ $-5558{\AA}$, which includes emission lines, $H{\beta}4861{\AA}$, $[OIII]4959{\AA}$, and $[OIII]5007{\AA}$. We observe that forbidden lines have both narrow and broad components. Radial velocity of NGC 4051 is blue-shifted, perhaps due to the z value derived by the earlier studies, 0.002336. We use the revised z, 0.002099, according to the radial velocity of the central spectrum. NGC 4051 is face-on galaxy without rotation observed. Radial velocity of Mrk 79 shows a rotation characteristic in narrow components, relative to $PA=60^{\circ}$, red-shifted to north-west, and blue-shifted to south-east. In the [OIII] broad components, blue-shifted points are observed at the place at 2 arcsec apart from the center of Mrk 79 to north-west, which are likely to be gas outflow.
