부지화 잎의 화학성분에 기반한 질소결핍 여부 구분 머신러닝 모델 개발 (Development of Machine Learning Models Classifying Nitrogen Deficiency Based on Leaf Chemical Properties in Shiranuhi (Citrus unshiu × C. sinensis))

  • 본 연구에서는 부지화 잎의 무기양분 농도 측정 결과를 바탕으로 질소를 제외한 다른 무기양분의 함량을 통해서 잎의 질소 결핍 여부를 구분하는 머신러닝 모델을 개발하였다. 그러기 위해서 부지화의 질소결핍구와 대조구의 잎 샘플을 분석한 36개의 데이터를 부트스트랩핑 방법을 통해서 학습용 데이터셋 1,000 여 개로 증량시켰다. 이를 이용해 학습한 각 모델을 테스트한 결과, gradient boosting 모델이 가장 우수한 분류성능을 보여주었다. 본 모델을 이용해 질소함량을 직접적으로 분석할 수 없는 경우, 잎의 무기성분 함량에 기반하여 질소결핍 가능성 여부를 판단해 질소가 부족한 부지화 나무를 분별하고, 정확한 질소함량을 측정하게 유도하여 그에 기초한 적정 질소비료 시비를 가능케 하고자 하였다.

'매향' 딸기의 마그네슘 영양진단을 위한 결핍증상 및 식물체 내 한계농도 (Characterization of Symptom and Determination of Tissue Critical Concentration for Diagnostic Criteria in 'Maehyang' Strawberry (Fragaria$\times$ananassa Duch.) as Influenced by Magnesium Concentrations in the Fertigation Solution)

  • 마그네슘 시비농도를 인위적으로 조절하여 '매향' 딸기를 관비재배하면서 Mg의 시비수준이 생장과 결핍증상 발현에 미치는 영향을 구명하고, 건전생육을 유지할 수 있는 식물체 및 토양의 한계농도를 밝히기 위하여 본 연구를 수행하였다. 마그네슘 결핍증상은 하위엽에서 발생하였으며, 초기에 하위엽의 엽맥 사이에서 반점 형태의 황화현상이 나타난 후 점차 반점 부위가 확산되어 엽맥간 황화현상으로 발전하였다 또한 증상이 심해지면서 엽맥 사이가 검게 변하고, 하위엽 선단의 갈변 및 괴사하는 증상이 발생하였다. Mg시비농도를 조절하여 관비하고 정식 120일 후에 지상부 생육을 조사한 결과 Mg 1.0 또는 2mM의 처리에서 생육이 우수하였으며, 0.5 이하나 4mM 이상으로 Mg 시비농도를 조절한 처리의 생장이 저조해지는 경향이었다. 건물중은 마그네슘 시비농도에 대하여 3차 곡선회귀적인 반응을 보였으며 식물체당 약 8.2g의 건물중을 생산할 때 정점이 형성되었다. 최대 생장량의 90%를 최저 한계점으로 간주하면 식물체당 7.4g 이상의 건물중을 생산하기 위해서는 Mg 함량이 $0.30\sim0.65%$의 범위에 포함되도록 시비해야 하며, 최적 시비농도는 약 2mM 이라고 판단하였다. 또한, 최대 생산량인 식물체당 생체중 36.2g의 90%를 최저 및 치고 한계점으로 간주 할 경우 엽병 추출액의 Mg농도가 $19\sim40mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$의 범위에 포함되도록 시비해야 한다고 판단하였다.

3가 크롬의 보조제로서의 역할 (The Role of Trivalent Chromium as a Supplement)

  • 인슐린 작용을 강화시키는 LMWCr의 발견과 크롬 결핍과 관련 있는 포도당 불내성(glucose intolerance)이 크롬 투여 시 반응을 보여준 임상적 증명 이후, 크롬은 확실한 필수 영양소로 인식되고 보조제로 사용되고 있다. 시험관 실험에서 고농도의 3가 크롬을 배양 세포에 노출 시, 일부 연구 결과에서 염색체이상 유발과 변이원성 효과가 발견되긴 하였으나 이는 비타민 A, D, 니코틴산, 셀레늄 등과 같은 많은 다른 영양소의 과잉 섭취 시 독성 효과를 나타내는 정도로 해석되며, 시험관 실험 결과들이 발암성의 증거로 해석되지는 않는다. 3가 크롬을 경구 보조제로 투여된 임상 치료에서 환자들은 독성효과를 보이지 않았으며, 혈장 내 크롬 수치가 비 투여된 사람들에 비하여 조금 높았다. 크롬을 TPN 형태로 투여받은 환자들에게서도 우려했던 신체ㆍ정신적 효과와의 상관 관계가 없었으며 신기능부전을 나타낸 경우는 신장 독성을 주는 약들을 함께 복용한 경우로서, 우려되는 부작용은 없는 것으로 인정된다. 임상학적, 실험적으로 사용된 3가 크롬의 용량은 ESADDI 규정된 범위 50∼200 $\mu$g/day에서 전혀 독성을 나타내지 않았으며, 일반적인 사용에 기준이 될 것이다. EPA는 모든 관련 자료들을 검토한 후에 크롬의 참고용량 (RfD) 수치를 70 mg/day로 결론지었으며, 다른 영양소들의 용량과 비교했을 때 대단히 넓은 수치이다. 3가 크롬은 당뇨병, 임신성 당뇨병, 인슐린 내성, 비정상적 지방대사를 개선시키기 위한 영양소로서 가능성을 가진다. 또한 크롬의 보충은 제II형 당뇨병과 다양한 심혈관계 질환을 예방하거나 치료하는데 가장 유용한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 앞으로는 크롬 보조제 사용 시, 일부 연구자들이 3가 크롬 1000 $\mu$g/day의 안전성을 입증한 것과 같이 용량을 늘려 임상실험을 시도한 후 안전과 효능을 증명하는 것이 필요하다.

농촌 중학생의 식사양식, 영양지식 및 식품기호도 (Meal pattern, Nutrition Knowledge and Food preference of Rural middle school students)

  • This study was undertaken to investigate meal pattern, nutrition knowledge and food preference of 438 rural middle school students living in ChunNam area. As far as nutrition knowledge is concerned, most subjects did not answer correctly on the items of basic five food groups, animal fat and vegetable oil, empty source of soft drink, nutrient requirement and water's role in energy metabolism. However they responded well on the item of iron deficiency and dietary source of Ca. Male students were significantly better in the answering the items of dietary source of energy and nutrient requirement than females, while female students were significantly better on the items of water's role in energy metabolism related to obesity. Generally the respondents did neither consume oil often nor consider consumption of salty food. Furthermore, only 38.6% of subjects drink milk daily in spite of understanding dietary source of Ca, which suggested that they should incorporate nutrition knowledge into dietary behavior. The preferred foods for most subjects were fruit, kimbab and ice cream. Contrastingly the food that they did not prefer was fermented vegetable probably due to strong flavor.

The Identification of Limiting Nutrients Using Algal Bioassay Experiments (ABEs) in Boryeong Reservoir after the Construction of Water Tunnel

  • The objective of the study was to determine nutrition regime and limitation in the Boryeng Reservoir where there's a water tunnel between Geum River and the reservoir. Evaluation was conducted through in situ algal bioassay experiments (in situ ABEs) using the cubitainer setting in the reservoirs. For in situ ABEs, we compared and analyzed variations in chlorophyll-a (CHL-a) and phosphorus concentrations in Boryeong Reservoir before and after the water tunnel construction. We then analyzed the nutrient effects on the reservoir. Analysis for nitrogen and phosphorus was done in the three locations of the reservoir and two locations of the ABEs. The in situ ABEs results showed that phosphorous and Nitrogen, the primary limiting nutrient regulating the algal biomass was not limited in the system. The treatments of phosphorus or simultaneous treatments of N+P showed greater algal growth than in the control of nitrate-treatments, indicating a phosphorus deficiency on the phytoplankton growth in the system. The water from the Geum River had 5 times higher total phosphorus (TP) than the water in the reservoir. Efficient management is required as pumping of the river water from Geum River may accelerate the eutrophication of the reservoir.

인산결핍 조건하에서 질소고정식물체내의 Ureide 분배 (Ureide Distribution in Nitrogen Fixing Soybean Plant under External Phosphorus Limitation)

  • 인산 결핍이 질소고정식물체의 Ureide 농도 및 분배에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 Bradyrhizobium japonicum MN 110을 접종한 대두 식물체를 1.0 mM-P(대조구) 및 0.05 mM-P(결핍구)를 함유한 무질소 영양액을 처리, 재배하여 이식 28, 35,42, 49일 후 수확하였다. 3주의 실험기간중 건물량은 대조구의 경우 8.9배, 결점구의 경우 2.7배 증가하였다. 인산 결핍구에서 식물체의 전질소 및 인산의 함량은 이식 후 28일에 각각 80%,40%,49일에 각각 93%, 84% 감소하였으며 뿌리 및 근류보다 잎과 줄기의 질소 농도가 크게 감소하였다. 인산 결핍은 잎과 줄기의 수용태 및 ureide태 질소 농도를 감소시켰으나 뿌리의 경우 영향을 받지 않았으며 인산결점구의 경우 전체 수용태 및 ureide태 질소의 함량중 뿌리 함유량 비율이 대조구에 비하여 증가하였다. 이러한 결과는 인산 결핍이 근류의 질소고정뿐만 아니라 고정질소의 상향 이동도 저해함을 나타낸다.

Iron Nutritional Status of Infants and Young Children in the Seoul Area

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the iron nutritional status by investigating dietary intake and analyzing the hematological iron status indices including serum transferrin receptor (sTfR) in 8 to 28 month old infants md young children taking supplementary foods. The nutrient intake of 60 healthy infants and young children from 8 to 24 months of age was investigated by means of a 24-hour recall method, and the subjects were divided into 2 groups (8- 12 months and 13-28 months) according to age. Venous blood samples from these groups were collected and measured for the following : hemoglobin(Hb), hematocrit(Hct) , mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), serum ferritin, serum iron, total iron binding capacity (TIBC), and sTfR. Anemia is defined as hemoglobin < 11g /dl , serum ferritin level < 10ng1m1 for iron deficiency , serum transferring receptor(sTfR) > 4.5mg / 1 for iron deficient erythropoiesis. Total daily calorie intake was 934.6 ${\pm}$ 284.5kcal (98.32% of RDA) on average. Average daily iron intake in infants aged 8 to 12 months was 8.92 ${\pm}$ 3.32mg. The mean daily iron intake in infants aged 13 to 28 months was 7.15 ${\pm}$ 3.35mg (90% of Recommended Dietary Allowance, RDA). Mean values for Hb, Hct sew ferritin and sTfR were 12.10 ${\pm}$ 0.77g141,36.02 ${\pm}$ 2.31%,20.91 ${\pm}$ 11.58ng/m1 and 3.78 ${\pm}$ 1.47mg /1, respectively. In the young children from 13 to 28 months of age, the prevalence of anemia was 5.6%. The prevalence of iron deficiency was 9.5% in those from 8 to 12 months of age, and 27.8% in those from 13 to 28 months of age. The prevalence of iron deficient erythropoiesis was 16.7% in infants aged 8 to 12 months and 44.4% in those aged 13 to 28 months. The prevalence of both serum ferritin level < 10ng/m1 sTfR > 4.5mg/1 was 22% in the young children aged 13 to 28 months. The measureand ment of sTfR may be a promising new tool in diagnosis of iron deficiency in early childhood when the iron deficiency is prevalent. It seems appropriate to emphasize nutritional education and evaluation to promote the iron nutritional status of infants and young children.

농촌과 중소도시지역 40세 이상 성인의 영양소 섭취 질의 평가 (Evaluation of Nutrient Intake Quality Over 40 Year-Old People Living in Rural and Suburban Areas)

  • To assess the quality of nutrient intake by area of Korean adults, a dietary survey with the 3-day record method was obtained from 324 subjects aged 40 years and older but younger than 70 (52.4 $\pm$ 8.7) living in a rural area (Ansung) and suburban area of a middle-sized city (Ansan). The quality of nutrient intake was assessed by analyzing Nutrient Adequacy Ratio (NAR), Mean Adequacy Ratio (MAR) and Index of Nutritional Quality (INQ). The average daily mean energy intakes were 1,832 ㎉ for Ansung and 1,842 ㎉ for Ansan, respectively. Daily intakes of fat for Ansung and Ansan subjects were 40.9 and 40.3 g, and those for protein were 75.1 and 73.1 g, respectively. The overall calorie: protein: fat ratio (CPF) of energy intake was 63 : 17 : 20. Daily mean intakes of protein, fat, calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, carotene, sodium, thiamin, and niacin were significantly higher in Ansung residents than in Ansan subjects (p < .05). The average intakes of energy, calcium, vitamin A were lower than Recommend Dietary Allowance (RDA) in both areas. Note, over 30% of the study subjects had less than 75% of RDA of calcium, vitamin A and riboflavin. The MAR was higher in Ansung than Ansan residents (0.86 and 0.85, respectively; p < .05). INQs were over 1 for most nutrients except calcium (0.87), and that of calcium and phosphorus was each significantly higher in Ansung than Ansan subjects. Based on these results, nutrient intake quality of subjects aged 40 to 69 years living in the surveyed rural area is comparable to that of semi-industrialized suburban area in Korea. Dietary deficiency in all of calcium, vitamin A, and riboflavin, however, was a common problem for both rural and suburban residents.

Seasonal Variations in Voluntary Intake and Apparent Digestibility of Forages in Goats Grazing on Introduced Leymus chinensis Pasture

  • The nutrient composition of pasture, voluntary intake and digestibility of diet ingested by goats grazing on an introduced Leymus chinensis pasture were measured across spring (May), summer (July), autumn (October) and winter (March). In each season, 12 Inner Mongolian Cashmere goats (6 wethers and 6 does with an average live weight of $22.2{\pm}1.3$ kg and $19.5{\pm}0.8$ kg, respectively) were used to graze on a 2 hectares size paddock. Diet selection was observed and the plant parts selected by grazing goats and whole plant L. chinensis were sampled simultaneously. The alkane pair $C_{32}:C_{33}$ and $C_{36}$ were used to estimate intake and digestibility, respectively. The results showed that the plant parts selected by goats had higher crude protein (CP) and lower acid detergent fiber (ADF) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) than the whole plant, especially in the autumn and winter. The voluntary intake of dry matter (DM), CP, ADF, NDF, and metabolizable energy (ME) by goats was highest in summer (p<0.05). The goats ingested more CP, ME, and less ADF in spring than in autumn (p<0.05). The intakes of DM, CP, and ME were lowest in winter (p<0.05). There were significant differences in nutrient intake between wethers and does in each season, except for the ADF and ME intake per metabolic weight ($LW^{0.75}$). The nutrient digestibilities were higher in spring and summer, and decreased significantly during the autumn and winter (p<0.05). Goats, especially wethers, had a relative constant NDF digestibility across seasons, however, the apparent digestibility of CP in both wethers and does, decreased to negative values in winter. The grazing goats experienced relatively sufficient nutrients supply in spring and summer, and a severe deficiency of CP and ME in winter.

Association between taste perception, nutrient intake, and mental health in young Japanese women

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Taste perception is influenced by both nutritional factors and psychological factors. This study was undertaken to measure the 4 basic taste perceptions, nutrient intake, and mental health, and to examine the factors that affect insensitive taste perception in young Japanese women. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Young women in their late teens and twenties were enrolled as subjects. Taste perception was measured by applying the filter-paper disc method over areas of the chorda tympani nerve. Nutritional status was evaluated using brief, self-administered diet history questionnaires. The index of nutritional status was based on the 2015 Japanese dietary reference intakes. Mental health was assessed using the Japanese translation of the Profile of Mood States short version. This study was approved by the ethical committee at Osaka University. RESULTS: The normal taste perception group (four basic tastes [sweet, salty, sour, and bitter] identified as normal taste perception) comprised 55.4% of the subjects, while the abnormal taste perception group (more than 1 abnormal taste perception was perceived, regardless of flavor) comprised 44.6% of the subjects. There were no significant differences in nutrient intake (except manganese) and mental health between the normal and abnormal taste perception groups. Subjects who took 5 mg to less than 7.1 mg zinc per day were at significantly decreased risk of insensitive taste perception compared to subjects who consumed less than 5 mg zinc per day [Regression coefficient 0.831, 95% confidence interval 0.694-0.996]. CONCLUSION: The present results suggest that insensitive taste perception could be associated with zinc deficiency in young women in their late teens and twenties.
