Polyethersulfone 중공사 분리막에 의한 이산화탄소 분리 : 실험과 수치해석 비교 (Carbon Dioxide Separation by Hollow Fiber Membrane of Polyethersulfone : Comparison of Experimental Results with Numerical Analysis Data)

  • 동일 운전 조건에서 폴리이서술폰 중공사 분리막을 이용하여 혼합 기체로부터 이산화탄소 분리 실험과 수치해석으로 얻어진 결과를 비교하였다. 순수한 기체의 투과도로부터 구한 이상 선택도를 활용한 예측값과 실험값이 많은 차이 가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 이산화탄소 투과도와 선택도를 혼합 기체 분리 실험 결과로부터 구한 후 공급 이산화탄소 몰 분율, 공급 압력과 투과측 압력의 함수로서 투과도와 선택도를 얻을 경우 수치해석 예측값과 실험값이 잘 일치하는 것을 확인하였다.

  • In general, a method for generating irregular wave by combination of component waves obtained from linear wave theory is widely used. In these method, however, mean water surface elevation is rising from time to time because of nonlinear effect of wave. In this study, for the rising problem of mean water surface elevation and stabilization of calculation from time to time, mass transport velocity for horizontal velocity at wave source position is considered. The rising problem of mean water surface elevation is checked by comparing calculated wave profile from numerical technique proposed in this study with target wave profile at wave source position in numerical wave tank by using CADMAS-SURF code. And, by generating irregular wave, the validity of wave overtopping rate estimated from this numerical analysis is discussed by comparing computed results with measured results in hydraulic model experiments for vertical seawall located on a sloping sea bottom. As a results, the computations are validated against the previously experimental results by hydraulic model test and numerical results of this study and a good agreement is observed. Therefore, numerical technique of this study is a powerful tool for estimating wave overtopping rate over the crest of coastal structure.

바닥의 움직임에 따른 선형파의 생성을 모의할 수 있는 간편 수치해석 기법 (A Simplified Numerical Method for Simulating the Generation of Linear Waves by a Moving Bottom)

  • 본 연구에서는 바닥의 움직임에 따른 파랑의 생성 및 변화를 모의할 수 있는 간단한 선형 수치해석 기법을 소개한다. 연속방정식과 선형의 동역학적 및 운동학적 자유수면 경계조건, 선형의 운동학적 바닥 경계조건을 공간에 대해 푸리에 변환한 후 파수 영역에서 수치해석을 수행하며, 결과는 푸리에 역변환을 통해 공간영역에서 표현된다. 파수 영역에서 동역학적 자유수면 경계조건과 운동학적 자유수면 경계조건이 수치적으로 계산되며, 이 때 평균수면 (z = 0)에서의 속도포텐셜은 연속방정식과 운동학적 바닥 경계조건을 만족한다. 삼각형 및 사각형 형상의 바닥이 주기적으로 움직이는 경우의 파랑 생성 및 전파에 대해 검토하였다. 간편 수치해석 기법을 이용한 결과는 기존의 선형 해석해와 비교하였으며, 거의 일치하는 결과를 보였다. 계산 시간간격(Δt)과 계산 파수간격(Δk)에 따른 수치해석 결과의 안정성에 대해서도 검토하였다. 검토 결과 Δt ≤T(주기)/1000, Δk ≤ π/100 일 때 수치해석에 의한 결과가 적절하게 도출되는 것으로 나타났다.

A technique for the identification of friction at tool/chip interface during machining

  • Numerical simulation of chip formation during high speed machining requires knowing the friction at tool/chip interface. This parameter is hardly identified and generally the loadings (temperature, force) during the identification are not similar to those encountered during machining. Thus, Coulomb friction identified with pin-on-disc device is often used to conduct numerical simulation. The used of this technique cannot leads to good numerical results of chip formation compared to the experimental tests especially in the case of low uncut chip thickness. In this contribution, we propose a new method to evaluate the friction at tool/chip interface. In fact several Coulomb friction parameters are identified corresponding to several parts of the cutting tool. Experimental tests have been conducted allowed us to determinate both the level and the distribution of the Coulomb friction. Experimental results are also compared to the results of orthogonal cutting simulation. We show that this technique allows predicting accuracy results of chip formation.

물분무에 의한 화재제어 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fire Suppression Characteristics Using a Water Mist)

  • The present study investigates the fire suppression characteristics using a water mist fire suppression system. Numerical simulations of fire suppression with water mist are performed with considering the interaction of fire plume and water droplet, droplet evaporation, and combustion of pool fire. The predicted temperature fields of smoke layer are compared with that of measured data. Numerical results agree with the experimental results within 5$^{\circ}C$ in the case without water mist In the case of fire suppression with water mist, numerical results dose not predict well lot temperature field in the gradual cooling region after water mist injection. But the predicted results of initial fire suppression are in good agreement with that of measured data. The reason of the discrepancy between predicted and measured data is due to the variation of turning rate during the injection of water mist. The effect of burning rate on the fire suppression is left as future study.

A tensile criterion to minimize FE mesh-dependency in concrete beams under blast loading

  • This paper focuses on the mesh-size dependency in numerical simulations of reinforced concrete (RC) structures subjected to blast loading. A tensile failure criterion that can minimize the mesh-dependency of simulation results is introduced based on the fracture energy theory. In addition, conventional plasticity based damage models for concrete such as the CSC model and the HJC model, which are widely used for blast analyses of concrete structures, are compared with the orthotropic model that adopts the introduced tensile failure criterion in blast tests to verify the proposed criterion. The numerical predictions of the time-displacement relations at the mid-span of RC beams subjected to blast loading are compared with experimental results. The analytical results show that the numerical error according to the change in the finite element mesh size is substantially reduced and the accuracy of the numerical results is improved by applying a unique failure strain value determined by the proposed criterion.

상대식 지하철 역사내 화재시 연기제어에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Smoke Control in Side-Platform Type Subway Station Fires)

  • In this study, numerical simulations were carried out to analyze the effect of the smoke extraction system and fire shutters in subway station fires using FDS 4.0. Subway station used in the experiment was 205 m long. Simulation results are validated by comparing with experimental results. Simulation results showed good agreement with experimental results within $20\;^{\circ}C$. 20 MW polystyrene was used as a fuel in the numerical prediction. Numerical predictions were performed in the side-platform type subway station in case of a train fire. Temperature and CO concentration were lowered by the operation of smoke extraction system.

RBM 굴착에 따른 수직구의 3차원적 거동 연구 (A study on the 3-dimensional behavior of shaft by the RBM reaming)

  • To investigate the behavior of air-shaft and existing tunnel by excavating the small-diameter shaft into the existing tunnel, prototype air-shaft was constructed and analyzed in this study. Geotechnical characterization was conducted by boring and rock cores obtained were tested in the laboratory. Field monitoring including radial and tangential stresses and displacements was conducted with the 3-dimensional numerical analysis of prototype air-shaft. Results of field monitoring were compared with the numerical results. The results showed that maximum displacement of 2.11mm and maximum tangential stress of 54.0 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ were obtained during shaft excavation near the right shoulder of the existing tunnel. The comparison of these field measurements with 3-dimensional numerical analysis showed that much more higher stress was measured during excavation compared to the numerical results even though the trends of stress and displacement were similar.

  • The paper presents the numerical and experimental results for the dynamic response vibration of a cantilevered beam subjected to a moving mass with variable speeds. Governing equations of motion under a moving mass were derived by Galerkin's mode summation method taking into account the effects of all forces due to moving mass, and the numerical results were calculated by Runge-Kutta integration method. The effects of the speed, acceleration and the magnitude of the moving mass on the response of the beam are fully investigated. In order to verify numerical results, some experiments were conducted, and the numerical results have a little difference with the experimental ones.

섬식 지하철역사내 화재시 연기제어에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Smoke Control in Center-Platform Type Subway Station Fires)

Simulation results showed good agreement with experimental results within $10^{\circ}C$. 10 MW polystyrene was used as a fuel in the numerical prediction. Numerical predictions were performed in the center-platform type subway station in case of a kiosk fire. Temperature and CO concentration were lowered by the operation of smoke extraction system. But, the operation of fire shutters had little effect on temperature and CO concentration in the platform level.
