  • This paper is the introduction of our work on distributed load scheduling in single-level tree network. In this paper, we derive a new calculation model in single-level tree network and show a closed-form formulation of the time for computation system. There are so many examples of the application of this technology such as distributed database, biology computation on genus, grid computing, numerical computing, video and audio signal processing, etc.

  • This work is a modified version of an earlier work that was based on ellipsoidal type feasible sets. Unlike the earlier work, polyhedral types of invariant and feasible sets are adopted to deal with input constraints. The use of polyhedral sets enables the formulation of on-line algorithm in terms of QP (Quadratic Programming), which can be solved more efficiently than semi-def algorithms. A simple numerical example shows that the proposed method yields larger stabilizable sets with greater bounds on disturbances than is the case in the earlier approach.

  • In the discrete formulation of the bubble stabilized Legendre Galerkin methods, the system of equations includes the artificial viscosity term as the parameter. We investigate the estimation of this parameter to get the optimal solution which minimizes the maximum error. Some numerical results are reported.

  • Radiation characteristics of axial elementary current source on the cylindrical bianisotropic substrateloaded with bianisotropic superstrate layer are presented. The effects of bianisotropic superstrate cover on the radiation problems of a microstrip antenna are studied. This investigation is performed by using the Green function formulation in the spectral domain. Numerical results for the radiation pattern of the bianisotropic superstrate-loaded microstrip antenna is analyzed.

  • This paper concerns the location of the transit point between adjacent loops and guide direction of loops in the tandem configuration manufacturing system. The tandem configuration has been used to solve control problems like the vehicle dispatching and traffic control. The transit point between loops needs to deliver the parts from one loop to another. The location of transit point between adjacent loops and direction of loops must be determined to minimize the total travel time of parts in the manufacturing system. The model formulation is developed, a numerical example is shown.

  • The regimes of elastohydrodynamic lubrication at the points where line contacts occur between the vane tip and camring in an oil hydraulic vane pump is studied. A study of the contact conditions in vane pump provided most of the early interest in the possibility of fluid film lubrication in highly loaded contacts. The variation of viscosity with pressure and the elastic deformation associated with the high pressures generated in the contact region are the major causes of the complexity attributed to lubrication behavior. Therefore a numerical solutions to the problem of elastohydrodynamic lubrication of line contact are obtained by using a finite-difference formulation.

  • A derivative based approach to process optimal design in powder forging is presented. The process model, the formulation for process optimal design, and the schemes for the evaluation of the design sensitivity, and an iterative procedure for the optimization are described in detail. The validity of the schemes for the evaluation of the design sensitivity is examined by performing numerical tests. The capability of the proposed approach to deal with diverse process parameters and objective functions is demonstrated through applications to some selected process design problems.

  • In recent years, the theory of Wiener-Hopf equations has emerged as a novel and innovative technique for developing efficient and powerful numerical methods for solving variational inequalities and complementarity problems. In this paper, we provide an account of some of the fundamental aspects of the Wiener-Hopf equations with major emphasis on the formulation, computational algorithms, various generalizations and their applications. We also suggest some open problems for further research with sufficient information and references.

  • A mathematical definition of the cluster is suggested. A nonlinear 0-1 integer programming formulation for the multi-dimensional entity clustering problem is developed. A heuristic method named MDEC (Multi-Dimensional Entity Clustering) using centroids and the binary partition is developed and the numerical examples are shown. This method has an advantage of providing bottle-neck entity informations.

  • This paper presents a new analytic approach using tetrahedrons to determine the forward kinematics of the 3-6-type Stewart platform. By using of the tetrahedral geometry, this approach has the advantage of greatly reducing the complexity of formulation and the computational burden required by the conventional methods which have been solved the forward kinematics with three unknown angles. As a result, this approach allows a significant abbreviation in the formulations and provides an easier means of obtaining the solutions. The proposed method is well verified through a series of numerical simulation.
