During wartime, the Air Force have to plan where, and how much, and what need to be distributed to surrounding local area from a chosen central bases. Each base, which has surplus more than needed amount of a certain material collected from near area of the base, is expected to distribute such surplus to other bases in shortage of it. By sending such surplus to other bases in shortage of the material, every base may get sufficient amount of all kinds of materials needed for each base during wartime. Because number of items of materials needed in each military bases during wartime are usually quite large and the frequencies of delivery from a place to other place are also pretty large if each item is delivered from a surplus place to other places in shortage, the Head Quarter of Air Force or the Logistics Command will face to difficulty to decide a reasonable delivery plan between bases for efficient and fast allocation of all materials needed to all bases during wartime. Therefore, this study suggests a solving algorithm with an established TC (transfer center: collecting and distributing center for all materials) to solve such a distribution and transportation problem.
Because of the global warming, the Arctic Ocean is expected to be ice-free by the year 2035. When the Arctic Ocean will be opened, a number of national interests will become more salient as experiencing a shortened sailing distance and decreasing navigation expense, possibility of natural resources transport by sea from Arctic Circle, and indirect-profit making by building a herb port in Asia. To secure the national interests and support the free activities of people in this region, R.O.K government is trying to make advanced policies. In order to carry out the naval tasks in the Arctic Ocean, using the operational characteristics(mobility, flexibility, sustainability, presence of capabilities, projection) is necessary. To this end, ROK Navy should analyze the operational environment (O.E.) by its capability(weakness and strength), opportunity, and threat. R.O.K. Navy should make an effort over the following issues to implement the tasks in the Arctic Ocean: first, Navy needs to map out her own plan (Roadmap) under the direction of government policies and makes crews participate in the education·training programs in home and abroad for future polar experts. Third, to develop the forces and materials for the tasks in cold, far operations area, Navy should use domestic well-experienced shipbuilding skills and techniques of the fourth industrial revolution. Next, improving the combined operations capabilities and military trust with other countries in the Arctic region to cover the large area with lack of forces' number and to resolve the ports of call issues. Lastly, preparation in advance to execute a variety of missions against military and non-traditional threats such as epidemics, HA/DR, SOLAS, in the future operation area is required.
With rapid growth in the amount of data transferred on the Internet, traditional storage systems have reached the limits of their capacity and performance. SAN (Storage Area Network), which connects hosts to disk with the Fibre Channel switches, provides one of the powerful solutions to scale the data storage and servers. In this environment, the maintenance of data consistency among hosts is an important issue because multiple hosts share the files on disks attached to the SAN. To preserve data consistency, each host can execute the disk I/O whenever disk read and write operations are requested. However, frequent disk I/O requests cause the deterioration of the overall performance of a SAN cluster. In this paper, we introduce a SANtopia global buffer manager to improve the performance of a SAN cluster reducing the number of disk I/Os. We describe the design and algorithms of the SANtopia global buffer manager, which provides a buffer cache sharing mechanism among the hosts in the SAN cluster. Micro-benchmark results to measure the performance of block I/O operations show that the global buffer manager achieves speed-up by the factor of 1.8-12.8 compared with the existing method using disk I/O operations. Also, File system micro-benchmark results show that SANtopia file system with the global buffer manager improves performance by the factor of 1.06 in case of directories and 1.14 in case of files compared with the file system without a global buffer manager.

SSDs are one of the best media to support portable and desktop computers' storage devices. Their features include non-volatility, low power consumption, and fast access time for read operations, which are sufficient to present flash memories as major database storage components for desktop and server computers. However, we need to improve traditional index management schemes based on B-Tree due to the relatively slow characteristics of flash memory operations, as compared to RAM memory. In order to achieve this goal, we propose a new index management scheme based on a compressed hot-cold clustering called CHC-Tree. CHC-Tree-based index management improves index operation performance by dividing index nodes into hot or cold segments and compressing pointers and keys in the index nodes and clustering the hot or cold segments. The offset compression techniques using unused free area in cold index node lead to reduce the number of slow erase operations in index node insert/delete processes. Simulation results show that our scheme significantly reduces the write and erase operation overheads, improving the index search performance of B-Tree by up to 26 percent, and the index update performance by up to 23 percent.

The effect of the code conversion process of Korean script (Hangul), also known as words for numbers, was investigated using event-related potentials (ERPs) during mental arithmetic operations. Study subjects were asked to determine whether the arithmetic results of a given target stimuli were correctly matched. Visual inspection and statistics of mean ERPs showed stimulus type-dependent processing rather than task-dependent processing. Results of addition and multiplication tasks revealed that the overall temporal profiles of the Arabic numerals were similar to the Hangul words for numbers. The only exception to this observation was a delayed positive-slope peak occurring around 300 ms, which was likely related to the encoding process of Hangul words for numbers to Arabic-digits, defined as a 'transcoding-related potential.' Source analysis confirmed that the topography of different waveforms for the two conditions was attributed to a single dipole located in the left temporo-parietal area; this area is known to be involved in Hangul words for number processing. These results suggest that the initial processing for encoding words for numbers was followed by arithmetic operations without direct access of internal number representation. We have compared Korean and American mathematics curriculums in 5 areas: whole number(concepts and its operations); geometry; pattern and relations; measurements; statistics and probability. We have found significant differences in geometry area. Korean curriculums contain simple planar figures (circles, triangles, rectangles, and squres) and some of the spatial figures until 3rd grades. But in America they learn various planar and spatial fugures(cone, pyramid, triangular prism, etc) since the 1st grade starts. They also start the 1st grade by dealing with topological concepts like open/closed, inside/outside, order, etc. As the grade goes on, students learn other geometrical concepts like congruence, symmetry, 3-dimensional views. We also found that American curriculum focuses on students' activities and courages communication through projects, groupwork, journal writing, etc. It's also superior in respects of motivation, and connections with real life and other subjects. Korean curriculum needs more improvements in these aspects. Furthermore for lower graders reviewing sections need to be enhanced for feedback.

The economic world is full of patterns, many of which exert a profound influence over society and business. One of the most contentious is the distribution of wealth. Way back in 1897, an Italian engineer-turned-economist named Vilfredo Pareto discovered a pattern in the distribution of wealth that appears to be every bit as universal as the laws of thermodynamics or chemistry. The present paper proposes some Bayes estimators of shape parameter of Pareto income distribution in censored sampling. Asymmetric LINEX loss function has been considered to study the effects of overestimation and underestimation. For the prior distribution of the parameter involved a number of priors including one and two-parameter exponential, truncated Erlang and doubly truncated gamma have been contemplated to express the belief of the experimenter s/he has regarding the parameter. The estimators thus obtained have been compared theoretically and empirically with the corresponding estimators under squared error loss function, some of which were reported by Bhattacharya et al. (1999).

Structural design, generally engineering design, is a complex process combinding design knowledges and analysis techniques. While analysis techniques can be automated in an algorithmic fashion, relatively little work has been done in the area of the design automation. An effect approach method for the automation of the engineering design may be a hybrid system, in which design knowledges, specification requirements and interpretations are represented using an expert system methodology and numerically intensive operations of the design process are implemented using an algorithmic language such as FORTRAN. The purpose of this paper is concentrated on the knowledge of K-CLIPS(KAIST-C Language Integrated Production System) used to design and implement this hybrid system. In K-CLIPS, some representation methods : frame, production rule, fact and user defined function are used to construct the knowledge base. The hierarchical knowledges could be expressed more naturally with a little number of rules than other plain production systems.

Due to extreme urbanization, ground transportation in the city center is saturated, and problems such as the lack of expansion infrastructure and traffic congestion increase social costs. To solve this problem, a 3D mobility platform, Urban Air Mobility (UAM), has emerged as a new alternative. A vertiport is a physical space that conducts a similar role to an airport terminal. Vertiport consists of take-off and landing facilities (TLOF, Touchdown and Lift-Off area), space for boarding and disembarking from UAM aircraft (gates), taxiways, and passenger terminals. The type of vertiport (structure, number of facilities) and concept of operations are key variables that determine the number of UAM aircraft that can be accommodated per hour. In this study, a capacity calculation method was presented using an optimization technique (Deterministic Integer Linear Programming). The absolute capacity of the vertiport was calculated using an optimization technique, and a sensitivity analysis was also performed.
Although the number of blasting operations in urban area are growing, lesser attentions have been paid to the effects of impact load on nearby concrete structures. In this study, the properties of concrete were obtained by both the sonic velocity and Schmidt rebound tests, and the degree of damage in concrete material was evaluated by measuring the sonic velocity in sample before and after applying the impact load. The test results shows that the sonic velocity decreases with the increase of intensity of impact load, and the degree of damage in concrete samples is lower when the samples have higher strength and sonic velocity.
