가스 미립화용 노즐로부터 방출되는 초음속 분류에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Supersonic Jet Issuing from Gas Atomizing Nozzle (I))

  • Supersonic axisymmetric jets issuing from various kinds of nozzles with a throat diameter of a few millimeters were experimentally investigated. The exit Mach number and Reynolds number based on the throat diameter of nozzle were in the range of 1.0 ~ 5.9 and 8.4$\times$ $10^4$ ~ 2.9$\times$$10^6$, respectively. The nozzle pressure ratio was varied from 5 to 85. Present paper aims to offer fundamental information of the supersonic free-jets, with an emphasis to give data with which the shape of the free-jets can be depicted under a specified condition. Experimental data are summarized to enable an estimation of the shape of the supersonic free-jets. The result shows that the shape of free-jets is dependent on only the nozzle pressure ratio.

  • 본 연구에서는 비정상 노즐 구동 압력비 변화가 유동장의 천이형태 및 횡력 특성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 조사하기 위하여 수치해석적 연구를 수행하였다. 비정상, 축대칭, 압축성 N-S 방정식을 유한 체적법으로 이산화 하였으며, SST $k-{\omega}$ 난류모델을 적용하였다. 엔진 정지 및 시동과정을 모사하기 위하여, NPR은 2~10의 범위에서 계산 하였다. 본 연구의 결과로 박리 유동과 히스테리시스 현상은 구동 압력비에 크게 의존하며, 또한 압력비 변동 시간이 횡력 특성에 지대한 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 알았다.

  • The structural characteristics of small scale rice polisher was analyzed to improve its performance. Spraying characteristic of nozzles used for rice polishing was also analyzed by a machine vision system. The internal pressure of the polishing chamber was measured according to outlet resistance, water spraying , and roller shaft speed. In addition , the performance of the rice polisher was evaluated to improve it in the basis of internal pressure in polishing chamber, whiteness , and broken rice ratio of clean rice according to the operating conditions. Actual nozzle discharge rate and drop size were 125cc/min and 86.97㎛, respectively. In the case of water spraying on rices, the internal pressure showed 4.9-9.8N/㎠ increase, broken rice ration decreased , and there was no difference in whiteness . The internal pressure increased up to two time with the increase of the outlet resistance. Also, the pressure at the upper part of screen was one and half times as high as the pressure at the lower part. In the case of water spraying rate of 150 cc/min, the roller shaft speed of 850 rpm resulted in no difference in whiteness and decrease of 0.3%in broken rice ratio, comparing to the roller shaft speed of 950 rpm.

슬롯관형 초음속 배기노즐의 공력소음에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Aerodynamic Noise of a Supersonic Exhaust Nozzle of Slotted Tube)

  • The objective of this study is to experimentally investigate the noise propagating characteristics, the noise reduction mechanism and the performance of a slotted tube attached at the exit plane of a circular convergent nozzle. The experiment is performed through the systematic change of the jet pressure ratio and the slot length under the condition of two kinds of open area ratios, 25% and 51%. The open area ratio calculated by the tube length equivalent for the slot length is defined as the ratio of the total slot area to the surface area of a slotted tube. The experimental results for the near and far field sound, the visualization of jet structures and the static pressure distributions in the jet passing through a slotted tube are presented and explained in comparison with those for a simple tube. The propagating characteristics of supersonic jet noises from the slotted tube is closely connected with the slot length rather than the open area ratio, and its propagating pattern is similar to the simple tube. It is shown that the slotted tube has a good performance to suppress the shock-associated noise as well as the turbulent mixing noise in the range of a limited jet pressure and slot dimension. The considerable suppression of the shock‘associated noise is mainly due to the pressure relief caused by the high-speed jets passing through the slots on the tube. Both the strength of shock waves and the interval between them in a jet plume are decreased by the pressure relief. Moreover, the pressure relief is divided into the gradual and the sudden relief depending upon the open area ratio of the slotted tube. Consequently, the shock waves in a jet plume are also changed by the type of pressure relief. The gradual pressure relief caused by the slotted tube with the open area ratio 25% generates the weak oblique shock waves. On the contrary, the weak normal shock waves appear due to the sudden pressure relief caused by the slotted tube with the open area ratio 51%.

다공관형 초음속 배기노즐의 공력소음에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Aerodynamic Noise of a Supersonic Exhaust Nozzle of Perforated Tube)

  • A perforated tube nozzle as an exhaust noise suppressor of a high-speed civil transport(HSCT) is proposed. The experimental results for the near and far field sound. the visualization of jet structures and the static pressure distributions in the jet passing through a perforated tube are presented and discussed in comparison with those for a simple tube. It is shown that the perforated tube has an excellent performance to greatly reduce the shock-associated noise and that also the turbulent mixing noise is reduced in the range of a limited jet pressure ratio. This considerable noise reduction is due to the pressure relief caused by the through-flow through the perforated holes. Such a pressure relief results in the transformation of normal shock waves into weak Mach waves of X -type and increases the thrust force of the perforated tube nozzle.

하이브리드탄의 항력 및 유동해석 (A Drag and Flow Characteristics around the Hybrid Projectile)

  • Three dimensional, compressible, mass weighted averaging of Favre, Navier-Stokes system with k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence, is numerically discretized to compute three dimensional multiple jet interaction flow fields for a hybrid projectile containing three rocket motors in the ogive section. Numerical flow field computations have been made for angled nose jets and rockets at supersonic speed using multiblock structured grid. The jet conditions include very high jet to free stream pressure ratio and high temperature. It is shown that the strength of nozzle stagnation pressure affects the flow field near the side nozzle and the high stagnation pressure increases total amount of drag by a few percent. However, minor drag loss due to the pressure drag might be fully overcomed by an additional axial thrust. The results of present study can be applied for the design of future hybrid projectile.

  • 75톤급 개방형 액체로켓용 터보펌프 터빈의 성능시험을 수행하였다. 넓은 압력비와 회전수 영역에서 터빈의 출력을 측정하였으며 이를 통해 터빈로터 전후의 유동특성을 파악하였다. 아울러, 터빈의 효율 변화 및 측정된 로터입구의 압력을 기 개발된 30톤급 터빈과 비교하였으며 이를 바탕으로 설계 의도에 부합되는 향상된 성능의 동익을 재설계하였다.

An Analytical Study on the Gas-Solid Two Phase Flows

  • This paper addresses an analytical study on the gas-solid two phase flows in a nozzle. The primary purpose is to get recognition into the gas-solid suspension flows and to investigate the particle motion and its influence on the gas flow field. The present study is the primal step to comprehend the gas-solid suspension flow in the convergent-divergent nozzle. This paper try to made a development of an analytical model to study the back pressure ratio, particles loading and the particle diameter effect on gas-solid suspension flow. Mathematical model of gas-solid two phase flow was developed based on the single phase flow models to solve the quasi-one-dimensional mass, momentum equations to calculate the steady pressure field. The influence of particles loading and particle diameter is analyzed. The results obtained show that the suspension flow of smaller diameter particles has almost same trend as that of single phase flow using ideal gas as working fluid. And the presence of particles will weaken the strength of the shock wave; the bigger particle will have larger slip velocity with gas flow. The thrust coefficient is found to be higher for larger particles/gas loading or back pressure ratio, but it also depends on the ambient pressure.

Flow Visualization of Flowfield Structures around an Aerospike Nozzle using LIF and PSP

  • Aerospike nozzles have been expected to be used for an engine of a reusable space shuttle to respond to growing demand for rocket-launching and its cost reduction. In this study, the flow field structures in any cross sections around clustered linear aerospike nozzles are visualized and analyzed, using laser induced fluorescence (LIF) of nitrogen monoxide seeded in the carrier gas of nitrogen. Since flow field structures are affected mainly by pressure ratio, the clustered linear aerospike nozzle is set inside a vacuum chamber to carry out the experiments in the wide range of pressure ratios from 75 to 200. Flow fields are visualized in several cross-sections, demonstrating the complicated three-dimensional flow field structures. Pressure sensitive paint (PSP) of PtTFPP bound by poly- IBM -co-TFEM is also applied to measurement of the complicated pressure distribution on the spike surface, and to verification of contribution of a truncation plane to the thrust. Finally, to examine the effect of the sidewalls attached to the aerospike nozzle, the flow fields around the nozzle with the sidewalls are compared with those without sidewalls.

과대팽창이 발생하는 초음속노즐의 충격파 구조와 추력성능에 대한 수치적 연구 (A Computational Study on the Shock Structure and Thrust Performance of a Supersonic Nozzle with Overexpanded Flow)

  • 과대팽창이 발생하는 축대칭 초음속 노즐에서 노즐압력비가 충격파 구조와 추력성능에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위해 지상연소시험평가용 추력기 노즐을 대상으로 수치모사를 수행하였다. k-${\omega}$ SST 난류 모델을 적용한 Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes 방정식을 상용코드 FLUENT를 사용하여 해석한 결과, 노즐 압력비가 증가함에 따라 추력성능이 단조적으로 증대되고, 노즐 내부에서 생성된 충격파와 유동박리점이 노즐 출구방향으로 밀려나는 사실을 확인하였다. 또, 노즐내부 충격파와 팽창파 위치의 직접적 영향을 받는 노즐 출구면에서의 유동구조가 추력성능에 미치는 영향도 상세히 조사하였다.
