  • For the purpose of enhancing the performance of the shunt active power filter (APF), this paper presents a novel Fast Weighted Compound Control (FWCC) strategy based on the synchronous frame. In this control strategy, the proposed new repetitive controller can work faster and more stably by reducing the internal model cycle and introducing a damping coefficient. In addition, the harmonic detector can be removed to simplify the structure of the APF owing to the improvements. Furthermore, a proportional-integral (PI) controller is added to work in parallel with the repetitive controller by using a weighted ratio. Then, a convergence speed analysis and design algorithm are given in detail. Simulation and experimental results show that the harmonic distortion is reduced from 2.91% to 1.89%. In addition, the content for each of the characteristic harmonic orders has decreased by more than three times.

  • Sarcotragins C(1) and D(2), two novel compounds, have been isolated from the sponge Sarcotragus sp. collected from Jaeju Island, Korea. The structures of these compounds have been determined to be linear sesterterpene alkaloids on the basis of combined 1D and 2D NMR experiments. The stereochemistry involved was established by comparison of the NMR data with those reported for a similar compound.

  • Recentadvancesin '-omics ' technologies enable us to discover more diverse disease- relevant target proteins, which encourages us to find out more target-specific novel lead compounds as new drug candidates. Therefore, high-throughput screening (HTS) becomes an essential tool in this area. Among many HTS tools, in silico HTS is a very fast and cost-effective tool to try to derive a new lead compound for any new targets, especially when the target protein structures are known or readily modeled. • Cyanopyridone was prepared by the condensation of cyanoacetamide, substituted arylaldehydes and malononitrile in presence of pipyridine. The structure of the synthesized compound CP 1-20 was assigned on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, $^1H$-NMR and mass spectroscopy. These compounds were also screened for antimicrobial activity. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of all the synthesized compounds was compared with standard drugs.

  • In order to discover new useful NSAIDs, novel N-substituted 1,2-benzisothiazoline-3-one 1,1- dioxide derivatives, which can exhibit potentially antiinflammatory activity were synthesized. 1,2-Benz-isothiazoline-3-one-N-acetic acids 6a, b were obtained from monochloroacetic acid and sodium 1,2-benz-isothiazoline-3-ones in DMF by N-alkylation reaction. N-Substituted 1,2-benzisothiazoline-3-one 1,1-dioxide derivatives 7a-e were synthesized through the coupling of compound 6a, b and several amines (aniline, 2- aminopyridine , 2-aminothiazole, 2-aminotetrazole) with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide in methyl e no chloride.

  • A chemical investigation of the fruits of Piper retrofractum (Piperaceae) has led to the isolation and characterization of a novel piperidine alkaloid, piperoctadecalidine together with three known alkaloids piperine, pipernonaline and guineensine. The structure of the new compound was detemined to be (2E,4E,14Z)-N-(2,4,14-Octadecatrienoyl) piperidine by spectral and synthetic methods.

  • Muricellaxanthin, a novel carotenoid pigment has been isolated by activity-guided separation from an undescribed gorgonian of the genus Muricella collected from Jaeju Island. Structure of this compound has been determined by a combination of spectral methods. Stereochemistry has been defined by interpretation of nOe data and comparison of CD data with related compounds. Muricellaxanthin exhibited potent lethality against brine-shrimp larvae.

  • 11-Deoxydaunomycinone 15 and 10-fluoroanthracyclinone derivatives 9, 10 were obtained. Naphthalenone 4 prepared from 2-(2,4-pentadienyl)-1,3-dioxane 2 with methyl vinyl ketone and hydrolysis with HClO4 was condensed with phthalidesulfone 5 through Michael type reaction, and was converted to 7 by epoxidation. Epoxide 7 was transformed to trione 12 using reduction-oxidation or hydrofluorination process, and then to 15 by introducing several functional groups. Compound 8 obtained in the course of the reaction of epoxide 7 and HF/ Pyr was used for the synthesis of compounds 9, 10.

  • RNA plays an important role in numerous biological processes but little is known about the interactions between small organic molecules and RNA. Our previous work has shown that the heterodimeric compound designed by conjugation with neomycin and loop-specific chemical bind to the stem-loop structured RNA motifs. In the present study, heterodimer was used, in a reverse way, as a probe to identify structured RNA motifs. (omitted)
