  • This paper presents development of a three-dimensional marine controlled-source electromagnetic (mCSEM) modeling algorithm and its application to a salt and reservoir model to examine detectability of mCSEM for a reservoir under complex subsurface structures. The algorithm is based on the finite difference method, and employs the secondary field formulation for an accurate and fast calculation of modeling responses. The algorithm is verified for a two-layer model by comparing solutions not only with analytic solutions but also with those from other 3D modeling algorithm. We calculate and analyze electric and magnetic fields and their normalized responses for a salt and reservoir model due to three sources located at boundaries between a salt, a reservoir, and background. Numbers and positions of resistive anomalies are informed by normalized responses for three sources, and types of resistive anomalies can be informed when there is a priori information about a salt by seismic exploration.

  • This work presents a method to predict the near magnetic field distribution on the digital switching circuit mounted on PCB using co-simulation of circuit and electromagnetic fields. The proposed method first obtains the normalized near field distribution by exciting the signal and power ports of the switching circuit using sinusoidal sources. Then the real near magnetic field distribution is determined by weighting the normalized field distribution using the current spectrum of the switching circuit. To confirm the proposed method, a switching IC with a ring oscillator and a output buffer is fabricated and measured in the form of chip-on-board. The surface magnetic field distribution is measured using a magnetic probe above the PCB and compared with the simulation results. Experimental results show the correspondence between simulation and measurement results within 10 dB up to fifth harmonics.

  • We have studied vortex dynamics in$ Bi_2$$Sr_2$$CaCu_2$O$_{8}$single crystals of unirradiated and irradiated samples by using 100 $\times$ $100\mu\textrm{m}^2$Hall sensor. Doses equivalent magnetic fields are 20 G, 100 G and 1 kG. In the magnetization measurement, a second magnetization peak (SMP) was observed in unirradiated, 20 G dose and 100 G dose samples in contrast to 1 kG dose sample. In the unirradiated sample, the SMP was observed in the range of 18 K ~ 35 K and the amplitude of the SMP decreased with increasing temperature. With increase of the irradiation dose, temperature region and sharpness of the SMP were reduced. In the magnetic relaxation measurement, we observed that the normalized relaxation rate S decreased with increasing the irradiation dose. Our results suggest that the vortex dynamics is not greatly affected by low-density columnar defects.s.

  • In this paper, TM(transverse magnetic) scattering problems by a conductive strip grating between a double dielectric layer are analyzed by applying the PMM(point matching method) known as a numerical method of electromagnetic fileld. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients, the scattered electromagnetic fields are expanded in a series of Floquet mode functions, and the conductive boundary condition is applied to analysis of the conductive strip. The most normalized reflected powers of the sharp variations in minimum values are scattered in direction of the other angles except incident angle. Generally, in the case of numerical analysis except for reflection and transmission power in free space, as the dielectric constants of the double dielectric layer increases, the reflected power increases and the transmitted power decreases relatively, respectively. The numerical results for the presented structure of this paper having a grounded double dielectric layer are shown in good agreement compared to those of the existing papers.
