As global warming proceeds, South Eastern Asia is undergoing drought, and the harshness of drought in the middle area of Korea is increasing. Especially, there has been the worst spring drought in 2001 since the first meteorological observation, and the damages caused by that drought are being ana lysed in various ways. In this study, spectral indices derived from satellites are used to examine 2001 spring drought, and the application of MODIS Data products as the quantitative tool to analyse drought in the future is examined.

This paper describes a study on a person identification system which can improve currently available biometric systems. In the procedure of PIN(Personal Identification Number) input, holding time, interkey time between key presses are measured and normalized. Person identification is performed by matching using Euclidean distance of these punching dynamics. The experimental results show the possibility of improvement of the overall system performance when keypad dynamics feature is applied to the biometric systems which take PIN input using keypads.

At-cut quarts crystal has been applied as chemical vapour sensors. The responses of quartz crystal at 9 MHz coated with various lipids were determined for organic gases which showed different affinities for each lipid. The identification of odorants depending on the species of lipid used for coating is discussed in terms of the normalized resonant frequency shift pattern.

Clustering methods essentially take a two-step approach; extracting feature vectors for dimensionality reduction and then employing clustering algorithm on the extracted feature vectors. However, for clustering images, the traditional clustering methods such as stacked auto-encoder based k-means are not effective since they tend to ignore the local information. In this paper, we propose a method first to effectively reduce data dimensionality using convolutional auto-encoder to capture and reflect the local information and then to accurately cluster similar data samples by using a hierarchical clustering approach. The experimental results confirm that the clustering results are improved by using the proposed model in terms of clustering accuracy and normalized mutual information.

Cholinergic urticaria with acquired generalized hypohidrosis, and its pathophysiology is not well known. Autoimmunity to sweat glands or to acetylcholine receptors on sweat glands has been mentioned as one of the possible etiologies. Systemic steroid therapy, antihistamines, anticholinergics, and avoidance of the stimulatory situations are recommended for treatment. We experienced a case of cholinergic urticaria with acquired generalized hypohidrosis in a patient who had no other associated disease, and the symptoms eased after repeated bilateral stellate ganglion block. Stellate ganglion block normalized the elevated sympathetic tone and may relieve symptoms in patients with this condition.

본 논문에서는 인접블록간의 움직임 유사도를 이용하여 불필요한 후보블록을 보다 빠르게 제거하는 PDE기반의 고속 블록매칭 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 기존의 방법보다 불필요한 계수를 효율적으로 제거하기 위하여 인접 블록간의 영상의 유사성에 기초하여 인접한 네개의 매크로블록 가운데 최대 복잡도를 가지는 서브블록의 누적된 비율(cumulative distribution function-CDF)을 사용하고 서브블록별 복잡도가 집중되지 않도록 하기위하여 normalized 기반 매칭스캔 방법을 사용하여 효율적으로 계산량을 줄였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 화질의 저하 없이 기존의 PDE 알고리즘에 비해 60% 이상의 계산량을 줄였으며, MPEG-2 및 MPEG-4 AVC를 이용하는 비디오 압축 응용분야에 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

Cerebral embolic infarction is the most common neurologic complication of cardiac myxoma (CM). Development of cerebral aneurysms in CM is very rare. We present a 64-year-old woman with acute cerebral infarction and multiple cerebral aneurysms complicated by CM. The aneurysms were multiple, fusiform-shaped, and located in distal branch of major cerebral arteries. The serum interleukin (IL)-6 was highly elevated, which was normalized after surgical resection of CM. There was no regression of aneurysms on follow-up neuroimaging. Multiple cerebral aneurysms in CM are rare condition. Highly elevated serum IL-6 may be associated with increased risk of cerebral aneurysmal formation.

Growing numbers of studies employ cell line-based systematic short interfering RNA (siRNA) screens to study gene functions and to identify drug targets. As multiple sources of variations that are unique to siRNA screens exist, there is a growing demand for a computational tool that generates normalized values and standardized scores. However, only a few tools have been available so far with limited usability. Here, we present siMacro, a fast and easy-to-use Microsoft Office Excel-based tool with a graphic user interface, designed to process single-condition or two-condition synthetic screen datasets. siMacro normalizes position and batch effects, censors outlier samples, and calculates Z-scores and robust Z-scores, with a spreadsheet output of >120,000 samples in under 1 minute.

In this paper we present an estimation method of electric energy[kWh] for load management of pole-transformer. For the electric energy estimation, we use the nonlinear load research based estimation(NLRE) algorithm. The NLRE curve is the normalized annual cumulative energy consumption for a particular day in a year. And, it is used for the coefficient estimation. Estimation method of suggested electric energy of pole-transformer used billing cycle electric energy estimation equation is verified as comparison billing cycle electric energy and estimated electric energy. We can reduce the error of peak load estimation by suggested method than the conventional method in domestic.

In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for the musical note recognition. Firstly, a given bit-mapped music score image is converted to a set of individual note pattern images via vertical projection. Then, the pitch of a note is determinal by comparison in the note-head position with the reference five-lines. Also, the length of a note is found via leader clustering with a set of normalized note patterns. Finally, a datafile to play the music is obtained using the pitch and length of musical notes. Experimental results with a simple musical score image show that the proposed scheme is performed well.
