  • This Study is to find out how RC beam mixed with sawdust acts comparing with normal beam without sawdust mixture, and how they can be applied to the actual structural frame, despite a Int that they are mixed with waste material : saying sawdust. ED3H1, ED3H2, ED5H1, ED5H2, ED3H1UB, ED5H1UB, ED3H2L, ED5H2L and Normal without sawdust mixture are main factor to be tested here in order to apply them to the actual case. D and H means diameter 3cm or 5cm, and holes one and two respectively. And all variables are tested with each two for one variables. Test results are compared using crack diagrams and strain & loads. There are eleven(11)% capacity decrease between ED 3H1 and ED5H1 in rebar, strain. Left and right side crack shapes are much similar in variable ED3H2L having maximum capacity 14.5 tone. ED5H2L having maximum capacity thirteen(13)tone, in case of normal 19.6 tone. Two holes in beam rather on the longitudinal direction than on the forcing direction can be more effective to keep the original capacity of the beam because this case can distribute load more uniformly. There is 33% capacity decreased in case of diameter five(5)cm, compared to diameter three(3)cm. Two holes give thirty nine(39) percent capacity decrease than one of diameter three(3)cm.

  • Various single probability distributions have been used to represent time headway distributions. However, it has often been difficult to explain the time headway distribution as a single probability distribution on site. This study used the EM algorithm, which is one of the maximum likelihood estimations, for the parameters of combined mixture distributions with a certain relationship between two normal distributions for the time headway of vehicles. The time headway distribution of vehicle arrival is difficult to represent well with previously known single probability distributions. But as a result of this analysis, it can be represented by estimating the parameters of the mixture probability distribution using the EM algorithm. The result of a goodness-of-fit test was statistically significant at a significance level of 1%, which proves the reliability of parameter estimation of the mixture probability distribution using the EM algorithm.

  • Objective : This study was conducted to investigate anti-obesity effects of mixed-Powder(Raphani Semen, Coicis Semen, Poria, Plantaginis Testa & Theae folium)(HP) & mixed water extract(Citri Pericarpium, Crataegi Fructus, Maydis Stigma, Allium Skin) (HE) in mice fed a high-fat diet. Method : 50 Female ICR mice were divided into six groups; Normal group (Ve), high-fat diet group (Po), Po+HP(0.6g/kg) group(HP), Po+HE(1g/kg) group(HE), Po+(HP+HE) group(HPE), Po+(HP+HE)*2 group(DHPE). For 8 weeks, these groups were fed their respective diets. Body weight, liver weight and weights of adipose tissues, GOT/GPT index changes & Blood Glucose index changes were measured respectively. Lipid profiles in serum were analyzed by kit of blood. Results : Groups HP, HE, HPE, DHPE had significantly reduced body weight, liver weight, adipose tissue weights and GOT/GPT index, blood glucose index compared to the Po group. Also, serum triglyceride and total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, were significantly reduced when compared to the Po group. Group G1 had significantly increased high density lipoprotein levels. Conclusion : Mixed powder (HP) & mixed water extract (HE) show anti-obesity effects in mice fed a high-fat diet.

  • A 152 day trial was conducted to see the effect of feeding naturally fermented wheat straw (FWS) with either energy, protein or energy protein supplements on the growth of buffalo calves. Twenty four male buffalo calves (10-12 months old) divided in 6 equal groups were individually offered FWS as sole roughage along with either conventional concentrate mixture (conc), maize grains (M), solvent extracted mustard cake (DMC), M-DMC mixture (50:50), deoiled rice bran (DRB) or uromol bran mixture (UBM) in 70:30 ratio. The digestibility of nutrients, nitrogen retention and nutritive value was maximum in FWS:UBM followed by FWS:DMC and FWS:Conc groups. Almost, all the blood parameters were observed well within the normal range except that of blood urea (FWS:UBM) and creatinine (FWS:DMC and FWS:DRB). The dietary combination in which FWS was supplemented with only conventional protein supplement like DMC proved to be highly efficient as far as live weight gain was concerned. FWS supplemented with energy-protein combination i.e. MDMC could also be used as complete feed for growing calves in comparison to conventional feeding system.

  • Using proteases, we produced a peptide mixture from fibroin of the silkworm $Bombyx$ $mori$. Mice received D-galactose by subcutaneous injection for 8 weeks to accelerate aging, and then received the peptide mixture orally for 7 weeks. In the mice aged with D-galactose, the coefficient of friction of hair increased significantly up to 1.6-fold, but in the mice subsequently given the peptide mixture, it was normal. Scanning electron microscopy showed improved hair cuticles in the latter mice too. These results indicate that oral administration with peptides from $Bombyx$ fibroin counters the aging of hair cuticles.

  • Heat of hydration of concrete under different curing temperatures can be characterized with knowledge of the thermal activity, the heat rate at the reference temperature, and the total heat of hydration of the mixture. The so-called multi-component hydration model incorporates the effect of following variables: cement chemical composition, cement fineness, secondary cementitious powders, mixture proportions, and concrete properties. However, the model does not consider the use of silica fume as a secondary cementitious powder. Therefore, the model that quantifies the heat of hydration due to the use of silica fume is needed. In this thesis, the effects of silica fume on heat of hydration are evaluated and the influence on the heat of hydration are also quantified to be included in the model, so that the analysis using modified multi-component hydration model for silica fume concrete provides more accurate results than normal concrete.

  • MRSM(modified response surface methodology)-2 model is presented for the prediction of boiling points in combustible solution of quaternary systems. This model requires only normal boiling points of pure substances and group-group parameters which are based on the group-group concepts without the use of experimental data under consideration. By means of this methodology, it is possible to predict the boiling points of the combustible mixture of quaternary systems by plotting of isothermal lines using computer graphics. The proposed methodology has been tested and compared successfully with reported boiling points in journals for the combustible solution of quaternary systems. It is hoped eventually that this methodology will permit prediction of the flash point and flammability limit for the combustible mixture of multicomponent systems.

  • In order to find the identification function from data and to apply the identification function for the pattern classification, we consider the existing problem of the number of patterns in such data. In this paper, a new criteria for the identification of Gaussaian mixture distribution could be established as a charateristic of the sample variance, which is a bootstrap estimate of the sample variance. We examine the properties and fittness of the criteria through a large scale of computer simulations.

  • In this paper, The performance of Kim-Chi refrigerator with three evaporator and one compressor was investigated in employing 55% propane and 45% isobutane (R290/R600a) refrigerant mixture as an alternative refrigerant of R134a. The drop in test was performed by varying both refrigerant charge amount and capillary tube length in order to find both the performance and reliability of a small multi-refrigeration system. As a result, Both the power consumption and COP is increased by about 15% and 10%, respectively as compared to the baseline R134a system. In addition, the propane/isobutene refrigerant mixture system took advantage of the minimization of modification and redesigning of system components because of similar thermodynamic properties with R134a such as saturation pressure, temperature, normal boiling point(NBP) characteristics

  • Objective : This study was designed to investigate the effects of non fermented Zizyphus. jujuba mixture (mixed fruit and leaf : ZM) and fermented Z. jujuba mixture(FZM) on fed high-fat diet induced hyperlipidemic rats for development medicinal food. Method : The extracts prepared for Zizyphus. jujuba mixture(ZM) and fermented Z. jujuba mixture(FZM) with Lactobacillus plantarum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Experimental group was divided into normal control group(NC group) and high fat diet groups. The high fat diet groups fed high fat diet 2 weeks after was sub-divided into high fat diet control group(HC group), high fat diet positive control group(HPC group), non fermented Z. jujuba mixture extract group(ZM group) and fermented Z. jujuba mixture extract group(FZM group). NC and HC group was orally administerd of 0.9% saline, HPC group administerd lovastatin diluted in 0.9% saline at a dose of 10 mg/kg BW, ZM and FZM groups was administerd each extracts diluted in 0.9% saline at a dose of 300 mg/kg BW once a day on a fixed time for 4 weeks. In the present study we measured organ weight, epididymal fat tissue weight, concentration of serum lipids, hepatic lipids, MDA contents in liver tissue and metabolic variables in serum. Results : ZM and FZM suppressed testis weight loss and FZM decreased epididymal fat tissue weight to level of NC group in high-fat diets. ZM and FZM did not influence on serum cholesterol level, but prominently decreased serum triglyceride concentration compared with HC group, and FZM diminished hepatic triglyceride same as serum. ZM and FZM did not impair liver and kidney function and influence positive effects through by suppression of elevation lipid level. Conclusion : These results suggested that Z. jujuba mixture(ZM, FZM) should be useful developing medicinal food for prevention and improvement of hyperlipidemia and FZM is more suitable agent than ZM.
