  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic information for developing family-focused nursing interventions for families with chronic illness. The subjects were 68 families of chronically ill patients in hospitalization and 68 families, as a comparison group, who didn't have chronically ill family members. The results of this study were as follows. 1. families with chronic illness showed higher anxiety scores (t=2.28, P=.024) and lower family functioning scores than normal families(the performance of family functioning : t=2.83, P=.005, the satisfaction of family functioning : t=5.76, P=.000) 2. In family caregiver systems, spouses of chronically ill patients showed higher anxiety scores (t=2.72, P=.008) and lower family functioning scores than those of normal families(the performance of family functioning : t=2.28, P=.026, the satisfaction of family functioning : t=4.41, P=.000) : however, the anxiety scores between children of chronically ill patients and those of normal families were no statistically significant differences. with regard to satisfaction of family functioning, children of chronically ill patients showed lower scores than those of normal family(t=3.85, P=.000). 3. In families with chronic illness, there were significantly positive correlations between the perceived importance of family functioning and anxiety(r=.415, P=.001) and between the performance and satisfaction of family functioning(r=.727, P=.001) ; however, there was a negative correlation between satisfaction of family functioning and anxiety(r=-.334, P=.01). In normal families, there was no significant correlation between family functioning and anxiety. Findings of this study suggest that families with chronic illness need family-focused nursing interventions for relieving their anxiety and for improving family functioning. in conclusion, the investigation of family functioning and anxiety provides useful information in family-focused nursing care, especially for spouses of chronically ill patients. This information will contribute to developing the support systems for family caregivers and education programs for managing chronically ill patients.

  • This study was designed to assess the level of family function between cancer patient's families and normal families, and to seek better quality family-Mcentered nursing care. The subjects for this study were 95 ca patient's families who were selected from th university hospitals and 95 normal families who selected from 1 university hospital. The instrument used for this study was McMaster Family Assessment Device (FAD) developed by Epstein, Baldwin and Bishop (1983). The scale consisted of 53 items covering 7 areas: 'problem solving', 'communication', 'roles', 'affective responsiveness', 'affective involvement', 'behavior control', and 'general functioning'. As for data analyses, descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2-test$, t-test, ANOVA were adopted using SAS program. The result of this study was as follows: There there was no significant difference between cancer patient's family function and normal family function. Also there was no significant difference on cancer patient's family function with regard to family characteristics, disease's characteristics, and clinical stage of cancer.

  • We study the normality of families of meromorphic functions sharing a set consisting of two or three distinct finite values to improve and extend Theorem 1 in Liu-Pang [15] and Theorem 1.1 in Liu-Chang [16]. Examples are provided to show that the results in this paper, in a sense, are the best possible.

  • We consider the empirical Bayes estimation problems with the binomial and normal components when the prior distributions are unknown but are assumed to be in certain families. There may be the families of all distributions on the parameter space or subfamilies such as the parametric families of conjugate priors. We treat both cases and establish the asymptotic optimality for the corresponding decision procedures.

  • The concrete purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of applying S.Minuchin's structural family therapy theory to each clinical families so that it can solve efficiently the clinical problems Korean family. The test results are as follows: 1)The Results of Question I : Types of Korean family problems can be divide into six. Then the most frequent type of problem was marital problem. 2) The Results of Question II: Korean normal family showed rater difussed boundary and higher rate of wife dominant type than that of husband dominant type in aspect of boundary and power, and had low tendency toward alignment and neutral adjustment. 3)The Results of Quesion III; Amidst the clinical families, family structural traits of the families which have marital problems showed a clear boundary, the tendency toward alignment, and higher tate of husband dominant type than that of wife dominant type. And family structural traits of children problem family had the tendency of alignment and showed little wife-dominanted families in power. Finally, mother-in -law and daughter-in-law problemed family had several characters such as diffused boundary, the tendency of alignment and high adjustment. 4)The Results of Question IV : As a result of camparing problemed families with normal families in family structure, there was high adaptability of S.Minuchin's structural theory to the two family groups; the groups of marital problems and those of children problem.

  • In this paper, we study a problem of a non-constant entire function f that shares a set S = {a, b, c} with its k-th derivative f(k), where a, b and c are any three distinct complex numbers. We have found a gap in the statement of the main result of Chang-Fang-Zalcman [10], and with the help of their method, we have generalize their result in a more compact form. As an application, we generalize the famous Brück conjecture [9] with the idea of set sharing.

  • In this paper we obtain some fixed points theorems of expansive mappings and several necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of common fixed points of families of self-mappings in metric spaces. Our results generalize and improve the main results of Fisher [1]-[5], Furi-Vignoli [6], $Is\'{e}ki$ [7], Jungck [8], [9], Kashara-Rhoades [10], Liu [13], [14] and Sharma and Strivastava [16].

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of householder's job status m the family life style. Data was collected from 475 parents in Chonbuk province by using a self administered questionnaire from June 10 to 30, 1998. Frequencies, percentages, and averages were calculated T-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis were followed. The results were as follows; 1. The families who suffered householders' job loss were 1/4 of the respondents and over 4/5 of the families felt economic stresses. 1/3 of the respondents had debts and 1/5 had not any savings. Most of the families were in good or normal marriage relationships, experienced economic crises, and had sparing habit. 2. In out-of-job families, couple cohension, couple satisfaction, and total marriage relationships were lower than in-job families. Also, out-of-job families spared more in buying and using clothes and foods, total clothes living and total food living. 3. In out-of-job families, the economic pressures on marriage relationships, clothes living, and food living were stronger than in-job families. 4. Family resources such as savings, ordinary marriage relationships, and sparing habit effected on the marriage relationships, clothes living, and food living in out-of-job families and in-job families.
