Application of adaptive controller using receding-horizon predictive control strategy to the electric furnace (이동구간 예측제어 기법을 이용한 적응 제어기의 전기로 적용)

  • Model Based Predictive Control(MBPC) has been widely used in predictive control since 80's. GPC[1] which is the superset of many MBPC strategies a popular method, but GPC has some weakness, such as insufficient stability analysis, non-applicability to internally unstable systems. However, CRHPC[2] proposed in 1991 overcomes the above limitations. So we chose RHPC based on CRHPC for electric furnace control. An electric furnace which has nonlinear properties and large time delay is difficult to control by linear controller because it needs nearly perfect modelling and optimal gain in case of PID. As a result, those controls are very time-consuming. In this paper, we applied RHPC with equality constraint to electric furnace. The reults of experiments also include the case of RHPC with monotonic weighting improving the transient response and including unmodelled dynamics. So, This paper proved the practical aspect of RHPC for real processes.

  • Recently, due to the expansion of electric power demands, nonlinear load such as converters and inverters connected to the electric power distribution system, and extensive application of harmonic generation sources with power electric devices, disturbance of the electric power system and its influences on industries have been continuously increasing. In this research, we develop a novel aggregation algorithm by considering the harmonics characteristics for residential loads. Using data sets acquired from various experiments, we analyzed load characteristics according to harmonics and presented the results obtained the proposed method.

  • Switched Reluctance Motors(SRMs) have a considerable inherent torque ripple due to the driving characteristics of pulse current waveform and the nonlinear variation inductance profile. This paper describes a current shape characteristics to effect a torque ripple reduction, and one pulse mode switching control method is proposed to minimize torque ripple of a switched reluctance motor regardless of speed and load condition by regulating tow parameters, such as, advance angle and exciting voltage. The experiments are performed to verify the capability of proposed switching method on 6/4 salient type SRM.

  • By using nonlinear loads in power line, reactive power and harmonics are occured. In this thesis, on the basis of the instantaneous reactive power theory, the calculation method of compensation current commands and the current control characteristics of active power filter using voltage source PWM converter are presented. The calculation of compensation current is performed by DSP within 50 usec. And the Pl control of current is performed by analog devices. The compensations of harmonic current in rectifier loads and unbalance currents are proved by experiments.

  • Analytical and experimental studies have been performed to investigate the strength of the membrane and the reaction force at the anchor point. Using nonlinear FEM code and experiments, the stress analysis of the corrugated membrane related the cryogenic liquid pressure and thermal loading is performed to ensure the stability and fatigue strength of the membrane. This paper reports on the FEM results of membrane.

  • This paper considers the nonidentical parallel machine scheduling problem in which n jobs having different due dates are to be scheduled on m nonidentical parallel machines. For the make-to-order manufacturing environment, the objective is to minimize the number of tardy jobs. A 0-1 nonlinear programming model is formulated and a heuristic algorithm that allocates and sequences jobs to machines is developed. The proposed algorithm makes use of the concept of assignment problem based on the suitability measure as the cost coefficient. Computational experiments show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the existing one in some performance measures such as number of tardy jobs. In addition, this algorithm is appropriate for solving real industrial problems efficiently.

  • A magnetically suspended robot joint is developed, which is free of dust and oil generation. Two radial bearings consisting of cone-shaped magnet cores control the rotor motion in the axial and radial directions. A linearized dynamic model is developed for active control of the magnetic bearing system. The control algorithm is constructed such that the axial displacement of the joint is controlled by radial control current to the pairs of facing radial bearings. The stability and control performance is tested through numerical simulation based on the nonlinear model. Experiments are also performed to verify the theoretical development.

  • Statistical differences between men and women are investigated for a total of eleven joint motions during level walking. Human locomotion which exhibits nonlinear dynamical behaviors is quantified by the chaos analysis. Time series of joint motions was obtained from gait experiments with ten young males and ten young females. Body motions were captured using eight video cameras, and the corresponding angular displacements of the neck and the upper body and lower extremity were computed by motion analysis software. The maximal Lyapunov exponents for eleven joints were calculated from attractors constructed and then were analyzed statistically by one-way ANOVA test to find any difference between the genders. This study shows that sexual differences in joint motions were statistically significant at the shoulder, knee and hip joints.

  • The sandwich type piezoelectric resonator is widely used for the acoustic sources of underwater acoustic transducers, whose important design parameters are shapes, materials, dimensions and supporting methods. Practical design method of resonators consists of manufacturing, experiments and modification so that it requires much time and expenses. In this study, an analytical design method of sandwich type piezoelectric resonators is presented based on the nonlinear optimization technique. The proposed method is applied to the design of an example resonator model in order to maximize the output powers. For the investigation of performance according to the division and their electrical connection, three types of resonators are manufactured. In addition, their dynamic characteristics such as electrical admittance and transmitting voltage response are measured and compared.

  • In this research, the relationship between physical measurements and subjective evaluations of floor impact noise in apartment building was quantified by applying the neural network analysis due to its complex and nonlinear characteristics. The neural network analysis was undertaken by setting up L-value, inverse A index, Zwicker parameters and ACF/IACF factors, as input data, which came from the measurements at real suites of apartment building having various sound insulations. The subjective responses from the psychoacoustic experiments were extracted as output data. Then, the reliability of the quantitative prediction for the subjective loudness was evaluated.
