  • Shizhuyuan W-Mo-Bi-Ca $F_2$polymetallic ore is classified to the refractory one due to its complex property, fine dissemination and close association of minerals. Through several years of researches, in line with GY new mineral processing technology developed by Guangzhou Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals, in sulfide flotation circuit, an iso-flotability flowsheet is used to replace original overall bulk flotation flowsheet, and in tungsten flotation circuit, a new chelating type-GY reagent and a special pulp-conditioning system and a new technology of wolframite slime flotation are used to replace the traditional "Caustic Soda Method"$_{[1]}$, the metallurgical performance is greatly improved. Besides, GY New Method has created a favorable condition for comprehensive recovery of fluoride from tungsten flotation tailings. Notable economic benefit has been achieved.d.

  • In order to improve resource value, separation of nonferrous metals obtained from crushed materials of home appliances is required. In this study, we aimed to develop a continuous separation system by magneto-Archimedes method using magnetic fluid as a medium and the permanent magnet as a magnetic field source. Firstly, the separation conditions were examined in which only copper is settled and the difference in levitation positions between aluminum and other metals are over 1 cm. Based on the results, levitation experiment of each metal and separation experiment from the mixture of nonferrous metals were confirmed. The separation experiment showed that the continuous separation of copper and aluminum from a mixture of nonferrous metals is possible.

  • In order to review the recycling status of urban mine resources in China, recycling of ELV(End of Life Vehicles), E-waste(WEEE) and nonferrous metals were surveyed. Number of the sales volume of the new vehicles were over more than ten million and number of discharge vehicles are increasing now. However, recycling system has not been managed smoothly in China. Though usage of home appliances in urban is similar with advanced countries, there are significant differences in rural community. In the other hand, China is the country with the largest E-waste import in the world. Production and consumption of the nonferrous metals are increasing year by year in China, but recycling of metals is not enough.

  • This study aims to find the optimal cutting conditions, when are nonferrous metals(aluminum and silicon) are machined with diamond tool of diamond turning machine. Diamond turning machine has been widely used in manufacturing optical reflectors of nonferrous metals. Such as aluminium and copper are easy to be machined because of their proper ductility. But optical crystals being discussed here are characterized by their high brittleness which makes it difficult to obtain high quality optical surfaces on them. The purpose of this study is to find the optimum machining conditions for ductile cutting of silicon and aluminium.

  • The objective of this development project is to localize an automatic molten metal supplier that has been distributed by WESTOMAT, Germany, throughout the world. To achieve this purpose, an energy-saving pressurized dosing furnace and molten metal differential pressure control system that Is able to automatically supply a determined quantity of aluminum molten metal were developed. The localized equipment was installed in a site. Also, the results of the test operation of this equipment can be summarized as follows: It was able to improve the productivity because there were small decreases in supplying speeds and small losses in wastes compared to the existing mechanical molten metal supplier. Also, it was able to minimize the cost in maintenances due to the direct application of high temperature molten metals to molds. In addition, there were small energy losses due to the use of high thermal insulators compared to the existing reverberating furnace and able to prolong the life-time of furnaces and produce good quality nonferrous metals because it represented small carbon refractories and alumina in applied molten metals. Furthermore, it demonstrated no particular differences by objectively comparing it with the product by WESTOMAT.

  • The linear intercept (LI) method was used to quantitatively measure the intercepts of WC grains in nano-grained WC-10Co hardmetal. When the surveyed intercept numbers of WC grain exceeded 200, the statistic data for the mean grain size of WC were reproduced. The discriminative minimal grain size of used LI method was 12 nm; the maximum intercept of WC grain was 109 nm; the average intercept of WC grains was 45 nm and the corresponding 3D mean grain size of WC was 70 nm which is agreeable with the XRD outcome.

  • Kriging metamodel, as a flexible machine learning method for approximating deterministic analysis models of an engineering system, has been widely used for efficiently estimating slope reliability in recent years. However, the autocorrelation function (ACF), a key input to Kriging that affects the accuracy of reliability estimation, is usually selected based on empiricism. This paper proposes an adaption of the Kriging method, named as Genetic Algorithm optimized Whittle-Matérn Kriging (GAWMK), for addressing this issue. The non-classical two-parameter Whittle-Matérn (WM) function, which can represent different ACFs in the Matérn family by controlling a smoothness parameter, is adopted in GAWMK to avoid subjectively selecting ACFs. The genetic algorithm is used to optimize the WM model to adaptively select the optimal autocorrelation structure of the GAWMK model. Monte Carlo simulation is then performed based on GAWMK for a subsequent slope reliability analysis. Applications to one explicit analytical example and two slope examples are presented to illustrate and validate the proposed method. It is found that reliability results estimated by the Kriging models using randomly chosen ACFs might be biased. The proposed method performs reasonably well in slope reliability estimation.
