  • Public construction companies have strictly followed a rule that they should not work in the wet area such as structural frame for a certain period during the winter season. It is usually known that the non-working period during the winter causes increase of the project duration, and the project cost escalation. Also, it makes negative effects on national economy because it reduces workers income. Therefore, the site work for the structural frame should be performed even during the whiter season. But the site work for the structural frame during that period cannot proceeds in the same way as during other periods, and requires a different method for estimating project duration. Through an analysis of time scheduling mechanism, actual working days are obtained for 1 cycle of typical floors in the structural frame during these periods, and non-working days of 5 years average are calculated based on calendar day using data of 5 years weather forecasts for that season. This study proposes an optimized way of estimating project duration for 1 cycle of typical floors in the structural frame during these periods. This estimating method uses the combined actual working days and non-working days of 5 years' average, and the estimated results are confirmed by being compared with field data. This study is expected to be used in estimating the construction duration of the structural frame during the winter season.

  • We should consider climatic factors influencing construction works in order to estimate construction time correctly. This study is to analyze climate elements affecting construction duration and to calculate non-working days far Inchoen territorial region. Through surveying literatures and examining several existing criteria we suggest a Proper criteria for each climate elements which would be used for estimating non-working days. The criteria is made on the raw climate data of Meteorological Administration during the last 30 years(1974-2003) far Incheon region. In case of rainfall, it is estimated as non-working days when daily precipitation is expected more than 10mm, its number of days for Incheon is 29 days. In case of low temperature, the number of non-working days for the concrete works(its criteria be below $4^{\circ}C$ average) and the finishing works(below $0^{\circ}C$ average) is 97 days, 52 days, respectively. In case of high temperature, it is three days when daily highest temperature is expected going over $32^{\circ}C$

  • In the present work, an approach for the multiple time probabilistic characterization of the response of linear structural systems subjected to random non-Gaussian processes is presented. Its fundamental property is working directly on the multiple time probability density functions of the actions and of the response. This avoids of passing through the evaluation of the response statistical moments at multiple time or correlations, reducing the computational effort in a consistent measure. This approach is the extension to the multiple time case of a previously published dynamic Probability Transformation Method (PTM) working on a single evolution of the response statistics. The application to some simple examples has revealed the efficiency of the method, both in terms of computational effort and in terms of accuracy.

  • It has been widely-reported that the quality of life in Korea is lower than that of the economic growth. In particular, construction managers are reported to have a lower quality of life compared to people in other job types due to the specific nature of the tasks they have to carry out. These include early work attendance time and fewer holidays. In this respect, the aim of this study is to analyse construction managers' requirements on work-life balance. The results showed that the working hours of construction managers were long and their leisure hours were shorter. The requirements for work-life balance were in the order of non-working time, working time, salary, and job security. The requirements by group showed a statistically significant difference in work hours. The requirements on the shortening of work hours were highest in the group of "section chiefs and deputy heads" and lowest in the group of "department heads" and up. It is hoped that the results of this study will be used as basic data for future government-level policy making and construction companies' business directions in relation to the improvement of workers' work-life balance.

  • It is usually perceived that there is conditional difference between the working students and the non-working students in distance learning. In this paper, we surveyed attendances in distance learning courses to verify the differences in faithfulness, studying time, completion of contents looking. The results are analysed and reported.

  • Since the marking robot draws lines by point-to-point operation, the robot's shifting path greatly affects the working time and productivity. Therefore, it is required to analyze the movement method based on the robot's motion and plan to minimize the movement time. Therefore, this study proposes a method that can optimize the robot's shifting path to minimize the working time of the marking robot. Through the results of this study, it is expected that the non-working time of the marking robot will be reduced and the efficient operation will be possible.

  • Calculating non-working days is very important element for the accurate estimation of construction time. And non-working days are largely affected by weather factors such as rainfall, wind velocity, snowfall and temperature. In the case of concrete works, there are lots of referable information for the calculation of non-working days due to the weather factors. However, for the structural steel works, there are very limited information only. Through literature survey and interviews with a few engineers, this paper established the weather factors that affect steel structural works and the impact of those factors. Based on the factors and the expected impact of the factors together with the weather data during the last 15 years in Seoul region gathered from Korea Meteorological Administration, this paper suggests the monthly non-working day of structural steel work due to weather factors. This information can be used for the early estimation of construction time.

  • In this study, Construction work is mainly done outdoors, so earth works, reinforced concrete works, etc. are Non-Working Days to rainfall. In particular, changes in rainfall due to global warming have made air calculation more difficult. Therefore, when establishing the process plan, the change of the rainfall in the area should be identified and Non-Working Days should be calculated. In this study, the time of rainfall change point was identified using the meteorological 'observation' data from 1960 to 2016 in Incheon and RCP 4.5, 'weather forecast' data from 2018 to 2074, Year rainfall and seasonal rainfall. The results showed that rainfall changed point in 1972, 1988, 2013, 2038, 2050 and 2069. In particular, it has been found that non-working days due to rainfall has big changed point as of 2013, 2038 and 2069.

  • The study is attempted to help double-income families use resources efficiently and rationally by analyzing The Time Use each of working women and housewives having preschool children based on the data of The Time Use survey carried out in 2004 and promote understandings on their quality of life, lifestyle and family welfare. To this end, the study analyzes the actual The Time Use of double-income families haying preschool children. The findings of the study are as follows: First, according to the comparison of The Time Use between double-income families and single-income families in 1999 and 2004, there is no significant difference in husbands' participation time in family management or family care between 1999 and 2004. Second, according to the comparison of The Time Use between double-income families and single-income families depending on the presence or non-presence of preschool children, families haying preschool children spent much more hours in family care than families without preschool children. Third, according to the comparison of the weekend schedule between double-income families and single-income families, it is found that working women work much more than housewives not only on weekdays but also on weekends and in particular, it is found that working women having preschool children work 2 hours longer than housewives.

  • This paper investigates the impact of working capital management on the firm's profitability. The research sample includes 119 non-financial listed companies on Vietnam stock market over a period of 9 years from 2010 to 2018. Two statistical approaches include Ordinary least squares (OLS) and fixed effects model (FEM) are employed to address econometric issues and to improve the accuracy of the regression coefficients. The empirical results show the negative and significant impacts of the working capital management, which measured by cash conversion cycle (CCC) and three components of the CCC including accounts receivable turnover in days (ARD), inventory turnover in days (INVD), and accounts payable turnover in days (APD) on the firm's profitability measured by return on assets (ROA) and Tobin's Q. It implies that firms can increase profitability by keeping the optimization of the working capital management measured by the CCC, which includes shortening the time to collect money from clients, accelerating inventory flow and hold the low payment time to creditors. Besides, the profitability of firms was impacted by the sale growth rate, firm size, leverage, and age. Therefore, this paper provides a new insight to managers on how to improve the firm's profitability with working capital management.
