  • The automatic $CO_2$ welding is a manufacturing process to produce high quality joints for metal and it could provide a capability of full automation to enhance productivity. Despite the widespread use in the various manufacturing industries, the full automation of the robotic $CO_2$ welding has not yet been achieved partly because the mathematical model for the process parameters of a given welding task is not fully understood and quantified. Several mathematical models to control welding quality, productivity, microstructure and weld properties in arc welding processes have been studied. However, it is not an easy task to apply them to the various practical situations because the relationship between the process parameters and the bead geometry is non-linear and also they are usually dependent on the specific experimental results. Practically, it is difficult, but important to know how to establish a mathematical model that can predict the result of the actual welding process and how to select the optimum welding condition under a certain constraint. In this research, an attempt has been made to develop an intelligent algorithm to predict the weld geometry (top-bead width, top-bead height, back-bead width and back-bead height) as a function of key process parameters in the robotic $CO_2$welding. A sensitivity analysis has been conducted and compared the relative impact of three process parameters on bead geometry in order to verify the measurement errors on the values of the uncertainty in estimated parameters.

비대칭 시편의 딥드로잉 실험에 의한 박판금속의 성형한계도 (Identification of Forming Limits of Sheet Metals for Automobile Parts by Asymmetric Deep-drawing Experiments)

  • Identification of forming limits of sheet metals is an important task to be done before the sheet metal forming processes. The information of the forming limit is indispensable for design of deformed shapes and related forming processes. This procedure becomes more important than ever as the auto-body becomes complicated and the number of auto-body parts is reduced for lower production cost. To identify the forming limit of sheet metals stretching with a hemispherical punch has gained popularity because of the convenient experimental procedure. The stretching experiment however has localized deformation or the shear band is originated from the non-unifrom deformation in the critical circum-stance instead of the absolute criterion. More accurate information of the forming limit therefore could be obtained by a more appropriate experiment to the real process. In this papaer an experiment program is devised to practivally identify the forming limits of sheet metals for auto-body parts. The experiment program contains not only stretching but deep-drawing Both forming experiments use the same hemispherical punch while they use different specimens. Deep-drawing experiments use speci-mens cut out in circular arc on both sides of circular blank to make it torn during the deep-drawing They also use speciments cut out straight in one side of a circular blank to make it deformed unevenly which causes local deformation during the deep-drawing. The experimental result demonstrates that the forming limit diagrams in the two cases show difference in their effective magnitude. The forming limit curve from deep-drawing is located lower than that from stretching. It is noted from the result that the deep-drawing process causes acceleration of localized deformation in comparison with the stretching process. From the experimental result the maximum value of forming limit could be pre-dicted for safe design.

PMF모델을 이용한 대기 중 PM-10 오염원의 정량적 기여도 추정 (Estimation of Quantitative Source Contribution of Ambient PM-10 Using the PMF Model)

  • In order to maintain and manage ambient air quality, it is necessary to identify sources and to apportion its sources for ambient particulate matters. The receptor methods were one of the statistical methods to achieve reasonable air pollution strategies. Also, receptor methods, a field of chemometrics, is based on manifold applied statistics and is a statistical methodology that analyzes the physicochemical properties of gaseous and particulate pollutant on various atmospheric receptors, identifies the sources of air pollutants, and quantifies the apportionment of the sources to the receptors. The objective of this study was 1) after obtaining results from the PMF modeling, the existing sources of air at the study area were qualitatively identified and the contributions of each source were quantitatively estimated as well. 2) finally efficient air pollution management and control strategies of each source were suggested. The PMF model was intensively applied to estimate the quantitative contribution of air pollution sources based on the chemical information (128 samples and 25 chemical species). Through a case study of the PMF modeling for the PM-10 aerosols, the total of 11 factors were determined. The multiple linear regression analysis between the observed PM-10 mass concentration and the estimated G matrix had been performed following the FPEAK test. Finally the regression analysis provided quantitative source contributions (scaled G matrix) and source profiles (scaled F matrix). The results of the PMF modeling showed that the sources were apportioned by secondary aerosol related source 28.8 %, soil related source 16.8%, waste incineration source 11.5%, field burning source 11.0%, fossil fuel combustion source 10%, industry related source 8.3%, motor vehicle source 7.9%, oil/coal combustion source 4.4%, non-ferrous metal source 0.3%. and aged sea- salt source 0.2%, respectively.

PMF 모델을 이용한 대기 중 PM-10 오염원의 확인 (Source Identification of Ambient PM-10 Using the PMF Model)

  • The objective of this study was to extensively estimate the air quality trends of the study area by surveying con-centration trends in months or seasons, after analyzing the mass concentration of PM-10 samples and the inorganic lements, ion, and total carbon in PM-10. Also, the study introduced to apply the PMF (Positive Matrix Factoriza-tion) model that is useful when absence of the source profile. Thus the model was thought to be suitable in Korea that often has few information about pollution sources. After obtaining results from the PMF modeling, the existing sources at the study area were qualitatively identified The PM-10 particles collected on quartz fiber filters by a PM-10 high-vol air sampler for 3 years (Mar. 1999∼Dec.2001) in Kyung Hee University. The 25 chemical species (Al, Mn, Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Cd, Ba, Ce, Pb, Si, N $a^{#}$, N $H_4$$^{+}$, $K^{+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$, C $l^{[-10]}$ , N $O_3$$^{[-10]}$ , S $O_4$$^{2-}$, TC) were analyzed by ICP-AES, IC, and EA after executing proper pre - treatments of each sample filter. 두부 손상 보호를 위한 승객용 헬멧 개발 연구 (The Research on the Development of Passenger Helmet to Prevent Head Trauma)

  • Introduction : Head trauma is the main cause of death in aircraft crash. In a Michigan study of structurally survivable, fatal accidents, 80% of the fatally injured had received head trauma. We tried to develop a new helmet for passengers, and perform its efficiency test. Methods : An aircraft helmet requires an excellent protection against head trauma, lightness, and small volumes. In addition, it must be wearable, fire resistant, and non toxic when it is burning. We developed two new helmets made from silicone foam which met all theses requirements. One was thin (2.5cm), and the other was thick (6.3cm). These looked like a motorcycle helmet and had only a soft silicone as liner material without an outer hard shell. Therefore we can carry them easily inside aircrafts. The standard test for helmet is Snell's drop test. It measures the impact acceleration of head shaped metal wearing helmet during we drop it at certain heights. Impact sites were total 5 sites (front, back, right, left and top) for each helmet. All these sites were impacted twice. Results : The thickness of impact sites varied from 2.5cm to 6.3cm. The impact acceleration of 2.5cm thickness site when it was dropped from 1.0 meter was 379g. But, that of 6.3cm thickness site when it was dropped from 1.5 meter was only 163g. Unfortunately, both helmets didn't meet the Snell Standard for motorcycle helmets. Discussion : If we add suitable outer hard shell, and change its thickness and design, the efficiency will be increased. A study indicated that helmet could reduce the risk of head trauma up to 85%. We made helmet for passengers in aircraft crash for the first time. If we improve its weak points, it will decrease the frequency of head trauma in aircraft craft.

부산지역 내륙과 해안의 $PM_{10}$ 중의 금속농도와 이온농도 특성 (Characteristics of Metallic and Ionic Concentration in $PM_{10}$ at Inland and Seashore in Busan)

  • $PM_{10}$ mass were measured in Gwaebeopdong (inland) and Dongsamdong (seashore) of Busan in summer and fall, 2007 and the 24-hour averaged samples were analyzed to investigate temporal and spatial variability of metallic elements and water-soluble ions in $PM_{10}$. Overall average concentrations of $PM_{10}$ mass during the study period were 72.7 ${\mu}g/M^3$ and 64.3 ${\mu}g/M^3$ in Gwaebeopdong and Dongsamdong, respectively. As for metal elements, averaged concentrations of crustal components, Ca, Fe, K, Mn, and Ti, in Gwaebeopdong exhibited enhancement relative to Dongsamdong. Non-crustal elements, Pb and Cu, displayed elevated levels in Gwaebeopdong while Ni and Zn were observed to be high in Dongsamdong. Averaged nitrate concentration in Gwaebeopdong (6.36 ${\mu}g/M^3$) was greater than in Dongsamdong(5.68 ${\mu}g/M^3$) and both areas had higher level of nitrate in summer than in fall. Averaged sulfate concentrations in Dongsamdong (25.4%) exhibited elevated level relative to Gwaebeopdong (19.4%). Overall average contribution of water-soluble ions to $PM_{10}$ in Dongsamdong (47.5%) was higher than in Gwaebeopdong (37.8%). The average mass fractions of secondary ions in $PM_{10}$ were elevated in Dongsamdong (37.1%) as compared to Gwaebeopdong (31.4%). Equivalent ratio of [${SO_4}^{2-}/NO_3{^-}$] was seen to be lower in Gwaebeopdong (1.39) than that in Dongsamdong (1.79) and consistently higher in summer than in fall for both areas.

  • 고체 고분자 전해질에 대한 연구는 1979년 wright와 Armand에 처음 시작된 이래로 지난 20여년간 연구가 계속적으로 지속되고 있다. 전지의 적용되기 위해 전해질이 갖추어야 할 조건중에 이온전도도가 상온에서 10-4 S/cm 이상의 전도도를 나타내야 하지만 지금까지 연구되고 있는 여러 고체 고분자 전해질은 이런 조건을 만족시키지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 이런 상온에서의 이온 전도성을 향상시키기 위해 여러 종류의 실리카와 세라믹 계열의 첨가제를 첨가하여 이온전도성의 향상을 꾀하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 고체 고분자 전해질의 host polymer로써 분자량 400,000 의 Polyethylene oxide를 사용하였으며 Lithuim salt로는 Lithium (bisperfluroethylsulfonyl)imide(3M)를 기본적으로 사용하였다. 여기에 가소제의 역활로써 (3-cyanopropyl)methylsiloxane cyclics를 첨가하였고 표면그룹이 CH3와 OH기로 이루어진 기능성 나노 실리카를(<11nm)이용하여 함량별 전기 화학적 특성 및 기본 물성을 측정하였다. 기본적으로 이 네 가지 물질을 유기용매 Acetonitril에 잘 용해하여 Solid Casting방법으로 80-100 마이크로의 복합고분자 전해질을 제조하였다. Homogeneous하고 uniform한 필름 제조하기 위해 9$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리를 24h 동안 실시하였다. 제조되어진 복합고분자전해질은 XRD를 통하여 결정성을 조사하였고 DSC를 이용하여 유리 전이온도 및 결정화도를 조사하였다. 복합고체고분자의 전기화학적 성질을 평가하기 위해 blocking electrode를 제작하여 임피던스 스펙트로 스코피를 이용하여 이온전도성을 측정하였다. 또한 복합 고분자 전해질의 온도의존성에 대해서도 조사하였다. 또한 실제 전지의 작동구간에서의 전해질의 안정성을 확인하기 위해 LSV를 측정하였고. Li metal을 사용하여 non-blocking electrode를 제작하여 복합고분자 전해질과의 계면저항을 측정하였다.

윈드 디플렉터 형상에 따른 트레일러 주위의 유동해석에 관한 융합 연구 (A Convergent Study on Flow Analysis near Trailer due to Shape of Wind Deflector)

  • 본 연구에서는 트레일러의 디플렉터의 유무 및 그 형상들에 따른 주위의 유동해석을 하였다. 디플렉터가 없는 경우는 디플렉터가 있는 경우보다 컨테이너 뒤로 생기는 난류의 운동에너지도 더 넓은 영역에서 더 높은 운동 에너지가 발생하여 그 항력으로 인하여 차량의 주행성에 나쁜 영향을 미친다. 트레일러의 윈드 디플렉터가 없는 모델은 디플렉터가 있는 모델보다 트레일러 주변 유속이 불안정하고, 난류의 운동에너지도 많이 생겨서, 트레일러에 디플렉터를 설치하므로서 그 연비상승을 기대할 수 있다고 사료된다. 윈드 디플렉터 형상에 따른 트레일러 주위의 유동해석에 대한 연구결과를 적용함으로서, 본 연구가 미적인 융합에 적합된다고 보인다.

스마트폰 케이스의 유무에 따른 충격해석에 관한 융합 연구 (A Convergent Study on Impact Analysis due to Existence or Non-Existence of Smart-phone Case)

  • 본 연구에서는 총 4가지 Model의 스마트폰들에 대하여 충격을 주었을 때, 각각의 모델들에 대한 변형량과 응력들을 해석하여 그 강도를 서로 비교하였다. 케이스를 장착한 경우의 모델들인 Model B와 Model D는 장착하지 않은 모델들인 Model A와 Model C에 비하여 변형량과 응력이 적은 것을 볼 수 있다. 케이스를 포함한 Model들이 케이스가 없는 Model들보다 질량이 더 많아지게 되어 충격력을 흡수함으로서 변형량과 응력을 감소시킬 수 있다. 또한 질량이 Model C와 Model D가 Model A와 Model B에 비하여 작지만 응력과 변형량이 더 작아짐을 보이고 있다. 스마트폰을 제작시에 무게가 적게 나가면서 충격을 흡수할 수 있도록 하기 위하여 모서리 보호에 특화되어 있는 케이스를 선택하여 설계한다면 스마트폰의 강도를 향상시켜 내구성을 증진할 수 있다고 사료된다. 또한 본 연구가 실제적으로 스마트폰 케이스의 내구성이 있는 효율적인 설계와 스마트 폰의 미적인 융합에 적합하여 보인다.
