Detailed flame structures of the opposed flames formed for different oxidant compositions are studied numerically. The detailed chemical reactions are modeled by using the CHEMKIN code. Only the $CO_2$ and $H_2O$ are assumed to participate by absorbing the radiative energy while all other gases are assumed to be transparent. The discrete ordinates method and the narrow band based WSGGM with a gray gas regrouping technique are applied for modeling the radiative transfer through non-homogeneous and non-isothermal combustion gas mixtures generated by the opposed flow flames. The results show that the different radiation model can cause different results for flame structures and the WSGGM with gray gas regrouping is successful in modeling the opposed flames with non-gray gas mixture. The numerical results show that the increases in $CO_2$ and $H_2O$ compositions cause to reduce the flame temperature and the NO formation.

As a macromolecule material, melted rubber flow shows characteristics of shear thinning fluid. The dynamic viscosity of this rubber fluid is influenced by temperature and shear strain rate. In this study, the numerical simulation of rubber extrusion forming process has been performed using commercial CFD code, Polyflow. Power-law model considering the effect of shear rate is used for the computer simulation of this non-Newyonian flow. Also Non-isothermal behavior is considered as Arrhenius-law model. Distributions of velocity and temperature are predicted through the simulation.
The main objective of this study is to understand the regeneration step of the PTSA(Pressure and thermal swing adsorption) process below the atmospheric pressure by rigorous dynamic simulation. This target process is to recover toluene using activated carbon as an adsorbent. To do this, the dynamic simulations for the regeneration step are performed at 360, 490, 590mmHg and at high temperature after the simulation of the adsorption step at latm and 298K. A mathematical model was developed to simulate the column dynamics of the adsorption systems. This model is based on non-equilibrium, non-isothermal and non-adiabatic conditions, and axial dispersion and heat conduction are also considered. Heat transfer resistances are considered in gas-solid, gas-column wall and column wall-outside air. The LDF(Linear Driving Force) approximation model describes the mass transfer rate between the gas and solid phase. This study shows that the recovery of toluene by PTSA is more preferable than that by general TSA.

The convection heat transfer on horizontal circular tube is studied as a conjugated heat transfer problem. With uniform heat generation in a cylindrical heater placed in a cross flow boundary condition, heat flow that is conducted along the wall of the heater creates a non-isothermal surface temperature and non-uniform heat flux distribution. In the present investigation, the effects of circumferential wall heat conduction on convection heat transfer are investigated for the case of forced convection around horizontal circular tube in cross flow of air and water. Non-dimensional conjugation parameter $ K^*$ which can be deduced from the governing energy differential equation should be used to express the effect of circumferential wall heat conduction. Two-dimensional temperature distribution$ T({\gamma,\theta})$ is presented. The influence of circumferential wall heat conduction is demonstrated on graph of local Nusselt number.
With uniform heat generation from the inner surface of the cylindrical heater placed in a cross flow boundary condition, heat flow that is conducted along the wall of the heater creates a non-isothermal surface temperature and non-uniform heat flux distribution. In the present investigation, the effects of circumferential wall heat conduction on convection heat transfer is investigated for the case of forced convection around horizontal circular tube in cross flow of air. The wall conduction number which can be deduced from the governing energy equation should be used to express the effect of circumferential wall heat conduction. It is demonstrated that the circumferential wall heat conduction influences local Nusselt numbers of one-dimensional and two-dimensional solutions.
We have investigated seven Extreme-Ultraviolet (EUV) bright points in the active region (AR 10926) on 2006 December 2 by the EUV imaging spectrometer (EIS) onboard Hinode spacecraft. We determined their Doppler velocities and non-thermal velocities from 15 EUV spectral lines (log T=4.7-7.2) by fitting each line profile to a Gaussian function. We present the Doppler velocity map as a function of temperature which corresponds to a different height. As a result, these active region bright points show two different types of characteristics. Type 1 bright point shows a systematic increase of Doppler velocity from -68 km/s (blue shift) at log T=4.7 to 27 km/s (red shift) at log T=6.7, while type 2 bright points have Doppler velocities in the range of -20 km/s and 20 km/s. Using MDI magnetograms, we found that only type 1 bright point was associated with the canceling magnetic feature at the rate of $2.4{\times}10^{18}$ Mx/hour. When assuming that these bright points are caused by magnetic reconnection and the Doppler shift indicates reconnection out flow, the pattern of the Doppler shift implies that type 1 bright point should be related to low atmosphere magnetic reconnection. We also determined electron densities from line ratio as well as temperatures from emission measure loci using CHIANTI atomic database. The electron densities of all bright points are comparable to typical values of active regions (log Ne=9.9-10.4). For the temperature analysis, the emission loci plots indicate that these bright points should not be isothermal though background is isothermal. The DEM analysis also show that while the background has a single peak distribution (isothermal), the EUV bright points, double peak distributions.
Human enteric Adenovirus 41 (HueAdV-41) is a major waterborne virus that causes human gastroenteritis and is classified as a viral group I double-strand DNA virus, Adenoviridae. HueAdV-41 has been detected with the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in various samples such as ground water. However, the PCR-based diagnostic method has problems such as reaction time, sensitivity, and specificity. Thus, the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay has emerged as an excellent method for field applications. In this study, we developed a LAMP system that can rapidly detect HueAdV-41 with high specificity and sensitivity. HueAdV-41 specific LAMP primer sets were tested through a specific, non-specific selection and sensitivity test for three prepared LAMP primer sets, of which only one primer set and optimum reaction temperature were selected. The developed LAMP primer set condition was confirmed as 63℃, and the sensitivity was 1 copy. In addition, to confirm the system, a LAMP positive reaction was developed with the restriction enzyme Taq I (T/GCC). The developed method in this study was more specific, rapid (typically within 2 - 3 hours), and highly sensitive than that of the conventional PCR method. To evaluate and verify the developed LAMP assay, an artificial infection test was done with five cDNAs from groundwater samples, and the results were compared to those of the conventional PCR method. We expect the developed LAMP primer set will be used to diagnose HueAdV-41 from various samples.

Huanglongbing (HLB) is one of the most destructive diseases in citrus, which imperils the sustainability of citriculture worldwide. The presumed causal agent of HLB, 'Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus' (CLas) is a non-culturable phloem-limited α-proteobacterium transmitted by Asian citrus psyllids (ACP, Diaphorina citri Kuwayama). A widely adopted method for HLB diagnosis is based on quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Although HLB diagnostic qPCR provides high sensitivity and good reproducibility, it is limited by time-consuming DNA preparation from plant tissue or ACP and the requirement of proper lab instruments including a thermal cycler to conduct qPCR. In an attempt to develop a quick assay that can be deployed in the field for CLas detection, we developed a real-time loop-mediated isothermal amplification (rt-LAMP) assay by targeting the CLas five copy nrdB gene. The rt-LAMP assay using various plant sample types and psyllids successfully detected the nrdB target as low as ~2.6 Log10 copies. Although the rt-LAMP assay was less sensitive than laboratory-based qPCR (detection limit ~10 copies), the data obtained with citrus leaf and bark and ACP showed that the rt-LAMP assay has >96% CLas detection rate, compared to that of laboratory-based qPCR. However, the CLas detection rate in fibrous roots was significantly decreased compared to qPCR due to low CLas titer in some root DNA sample. We also demonstrated that the rt-LAMP assay can be used with a crude leaf DNA extract which is fully deployable in the field for quick and reliable HLB screening.

In this paper, a simple and computationally efficient approach to non-isothermal three-dimensional analysis of hot forging processes is presented based on rigid-thermoviscoplastic finite element method. In the approach, the temperatures of dies are considered to be constant. Two hot forging processes of large crank shafts ranging from 800 to 1000 kg are simulated using the simple approach.
