  • Software education is inevitable for the success of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and university education also requires innovation to cope with revolutionary change of the society. The number of students seeking employment in the IT field is steadily increasing regardless of the major of the student. However, the existing software-related courses offered by universities or private educational institutions are limited. This paper analyzes the existing software curriculum of several major universities for non-IT major students. In addition, in-depth surveys by students at Seoul Theological University is conducted to figure out the demand for the advanced level computer science subjects. Finally, new software education curriculum is proposed to fulfill the needs of non-IT major students and to improve the employment rate of non-IT major students seeking tech companies. The new curriculum will help to cultivate intermediate level IT experts that bridge the gap between advanced level IT experts and primitive level computer technicians.

  • Actor-network theory (ANT) pays attention to the relational effect between human and non-human actors, and transforms numerous networks between these actors by treating non-humans as human-like actors. This paper investigated various non-human actors related to the context before and after the introduction of NCS-based curriculum through ANT. This approach is because as a new system is introduced, the impact on the existing network and conflict situations can be looked at more closely. To this end, the researcher reviewed data from October 2014, when S College discussed whether to introduce an NCS-based curriculum, to February 2017, when practical operation was carried out and graduates were produced. In order to understand ANT theory, we analyzed based on the four stages of translation as claimed by Callon in the ANT theory. As a result, some meanings were confirmed in the case of reforming the curriculum of S College where the NCS-based curriculum was introduced. First, it is an in-depth analysis of the situation surrounding the curriculum, which has been overlooked by research on the existing curriculum. Second, it contributed to interpreting the 'hidden meaning' beyond the 'superficial meaning' of the curriculum within the university. Third, it was possible to indirectly check the conflicts and conflicts with the existing system that appeared in the process of introducing the new system to the College.

  • Chonnam National University Medical School has designed and implemented two career planning programs: a three-phase curriculum-based program and a longitudinal non-curricular program over the course of 6 academic years. The three phases of the curriculum-based career planning program are self-assessment, career exploration, and field experience. The non-curricular career counseling program operates through a faculty advisor system, with each faculty member guiding a group of students from each academic year, and students in each year forming a mentor-mentee relationship. The non-curricular career exploration program consists of a student research support program, an international practice program in basic and clinical medicine, and a specialty exploration fair. A survey conducted among 38 graduates (54.3%) working as interns at Chonnam National University Hospital revealed that graduates preferred autonomous elective subjects within the curriculum-based program. They also responded positively to the faculty advisor system, through which they maintained close relationships. A focus group interview with three interns indicated that subjects providing direct experience in fields of interest and courses that students could choose freely were helpful in career decisions. Through follow-up research, it is necessary to design and operate a systematic career planning program based on an analysis of the needs of graduates taking part in a residency training program after selecting a medical specialty.

The conclusions of this study were summarized as follows: First, between accredited and non-accredited program's graduates, we could see significant recognition difference about the perception of the needs of job performance. This was because Design curriculum were reinforced and accredited program's graduates had attended design program at accredited program. Second, accredited program's graduates felt higher than non-accredited program's graduates about the perception of level of work performance. This was because the efforts for curriculum reorganizing and teaching methods improvement were done. Third, we could not find significant recognition difference about the perception of the needs for job performance and work level. That was because accredited and non-accredited program were not dealed seperately. The conclusions of this study are summarized as follows: First, The efforts for analyzing job competence of industry and reflecting the program curriculum are needed on the accredited program for engineering education. Second, Government should make the incentive policy about the companies which give some merits to the accreditation graduates, and monitor constantly their real working. Third, in order that the accreditation results can be trustful on staff recruiting or school choosing, accreditation should make outcome-based-evaluation which guarantees competence of graduates.
