This study investigated the effect of 2-methoxy ethanol (2-Me) non-solvent as additive included in casting solution. Macroporous polymer membranes were prepared by using polyethersufone (PES)/N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP)/2-Me casting solution and water coagulant. The phase separation co-process of the vapor-induced phase separation (VIPS) and liquid-induced phase separation (LIPS) were used by means of membrane preparation method. The pore size and pore size distribution were controlled with additive (non-solvent), and measured with Automated Perm Porometer. By increasing additive (non-solvent) in the casting solution, the membranes produced changed from finger structure to sponge structure. That is due to the different diffusion rates. At slow diffusion process, sponge-like structure was formed and at fast diffusion process, finger-like structure was formed. Also relative humidity, evaporation time, temperature of casting solution and coagulation bath etc. had effects on the pore size distribution and the porosity of the membrane.
To investigate the effect of the predominant microorganisms in kimchi on quality, Leuconostoc mesenteroides ATCC 8293 was used as starter culture during kimchi fermentation. A higher number of lactic acid bacteria and lower initial pH were observed in starter kimchi than in non-starter kimchi in the early stage of fermentation. The concentrations of the main metabolite, lactic acid, were 69.88 mM and 83.85 mM for the non-starter and starter fermented kimchi, respectively. The free sugar concentrations of starter kimchi decreased earlier than those of non-starter kimchi, and the levels of free sugars in both kimchi samples decreased during fermentation. At the end of fermentation, non-starter kimchi had a softer texture than starter kimchi, suggesting that L. mesenteroides is useful in extending shelf life. Sensory evaluation showed that starter kimchi had higher sourness and lower bitterness and astringency values, resulting in high sensory quality. These results suggest that the L. mesenteroides ATCC 8293 strain could be a potential starter culture in kimchi.
To identify the relationship between types of employment(regular and non-regular group) and departments classification (administration, product and research group) and the levels of recognition of chemical substances, a total of 117 workers in cosmetics workplaces. Mainly, regular group and research group showed higher recognition of chemical substances (PPE, ventilation, chemical management, hazards in handling chemicals, skin contact) than non-regular group and administration, product group, but In some cases, production and administrative groups were high. Descriptive statistics(SAS ver9.2)was performed. the results of recognition of chemical substances were analyzed the mean and standard deviation by t-test, and anova, (P=0.05). These results cosmetics manufacturing workplaces have normal level of the perception of chemical substances. In most of the employment types, the regular workers showed high recognition, and the working departments showed high recognition in the research and production groups. Therefore, OEM and ODM cosmetics manufacturers regularly identify characteristics and needs of workplaces and workers, and suggest the development of experience and practiced education programs and risk assessment tools that can raise worker awareness.
A simple preparation method on creating superhydrophobic surface using non-aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was demonstrated. Superhydrophobic CNT thin films were prepared by doping a sonicated mixture of CNTs and chloroform onto a glass slide. Water contact angles of the CNT thin films were measured using a contact angle goniometer. The thin films were characterized using laser microscope and scanning electron microscope. Experimental results revealed that the highest average contact angle of $162{\pm}2^{\circ}$ was achieved when the films' thickness was $1.628{\mu}m$. The superhydrophobic surface was stable as the contact angle only receded from $162{\pm}2$ to $157{\pm}2^{\circ}$ after 10 min under normal atmospheric condition.
In order to increase the specific capacitance and energy density of supercapacitors, non-aqueous supercapacitors were prepared using lithium transition-metal oxides and activated carbons as active materials. The electrochemical properties were analyzed in terms of the content of lithium transition-metal oxides. The results of cyclic voltammetry and AC-impedance analyses showed that the pseudocapacitance may stem from the synergistic contributions of capacitive and faradic effects; the former is due to the electric double layer which is prepared in the interface of activated carbon and organic electrolyte, and the latter is due to the intercalation of lithium ($Li^+$) ions. The specific capacitance and energy density of a supercapacitor improved as the lithium transition-metal oxides content increased, showing 60% increase compared to those of supercapacitor using a pure activated carbon positive electrode.
Symmetric asymmetric and composite perfluoropolymer membranes made with HYFLON AD have been prepared and evaluated. Porous and non porous symmetric membranes have been prepared by solvent evaporation with various processing conditions. Non-contact atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to investigate the membrane morphology in air. Analysis of the images gave quantitative imformation on the surface pore strcture in particular on the pore size distributin. Possible useful uses of porous membranes are envisaged in the field of gas-liquid separations such as membrane contactors (MSc) Molecular Dynamics(MD) simulations structure of HYFLON AD 60X copolymer supporting these results are also reported. Amorphous perfluoropolymer membranes appears to be ideal other than in MCs when separation processes have to be performed in hostile environments i.e. high temperatures and aggressive non-aqueous media such as chemicals and solvents. In these cases HYFLON AD mem-branes can exploit the outstanding resistance of perfluoropolymers.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the structure and mechanical properties of laser-processed pads on their polishing behavior such as their removal rate and WIWNU (within wafer non-uniformity) during the chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) process. The holes on the pad acted as the reservoir of slurry particles and enhanced the removal rate. Without grooves, no effective removal of wafers was possible. When the length of the circular-type grooves was increased, higher removal rates and lower wafer non-uniformity were measured. The removal rate and non-uniformity linearly increased as the elastic modulus of the top pad increased. Higher removal rates and lower non-uniformity were measured as the hardness of the pad increased.

The grafting reaction for maleic anhydride (MA) onto high density polyethylene (HDPE) was investigated from solution process with initiators. The chemical modification of neat HDPE was carried out with various contents of MA (3-21 wt.%) and initiator (0.2-1 wt.%) at different temperature ($80-130^{\circ}C$). The grafting degree was obtained from the titration and the highest grafting degree was 3.1%. The grafting degree increased as the content of MA and initiator increased, however, the highest grafting degree was demonstrated for a particular content of MA and initiator. In the non-isothermal crystallization kinetics, the Ozawa model was unsuitable method to investigate the crystallization behavior of MA onto HDPE, whereas the Avrami and Liu models found effective. The crystallization rate was accelerated as the cooling rate increased, but postponed by combination of MA onto neat HDPE backbone.
New porous separators based on non-polyolefin materials including the blend of poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC)/poly (vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (P(VdF-co-HFP)/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), and the porous separator based on poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) were prepared by phase inversion method. The porosity and morphology were controlled with phase inversion rate, which is governed by the relative content of non-solvent and solvent in coagulation bath. To enhance tensile strength, the solvent pre-evaporation and uni-axial stretching processes were applied. The ionic conductivity was increased with increasing stretching ratio, and tensile strength was increased with increasing solvent pre-evaporation time and stretching ratio. The 200% stretched PVdF separator showed 56 MPa of tensile strength, and the ionic conductivity of the stretched PVdF separator was $8.6{\times}10^{-4}\;S\;cm^{-1}\;at\;25^{\circ}C$.
