  • This study was carried out fusion-welded butt joints in SWS 490A high strength steel subjected to tensile test that load-deflection curve. The windowed or short-time Fourier transform (WFT or SIFT) makes possible for the analysis of non-stationary or transient signals into a joint time-frequency domain and the wavelet transform (WT) is used to decompose the acoustic emission (AE) signal into various discrete series of sequences over different frequency bands. In this paper, for acoustic emission signal analysis to use a continuous wavelet transform, in which the Gabor wavelet base on a Gaussian window function is applied to the time-frequency domain. A wavelet transform is demonstrated and the plots are very powerful in the recognition of the acoustic emission features. As a result, the technique of acoustic emission is ideally suited to study variables which control time and stress dependent fracture or damage process in metallic materials.

  • Location-aware networks are of great importance for both civil lives and military applications. Methods based on line-of-sight (LOS) measurements suffer sever performance loss in harsh environments such as indoor scenarios, where sensors can receive both LOS and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) measurements. In this paper, we propose a data association (DA) process based on the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm, which enables us to exploit multipath components (MPCs). By setting the mapping relationship between the measurements and scatters as a latent variable, coefficients of the Gaussian mixture model are estimated. Moreover, considering the misalignment of sensor position, we propose a space-alternating generalized expectation maximization (SAGE)-based algorithms to jointly update the target localization and sensor position information. A two dimensional (2-D) circularly symmetric Gaussian distribution is employed to approximate the probability density function of the sensor's position uncertainty via the minimization of the Kullback-Leibler divergence (KLD), which enables us to calculate the expectation step with low computational complexity. Moreover, a distributed implementation is derived based on the average consensus method to improve the scalability of the proposed algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed centralized and distributed algorithms can perform close to the Monte Carlo-based method with much lower communication overhead and computational complexity.

  • The evaluation of specimen thickness effect of fatigue crack growth life by the simulation of probabilistic fatigue crack growth is presented. In this paper, the material resistance to fatigue crack growth is treated as a spatial stochastic process, which varies randomly on the crack surface. Using the previous experimental data, the non-Gaussian(eventually Weibull, in this report) random fields simulation method is applied. This method is useful to estimate the probability distribution of fatigue crack growth life and the variability due to specimen thickness by simulating material resistance to fatigue crack growth along a crack path.

The material resistance is treated as a Weibull stochastic process. A non-Gaussian stochastic fields simulation method proposed by Shimozuka, et al is applied with the statistical data obtained experimentally. Test results are obtained for $\Delta$K constant amplitude load in tension with stress ratio of R=0.2 and three specimen thicknesses of 6, 12 and 18mm. This simulation method is useful to estimate the probability distribution of fatigue crack growth life and the smallest life.

  • Industrial machines are sometimes exposed to the danger of earthquake. In the design of a mechanical system, this factor should be accounted for from the viewpoint of reliability. A method to analyze a complex nonlinear structure system under random excitation is proposed. First, the actual random excitation, such as earthquake, is approximated to the corresponding Gaussian process far the statistical analysis. The modal equations of overall system are expanded sequentially. Then, the perturbed equations are synthesized into the overall system and solved in probabilistic way. Several statistical properties of a random process that are of interest in random vibration applications are reviewed in accordance with nonlinear stochastic problem. The obtained statistical properties of the nonlinear random vibration are evaluated in each substructure. Comparing with the results of the numerical simulation proved the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • 태아심박의 모니터링은 태아의 안녕을 평가하기 위해 중요한 정보이다. 비관혈적인 태아심전도는 산모의 복부 신호로부터 추출될 수 있다. 따라서 산모 복부의 혼합 신호로부터 태아심전도를 추출하기 위해 많은 유망한 신호처리 방법들이 개발되어 왔다. 그러나 비관혈적인 태아심전도는 안정적인 신호 측정법이 부족하고 신호처리 방법의 어려움으로 여전히 임상에서 널리 적용되지 못하고 있다. 태아심전도를 추출하는 신호처리 결과는 가우시안 백색잡음에 의해 신호대잡음비가 낮아질 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 태아심전도에서 시간에 따라 변하는 백색잡음 신호를 제거하여 신호대잡음비를 높이기 위한 방법으로 시변 칼만 평활기를 제안하였고 그 가능성을 확인하였다. Wiener 과정을 시스템 모델로 설정하고 백색잡음 크기에 따라 공분산 행렬을 수정하였으며, 이를 통해 칼만 이득을 변화시켜 평활화 정도를 가변시킬 수 있도록 설계하였다. 5채널 태아심전도 모델을 이용하여 백색잡음의 크기에 따른 최적 공분산 행렬 값을 구하였고, 모의실험을 통해 제안된 방법의 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

Case studies on the probabilistic characteristics of ultimate strength of stiffened panels with uniform and non-uniform localized corrosion subjected to uniaxial and biaxial thrust

  • Based on Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis (NFEA), this paper focuses on the bi-axial ultimate strength of typical bottom structures under corrosion. On one hand, uniform and not simultaneous corrosion across different structures is introduced, and surrogate models by Gaussian Process (GP) are built for both longitudinal and transverse cases individually, and corresponding probabilistic characteristics are investigated; meanwhile, corrosion effects on interaction between bi-axial stresses at ultimate state are studied. On the other hand, non-uniform localized pitting corrosion of normally distributed circular shapes is introduced, and different pitting corrosion densities are considered; structural bi-axial ultimate strengths under pitting corrosion are studied, and the results are compared with that from equivalent uniform corrosion; the probabilistic characteristics of structural ultimate strength in life cycle are studied; finally, the ultimate strength under randomly distributed pitting corrosion is compared with results from normally distributed pitting and uniform corrosion under various boundary conditions.

SAR 영상에서 웨이블렛 기반 Non-Local Means 필터를 이용한 스펙클 잡음 제거 (Wavelet Based Non-Local Means Filtering for Speckle Noise Reduction of SAR Images)

  • 본 논문에서는 일반 영상의 가우시안 잡음 제거에 유용한 Non-Local Means 필터를 이용하여 웨이블렛 도메인 상에서 SAR 영상의 스펙클 잡음제거 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 먼저 승법 잡음인 스펙클 잡음을 로그를 취해 가법 잡음으로 변환한 후 웨이블렛 분해하고 고주파 혹은 저주파 서브밴드에 따라 Non-Local Means 필터와 웨이블렛 임계값 처리(wavelet thresholding)를 선택적으로 적용하고 지수형태를 취해 원영상으로 복원함으로서 잡음을 제거한다. 또한, Non-Local Means 필터의 단점인 수행시간을 단축시키기 위해 통계적 t-검정을 이용하여 개선하고자 한다. 영상실험을 통한 성능평가 결과 제안된 필터는 정성적인 비교와 PSNR과 DSSIM을 통한 정량적인 비교 모두 기존의 필터보다 우수한 성능을 보였다. 통계적 t-검정을 이용해 개선된 방법은 빠른 계산 속도와 더 나은 성능을 나타냈다.

  • 최근 들어 디지털 영상처리 장치에 대한 수요가 급격히 증대되면서 영상의 우수한 화질이 요구되고 있다. 그러나 영상 데이터는 전송, 처리하는 과정에서 여러 가지 원인으로 열화가 발생된다. 따라서 잡음제거에 대한 필요성이 대두되고 있으며, 잡음 제거 기술은 주요한 연구 분야가 되었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 영상에 첨가된 AWGN(additive white Gaussian noise)의 영향을 완화하기 위해, 전처리 과정으로 변형된 에지 검출을 활용하여, 에지 영역과 비에지 영역에 따라 필터를 다르게 적용하는 영상 복원 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 그리고 개선 효과의 객관적 판단 기준으로 PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio)을 사용하여 기존의 방법들과 비교하였다.
