  • In this paper, we propose a new IPC(Interlace to Progressive Conversion) method based on ELA(EDge Line based Average) interpolation using detecting the reliable edge direction. Existing ELA algorithms execute linear interpolation using edge direction without considering noises. In noisy images, these algorithms degrade quality because if interpolation based on the wrong edge direction. Out scheme is able to solve the problem of existing ELA algorithms in noisy images. First, filter a noisy pixel and estimate sizes of the noiseless orginal pixed and the noise, repectively. Then, considering the size of the noise, calculate weights of ELA and vertical interpolation. If noises exist after IPC, these could be eliminated by post filtering. The experimental results show that our proposed algorithm has about $1{\sim}2$ dB better performance than those of existing ELA algorithms.

  • In this paper 10Mbps master-slave based PLC modems are tested for measuring and analyzing both network and application level performances in the general buildings. The devices under test consist of one master PLC modem and three slave modems. The selected parameters for inspecting the performances are throughput, latency and frame loss rate from the RFC 2544, and one-to-many and many-to-one throughput from the RFC 2285. The results of the performance test show that the PLC modems have Performed better in data transmission when the frame size is increased and the transmission speed is decreased. It is expected that these results will be useful to analyze the effect of noise sources when compared to the performance test under the noiseless environments.

  • The use of induction motors has been recently increasing in a variety of industrial sites, and they play a significant role. This has motivated that many researchers have studied on developing fault detection and classification systems of induction motors in order to reduce economical damage caused by their faults. To early identify induction motor faults, this paper effectively estimates spectral envelopes of each induction motor fault by utilizing a linear prediction coding (LPC) analysis technique and an expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. Moreover, this paper classifies induction motor faults into their corresponding categories by calculating Mahalanobis distance using the estimated spectral envelopes and finding the minimum distance. Experimental results show that the proposed approach yields higher classification accuracies than the state-of-the-art conventional approach for both noiseless and noisy environments for identifying the induction motor faults.

  • In this paper, we provide a general expression of spatial multiplexing gain (SMG) for two mutually interfering multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channels, referred to as MIMO-IBC, when some of user messages are made available to base stations through a common noiseless backbone line. The MIMO-IBC has two base stations and multiple users, each equipped with multiple antennas, where independent messages are transmitted over fixed channels. From the derived results, we observe the variation of the SMG with respect to the presence of a coordination as well as various antenna distributions, and compare the derived result to the SMG of the case with full cooperation among users.

  • This paper describes the design of a simulator for analyzing the accuracy of a correlative interferometer(CI) direction finder. CI direction finder is robust to noise, so it is often used in aircraft or ships where complex antenna installation is required, and the direction finding accuracy is very high. When the radio wave is incident at a specific azimuth angle, the phase difference calculated in a noiseless environment and the phase difference measured in a real environment with noise are fused to estimate the largest correlation coefficient as the azimuth angle of the radio wave. The simulator receives RF frequency, the number of antennas, the antenna coordinates, the transmission signal intensity, the bandwidth of the receiver, the gain and the payload effect, and calculates the direction finding accuracy of 0-360 degrees azimuth and 0-60 degree elevation with 0.5 degree. accuracy.

  • This paper proposes a method that extracts characteristics of cracks such as length, thickness and direction from a concrete slab surface image with image processing techniques. These techniques extract the cracks from the concrete surface image in variable conditions including bad image conditions) using the ART2-based RBF network to recognize the dominant directions -45 degree, 45 degree, horizontal and vertical) of the extracted cracks from the automatically calculated specifications like the lengths, directions and widths of the cracks. Our proposed extraction algorithms and analysis of the concrete cracks used a Robert operation to emphasize the cracks, and a Multiple operation to increase the difference in brightness between the cracks and background. After these treatments, the cracks can be extracted from the image by using an iterated binarization technique. Noise reduction techniques are used three separate times on this binarized image, and the specifications of the cracks are extracted form this noiseless image. The dominant directions can be recognized by using the ART2-based RBF network. In this method, the ART2 is used between the input layer and the middle layer to learn, and the Delta learning method is used between the middle layer and the output layer. The experiments using real concrete images showed that the cracks were effectively extracted, and the Proposed ART2-based RBF network effectively recognized the directions of the extracted cracks.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel noiseless method of BRDF rendering on a GPU in real-time. Illumination at a surface point is formulated as an integral of BRDF producted with incident radiance over the hemi-sphere domain. The most popular method to compute the integral is the Monte Carlo method, which needs a large number of samples to achieve good image quality. But, it leads to increase of rendering time. Otherwise, a small number of sample points cause serious image noise. The main contribution of our work is a new importance sampling scheme producing a set of incoming ray samples varying continuously with respect to the eye ray. An incoming ray is importance-based sampled at different latitude angles of the eye ray, and then the ray samples are linearly connected to form a curve, called a thread. These threads give continuously moving incident rays for eye ray change, so they do not make image noise. Since even a small number of threads can achieve a plausible quality and also can be precomputed before rendering, they enable real-time BRDF rendering on the GPU.

  • In this paper, we conducted word-to-word similarity analysis of standardized datasets collected through web crawling for 10,000 Vertical Noise Mouses using Word2Vec, and made 92 students of computer engineering use the products presented for 5 days, and conducted self-report questionnaire analysis. The questionnaire analysis was conducted by collecting the words in the form of a narrative form and presenting and selecting the top 50 words extracted from the word frequency analysis and the word similarity analysis. As a result of analyzing the similarity of e-commerce user's product review, pain (.985) and design (.963) were analyzed as the advantages of click keywords, and the disadvantages were vertical (.985) and adaptation (.948). In the descriptive frequency analysis, the most frequently selected items were Vertical (123) and Pain (118). Vertical (83) and Pain (75) were selected for the advantages of selecting the long/demerit similar words, and adaptation (89) and buttons (72) were selected for the disadvantages. Therefore, it is expected that decision makers and product planners of medium and small enterprises can be used as important data for decision making when the method applied in this study is reflected as a new product development process and a review strategy of existing products.

  • Purpose: SPECT using a fan-beam collimator improves spatial resolution and sensitivity. For the reconstruction from fan-beam projections, it is necessary to implement direct fan-beam reconstruction methods without transforming the data into the parallel geometry. In this study, various fan-beam reconstruction algorithms were implemented and their performances were compared. Materials and Methods: The projector for fan-beam SPECT was implemented using a ray-tracing method. The direct reconstruction algorithms implemented for fan-beam projection data were FBP (filtered backprojection), EM (expectation maximization), OS-EM (ordered subsets EM) and MAP-EM OSL (maximum a posteriori EM using the one-step late method) with membrane and thin-plate models as priors. For comparison, the fan-beam protection data were also rebinned into the parallel data using various interpolation methods, such as the nearest neighbor, bilinear and bicubic interpolations, and reconstructed using the conventional EM algorithm for parallel data. Noiseless and noisy projection data from the digital Hoffman brain and Shepp/Logan phantoms were reconstructed using the above algorithms. The reconstructed images were compared in terms of a percent error metric. Results: for the fan-beam data with Poisson noise, the MAP-EM OSL algorithm with the thin-plate prior showed the best result in both percent error and stability. Bilinear interpolation was the most effective method for rebinning from the fan-beam to parallel geometry when the accuracy and computation load were considered. Direct fan-beam EM reconstructions were more accurate than the standard EM reconstructions obtained from rebinned parallel data. Conclusion: Direct fan-beam reconstruction algorithms were implemented, which provided significantly improved reconstructions.
