The distribution control of refrigerant flow is one of the basic technique to enhance system efficiency. However, if engineers forget to control the refrigerant flow speed in all operation range, refrigerant flow mal distribution becomes a noise source. The refrigerant flow noise should be checked and controlled at the lowest air flow mode which is the most silent mode and frequently used in night time.
In this paper, a SAR-despeck1ing approach of adaptive iteration based a Bayesian model using the lognormal distribution for image intensity and a Gibbs random field (GRF) for image texture is proposed for noise removal of the images that are corrupted by multiplicative speckle noise. When the image intensity is logarithmically transformed, the speckle noise is approximately Gaussian additive noise, and it tends to a normal probability much faster than the intensity distribution. The MRF is incorporated into digital image analysis by viewing pixel types as states of molecules in a lattice-like physical system. The iterative approach based on MRF is very effective for the inner areas of regions in the observed scene, but may result in yielding false reconstruction around the boundaries due to using wrong information of adjacent regions with different characteristics. The proposed method suggests an adaptive approach using variable parameters depending on the location of reconstructed area, that is, how near to the boundary. The proximity of boundary is estimated by the statistics based on edge value, standard deviation, entropy, and the 4th moment of intensity distribution.
The developed control valves, installed on the hot water distribution manifolds for the floor heating system, consist of the balancing valves and the shut-off valves. The balancing valve was designed to improve the flow control performance and to reduce the noise emitted from the valve by modification of the general V port. The port of the shut-off valve was designed with two ceramic plates, working by rotating upper plate, to improve the duration and to reduce the noise. For the evaluation of the new valves, the flow rate was measured and noise level test was carried out. The test results showed that the error of the flow rate accuracy test for the flow balance of each manifold circuit was less than ${\pm}3%$ and the noise level was less than 35 dB(A).
A computerized axial flow fan design system is developed with the capabilities for predicting the aerodynamic performance and the noise characteristics of fan. In the present study, the basic fan blading design is made by combining vortex distribution scheme with camber line design, airfoil selection, blade thickness distribution and stacking of blade elements. With the designed fan blade geometry, the through-flow field and the performance of fan are analyzed by using the streamline curvature computing scheme with spanwise total pressure loss and flow deviation models. Fan noise is assumed to be generated due to the pressure fluctuation induced by wake vortices of fan blades and to radiate as dipole distribution. The vortex-induced fluctuating pressure on blade surface is calculated by combining thin airfoil theory and the predicted flow field data. The predicted performances, sound pressure level and noise directivity patterns of fan by the present method are favorably compared with the test data of actual fans. Furthermore, the present method is shown to be very useful in designing the blade geometry of new fan and optimizing design variables of the fan to achieve higher efficiency and lower noise level.
In this paper, an iterative MAP approach using a Bayesian model based on the lognormal distribution for image intensity and a GRF for image texture is proposed for despeckling the SAR images that are corrupted by multiplicative speckle noise. When the image intensity is logarithmically transformed, the speckle noise is approximately Gaussian additive noise, and it tends to a normal probability much faster than the intensity distribution. MRFs have been used to model spatially correlated and signal-dependent phenomena for SAR speckled images. The MRF is incorporated into digital image analysis by viewing pixel types as slates of molecules in a lattice-like physical system defined on a GRF Because of the MRF-SRF equivalence, the assignment of an energy function to the physical system determines its Gibbs measure, which is used to model molecular interactions. The proposed Point-Jacobian Iterative MAP estimation method was first evaluated using simulation data generated by the Monte Carlo method. The methodology was then applied to data acquired by the ESA's ERS satellite on Nonsan area of Korean Peninsula. In the extensive experiments of this study, The proposed method demonstrated the capability to relax speckle noise and estimate noise-free intensity.

It is necessary to predict the sound pressure level(SPL) in rooms before designing an apartment when exterior noises are produced. In order to predict SPL for an apartment that has some specific exterior noises, the following should be known: the characteristics of outdoor noise, sound insulation performance and sound level differences of each room. The purpose of this study is to find out the possibility of predicting sound pressure level of rooms in an apartment by analysing sound level differences among rooms. Sound sources used in this experiment are construction noise, aircraft noise, railroad noise, road traffic noise and white noise as a reference to compare with the previous four. These noises were recorded and reproduced by speaker. As a result, we found that within the sound reduction pattern, the sound difference level appeared uniform depending on the sound insulation characteristics of the windows installed when facing the noise source. When the windows having the same acoustic performance were installed, the SPL in each room resulted in nearly the same values.

This paper describes the evaluation of noise influence of residental and boundary areas from power plant noise sources of 1200MW combined cycle power plant. Noise assessments are carried out by based on the ISO 3744, ISO 9613-1 and ISO 9613-2 to predict the noise distribution to satisfy the recommended noise level at specific locations and to calculate properly the octave noise power of main noise sources such as power transformers. air-intakes, stacks.
Fan selection procedure and fan noise evaluation method are presented for the system electronic cooling by combining FNM(Flow Network Model) and fan noise correlation model. Internal flow paths and distribution in electronic system we analyzed by using the FNM with the flow resistances for flow elements of the system. Based on the fan operation point predicted from the FNM analysis results, the present fan noise model predicts overall sound power, pressure levels and spectrum. The predictions of the flow distribution, the fan operation and the noise level in electronic system by the present method are well agreed with 3-D CFD and actual test results.
In this paper, We show that the bandpass random signals of the form ∑$_{\alpha}$$\alpha$$_{\alpha}$ a Sin(2$\pi$f$_{\alpha}$t + b$_{\alpha}$) where a$_{\alpha}$ being a random number in [0,1], f$_{\alpha}$ a random integer in a given frequency band, and b$_{\alpha}$ a random number in [0, 2$\pi$], generate Gaussian white noise signals and hence they are adequate for simulating Continuous Markov processes. We apply the result to the fluctuation-dissipation formula for the Johnson noise and show that the probability distribution for the long term average of the power of the Johnson noise is a X$^2$ distribution and that the relative error of the long term average is (equation omitted) where N is the number of blocks used in the average.error of the long term average is (equation omitted) where N is the number of blocks used in the average.
For this study, in order to reduce a measuring error. author used a portable radio mise measuring and processing equipment especially designed. The time & frequency characteristics of HF band radio noise fran the sample site in Yeungnam region had been accomplished and statistical analysis carried out at the site. The results had been compared with the distribution chart of an atmospheric noise :indicated in the CCIR Report 322 issue. It showed that type of a measured noise distribution was similiar to that of the report but the man-made noise had a remarkable effect on the characteristic curves of HF band radio noise about the site.
