화학비료와 퇴비 시용으로 재배한 상추의 질산염 축적 비교 (Comparison of Nitrate Accumulation in Lettuce Grown under Chemical Fertilizer or Compost Applications)

  • 화학비료 표준시비량과 시중에서 구입한 퇴비 2,000 및 4,000 kg/10a 수준의 처리로 상추를 재배하여 잎 중의 $NO_3$ 축적 현상을 비교하였다. 화학비료 표준시비량 처리에 비하여 퇴비 4,000 kg/10a 수준의 처리로 상추의 수량을 충분히 확보하고 잎 중의 $NO_3$ 함량을 안전한 수준 이하로 현저히 저감시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 용탈에 의한 질소의 유실이 거의 없는 온실 조건에서는 상추에 대한 화학비료의 현행 권장 시비수준이 과다한 것으로 판단되며, 상추를 비롯한 야채류의 $NO_3$ 함량을 낮추고 토양의 염류집적을 저감하기 위해서는 화학비료 적정 시용량에 대한 재검토가 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 안전농산물의 생산을 목표로 하는 유기농업에서도 작물의 적정 질소 요구량을 기준으로 퇴비 등의 질소 공급자재의 시용량을 결정해야 할 것이다.

비열 플라즈마에 의한 NO의 산화에서의 탄화수소 첨가 효과와 그 반응역학에 대한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study of the Effects of Hydrocarbon Addition and Corresponding Chemical Kinetics on the Promotion of NO Oxidation in Nonthermal Plasma DeNOx Treatment)

  • In the present study, a systematic chemical kinetic calculations were made to investigate the augmentation of $NO-NO_2$ conversion due to the addition of various hydrocarbons (methane, ethylene, ethane, propylene, propane) in the nonthermal plasma treatment. It is included in the present conclusion that the reaction between hydrocarbon and oxygen radicals induced by electron collision, is believed to be a primarily process for triggering the overall NO oxidation and the eventual NOx reduction. Upon the completion of the initiating step, various radicals (OH, $HO_2$ etc.) successively are produced by hydrocarbon decomposition form the primary path of $NO-NO_2$ conversion. When the initiating step is not activated, hydrocarbon consumption rate appeared to be very low, thereby the targeted level of NO conversion can only be achieved by the addition of more input energy. Present study showed ethylene and propylene to have higher affinity with O radical under all conditions, thereby both of these hydrocarbons show very fast and efficient $NO-NO_2$ oxidation. It was also shown that propylene is superior to ethylene in the aspect of NOx removal.

Synthesis, Structures and Properties of Two Metal-organic Frameworks Derived from 3-Nitro-1,2-benzenedicarboxylic Acid

  • Two metal-organic frameworks based on the connectivity co-effect between rigid benzenedicarboxylic acid and bridging ligand have been synthesized $[Zn_2(3-NO_2-bdc)_2(4,4'-bpy)_2H_2O]_n$ (1), $[Co(3-NO_2-bdc)(4,4'-bpy)H_2O]_n$ (2) (where $3-NO_2-bdcH_2$ = 3-nitro-1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, 4,4'-bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine). The two novel complexes were characterized by IR spectrum, elemental analysis, fluorescent properties, thermogravimetric analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). X-ray structure analysis reveals that 1 and 2 are two-dimensional (2D) network structures. Complex 1 and complex 2 belong to triclinic crystal with P-1 space group. The luminescence measurements reveal that two complexes exhibit good fluorescent emissions in the solid state at room temperature. Also, thermal decomposition process and powder X-ray diffraction of complexes were investigated.

Sensitivity Study of the Flow-through Dynamic Flux Chamber Technique for the Soil NO Emissions

  • A mathematical sensitivity analysis of the flow-through dynamic flux chamber technique, which has been utilized usually for various trace gas flux measurement from soil and water surface, was performed in an effort to provide physical and mathematical understandings of parameters essential for the NO flux calculation. The mass balance equation including chemical reactions was analytically solved for the soil NO flux under the steady state condition. The equilibrium concentration inside the chamber, $C_{eq}$, was found to be determined mainly by the balance between the soil flux and dilution of the gas concentration inside the chamber by introducing the ambient air. Surface deposition NO occurs inside the chamber when the $C_{eq}$ is greater than the ambient NO concentration ($C_{0}$) introducing to the chamber; NO emission from the soil occurs when the $C_{eq}$ is less than the ambient NO concentration. A sensitivity analysis of the significance of the chemical reactions of NO with the reactive species (i.e. $HO_{2},/CH_{3}O_{2},/O_{3}$) on the NO flux from soils was performed. The result of the analysis suggests that the NO flux calculated in the absence of chemical reactions and wall loss could be in error ranges from 40 to $85\%$ to the total flux.

N-nitroso-N-methylurea and N-nitroso-N-ethylurea Decrease in Nitric Oxide Production in Human Malignant Keratinocytes

  • N-nitroso-N-methylurea (NMU) and N-nitroso-N-ethylurea (NEU), direct alkylating chemical mutagens and carcinogens, are shown to be the upregulators of cellular $NF-{\kappa}B$, regulating various genes that mediate tumorigenesis and carcinogenesis. Nitric oxide (NO), a toxic reactive radical gas, has been known to induce programmed cell death or apoptosis in various cells. Therefore, the assessment of NO production was examined to elucidate the possible contribution of NO release to the chemical carcinogenic potency of NMU and NEU in human skin cells. NMU and NEU did not alter the NO production, but they caused a significant downregulation of the NO generation on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced NO production at concentrations ranging from $2{\sim}5{\mu}M$. The degree of downregulation of NO by NMU and NEU decreased up to 15% and 20%, respectively, compared to the control. These results demonstrate that the LPS-inducible keratinocytes NO synthase is involved in modulating carcinogenic potency by NMU and NEU, and the regulation of the cellular $NF-{\kappa}B$ activity by NMU and NEU is negatively correlated with the level of LPS-induced NO production in human skin cells. The findings of this study suggest the hypothesis that NMU and NEU-induced carcinogenesis may be associated with the downregulation of NO production, and the inducible NO may play an important role in NMU and NEU-induced carcinogenicity in human epidermal keratinocytes.

촉매 코팅방법에 따른 기능성여과포의 NO 제거 반응 특성 (Effects of Catalyst Coating Methods on NO Removal Characteristics of Functional Fabric Filters)

  • NOx와 먼지 동시 제거용 기능성 여과포 개발의 일환으로 $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ 계열의 상용촉매를 사용하여 P-84, Nomex, PTFE 여과포에 코팅하였다. 사용된 코팅 방법은 Sol-gel법, Spray 법 그리고 Dip 코팅 방법이었으며 코팅방법이 여과포의 NOx 제거 반응에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. NOx 제거반응실험은 여과포의 작동온도에 맞는 $100-250^{\circ}C$의 반응온도범위에서, 공간속도 $5,000hr^{-1}$, 산소농도 6%, $NH_3/NO$ 몰비는 1.0의 조건하에서 수행되었다. 본 연구에서 시도된 세 가지 코팅 방법 중 촉매량의 조절 및 균일한 코팅이 용이한 Sol-gel법에 의해 제조된 기능성여과포가 가장 좋은 NOx 전환율을 나타냈다.

돈분액비 시용이 감자 생육, 토양화학성 및 침투수질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Liquid Pig Manure on Growth of Potato, Soil Chemical Properties and Infiltration Water Quality)

  • 제주지역의 화산회토양과 비화산회토양에서 감자재배시에 돈분액비를 시용하였을 때 감자의 생산성, 토양화학성 및 침투수의 특성에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위하여 수행하였다. 초장과 줄기 굵기는 화산회토양과 비화산회토양에서 화학비료구와 돈분액비 시용구간에 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 총수량과 상품수량은 화학비료구와 돈분액비 시용구간에 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 화산회토양과 비화산회토양의 토양 pH는 돈분액비 시용구가 화학비료 시용구보다 높았다. 치환성 칼륨함량은 돈분액비 100%구에서 과다하게 축적되었으나, 화학비료 100%구와 화학비료 50%+돈분액비 50%구와는 차이가 없었다. 유효인산, 치환성 칼슘과 마그네슘은 처리 간에 차이가 없었다. 화산회토양과 비화산회토양에서 토양 70 cm 깊이에서 채취한 침투수의 질산태질소 농도는 무비구가 가장 낮았다. 화산회토양에서 질산태질소 용탈은 시험초기부터 이루어진 반면, 비화산회토양에서 질산태질소 용탈은 생육중기인 10월 8일까지 계속적으로 증가되었고, 두 토양의 돈분액비 100%구에서 높은 경향이었으나, 화학비료구와 돈분액비 시용구간에 큰 차이는 없었다. 결론적으로 화학비료 50%와 돈분액비 50%를 혼합사용하면 감자생육, 토양비옥도 및 침투수의 질산태질소 함량은 화학비료 100%구와 차이가 없기 때문에 화학비료 일부를 돈분액비로 대체할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
