  • The present study aims to investigate domain-initial strengthening phenomenon, which refers to strengthening of articulatory gestures at the initial positions of prosodic domains. More specifically, this paper presents the result of an experimental study of initial syllables with onset consonants (initial-syllable vowels henceforth) of various prosodic domains in English and Hamkyeong Korean, a pitch accent dialect spoken in the northern part of North Korea. The durations of initial-syllable vowels are compared to those of second vowels in real-word tokens for both languages, controlling both stress and segmental environment. Hamkyeong Korean, like English, tuned out to strengthen the domain-initial consonants. With regard to vowel durations, no significant prosodic effect was found in English. On the other hand, Hamkyeong Korean showed significant differences between the durations of initial and non-initial vowels in the higher prosodic domains. The theoretical implications of the findings are as follows: The potentially universal phenomenon of initial strengthening is shown to be subject to language specific variations in its implementation. More importantly, the distinct phonetics- phonology model (Pierrehumbert & Beckman, 1998; Keating, 1990; Cohn, 1993) is better equipped to account for the facts in the present study.

In order to achieve the purpose of this paper, it is gone ahead of the literature review including the previous research on the manu goods evaluation of tourist hotels. The major field research is to build a frame of the paper and present the model to release my humble theory. The limitation of the study was to make much of literature basis due to insufficient previous research on the issue. This is an unprecedented study on bakery department in tourist hotels in Korea thus no research model was unavailable for cross reference or comparative research. The evaluation of bakery menu good is directly related to the satisfaction of tourist hotels bakery consumers and we need a substantial managerial development method of bakery menu goods. This study has two goals in line with the purpose of investigation, that is to say, by understanding vital statistics of consumer and influence factor were created, and finally the factors and consumers and professional worker identified. The study would be framed into 5 parts like introduction, literature review, inquiry a plan and analysis method, consequence and discussion & conclusion. After the exploitative research, the study was approached to make findings through the questionnaires designed to find the relationship factor between consumer's evaluation and professional worker's evaluation of bakery menu goods in tourist hotels.

  • In recent times, motion capture technology using inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors has been actively used in sports. In this study, we developed a canoe paddle, installed with an IMU and a water level sensor, as a system tool for training and calibration purposes in water sports. The hardware was fabricated to control an attitude heading reference system (AHRS) module, a water level sensor, a communication module, and a wireless charging circuit. We also developed an application program for the mobile device that processes paddling motion data from the paddling operation and also visualizes it. An AHRS module with acceleration, gyro, and geomagnetic sensors each having three axes, and a resistive water level sensor that senses the immersion depth in the water of the paddle represented the paddle motion. The motion data transmitted from the paddle device is internally decoded and classified by the application program in the mobile device to perform visualization and to operate functions of the mobile training/correction system. To conclude, we tried to provide mobile knowledge service through paddle sport data using this technique. The developed system works reasonably well to be used as a basic training and posture correction tool for paddle sports; the transmission delay time of the sensor system is measured within 90 ms, and it shows that there is no complication in its practical usage.

  • When a vibration is generated due to the misalignment, the reduction of the vibration level is not attainable unless a correct shaft alignment is conducted. In a turbine system, an alignment procedure requires quite a lot amount of expense and time. To reduce this effort, an algorithm of the turbine alignment is developed to be used in the computer program. The program consists of five parts : input, calculation, display of the results, file management, and printer output. In the input part, users must provide the data on the turbine number, the reference value of the alignment, and the number of the feet of the generator. In calculation, the moving distance of the bearing and the necessary amount of the shims are calculated. In the display and the output parts, the calculated results are displayed and calculated. In the display and the output parts, the calculated results are displayed and printed. Then, by using the file management, results and procedures conducted are saved in the floppy diskette or in the hard disk. The developed program can be run in IBM PC compatible with more than 640 KB of main memory with the operating system of MS-DOS v 3.3 or higher. It is developed for novice users with no experience or specialty in this field. The program is not only useful in the power plant application, but also helpful for recording of the alignment procedures.

  • J. R. PARK. The Analysis of Electrimyography and Kinematic of Kumdo Player's Head Hitting. Korean Journal of Sport Biomechanics, Vol. 15, No. 1, pp. 63-74, 2005. The purpose of this study were to describe and compare the selected electromyographical muscle activities of arm and kinematic data of kumdo player's head hitting. Using surface electrode electromyography, we evaluated muscle activity in 6 male players during head hitting motion. Surface electrodes were used to record the level of muscle activity in the carpi radialis, deltoid, triceps, biceps muscles during the player's head hitting. These signals were compared with %RVC(Reference voluntary contraction) which was normalized by IEMG(Integrated EMG). The kumdo head hitting motion was divided into two phases: back swing, down swing. we observed patterns of arm muscle activity throughout two phases of the kumdo head hiting The results can be summarized as follows: right elbow angle had decreased and left deltoid muscle's activation had higher than right deltoid muscle's activation, right carpi radialis muscle's activation had higher than left carpi radialis muscle's activation in back swing phase, knee angle had decreased and left triceps muscle's activation had higher than right triceps muscle's activation, right deltoid muscle's activation had higher than left deltoid muscle's activation, right carpi radialis muscle's activation had higher than left carpi radialis muscle's activation in down swing phase

  • Our country has excessive amount of learning per hour compared with Japan and Singapore. And as there is no consistence for definition of time between grades, it deteriorates understanding of students. Our country teaches students focusing on time algorism whereas Japan and Singapore teaches their students focusing on flow of time. In composing of mathematics textbook in Korea, Japan and Singapore, textbook of our country contains far more of learning compared with the amount designated in textbooks. Textbooks of Japan contains less teaching elements, but instead it contains much activities to expedite time sense As time is distributed in activities of students, it is more important to construct textbooks with experience of students rather than algorism approaches. In addition, textbooks of Singapore contains various examples and clarified concepts compared with those of our country. Like above, time teaching deployment methods of Japan and Singapore gives us good lessons for teaching time in our country, and it is expected be good reference for future development of our textbooks.

  • This study investigated the correlation between consumption of sugar intake by fifth grade students in primary schools and development of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A total of 107 students participated, and eight boys and one girl (8.4% of the total) categorized as high risk for ADHD according to diagnostic criteria. There were significant differences in the occupations and drinking habits of the respondents' fathers between the normal group and risk group. In a comparison of students' nutrition intake status with daily nutrition intake standards for Koreans, students consumed twice as much protein as the recommended level, whereas their calcium intake was only 60% of the recommended DRI (dietary reference intake). Regarding intake volume of vitamin C, the normal group posted 143.9% of the recommended DRI, whereas the risk group showed only 65.5% of the recommended DRI. In terms of simple sugar intake from snacks, students in the normal group consumed 58.4 g while the risk group consumed 50.2 g. These levels constituted 12.5% of their total daily volume of sugar intake from snacks, which is higher than the 10% standard recommended by the WHO. In conclusion, children who consumed less sugar from fruit snacks or whose vitamin C intake was less than RI was at increased risks for ADHD (P < 0.05). However, no significant association was observed between total volume of simple sugar intake from snacks and ADHD development.

  • Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA), a non-parametric productivity analysis tool, has become an accepted approach for assessing efficiency in a wide range of fields. Despite of its extensive applications and merits, some features of DEA remain bothersome. DEA offers no guideline about to which direction relatively inefficient DMUs improve since a reference set of an inefficient DMU, several efficient DMUs, hardly provides a stepwise path for improving the efficiency of the inefficient DMU. In this paper, we aim to show that DEA can be used to evaluate the efficiency of life insurance companies while overcoming its limitation with the aids of machine learning methods.
