Preparation of hydrogen membrane support: Effect of surface roughness on the hydrogen permeance (니켈파우더 제조방법에 따른 분리막 지지체 표면 및 연마 특성 연구)

  • 수소 에너지는 인류가 당면해 있는 대체에너지와 환경문제를 해결할 수 있는 방법 중 하나이며, 전 세계적으로 수소 제조/정제 기술에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 본 연구에서는 수소 제조/정제 분야 중 분리막에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 분리막 지지체로 는 SUS, Ceramic, Nikel 등의 소재들이 사용되고 있지만 본 연구에서는 수소취성이 강하고 제조원가가 낮으며 가공 성형하기 쉬운 Nikel을 사용하였다. 분리막 지지체는 Nikel Powder 전처리 과정을 통해 불순물을 제거하였으며, 몰드에서 가압 성형 후 기계적 강도 증가를 위해 고온에서 짧은 시간동안 소성 하였다. 분리막의 $H_2$ Flux 향상을 위한 방법으로 지지체 표면 조도 증가를 위해 polishing을 하였다. 표면 조도 특성은 polishing 조건에 따라 많은 차이점이 있기에, 다양한 조건에서 polishing한 분리막 지지체의 표면 조도를 SEM 분석을 통하여 지지체로서의 $H_2$ Flux향상에 어떠한 영향이 있는가를 알아보았다.

  • Slag and ash generally have a higher powder degree than portland cement, so workability may deteriorate under the same unit quantity condition, and strength and durability decrease when the unit quantity is increased. At this time, if an aggregate having a low water absorption and an appropriate particle size is used to recover the loss of strength, it can contribute to reducing the unit quantity of the binder. Therefore, for the purpose of improving the workability and strength of non-sintered cement mortar using slag and ash, ferro nikel slag whose particle size was adjusted was used as an aggregate and its applicability was identified. In this experimental condition, it was confirmed that non-sintered cement mortar tends to improve workability and secure strength when ferro nikel slag having various particle size distributions is used as an aggregate. This can be analyzed as the effect of ferro nikel slag material properties including glassy properties and mixing conditions with a wide particle size distribution.

  • The characteristion of composite electroless Nikel palting on the condition of adding 3kinds ceramic dispersives, Al2O3, Si3O4 and artificial diamond powder were studied. Decreasing solution temperature for composite plating was required to depress the spontaneous decomposition caused by dispersive including enlargement of reaction surface. The rate of composite plating was faster than that of general electroless-Nickel plating without dispersive. this increasing tendency of plating rate was remarkable for the active catalysis, like diamond powder.

Treatment of Nickel Ions in Water Phase Using Biochar Prepared from Liriodendron tulipifera L. (백합나무 유래 biochar를 이용한 수중에서 니켈 이온의 처리)

  • In this work, a new type of biosorbent was prepared from the biochar of Liriodendron tulipifera L. by adding an activation process using water vapor. By using the biosorbent, the removal characteristics of nikel ions in the water phase were investigated. When the equilibrium experiments to remove both 5 and 10 mg/L of nikel ions were performed, the adsorption amount of nickel ions was 4.2 and 5.4 mg/g, respectively. Also, the optimal initial pH was 6 to increase the removal efficiency with respect to two different nickel concentrations of 5 and 10 mg/L. To enhance the removal efficiency of 10 mg/L of nikel ions, a chemical treatment using critic acid was applied for the biosorbent. In addition, 100% removal efficiency was observed for 10 mg/L of nikel ions when the experiment was conducted for 2 h using the modified biosorbent treated by 4 M of critic acid. The results of desorption experiment to recover nikel ions indicated that 0.1 M of nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) was selected as the optimal desorption agent. Consequently, these experimental results could be employed as an economical and environmentally friendly technology for the development of nickel removal processes.

  • For the fuel saving in the fish farm, the heat transfer performances of various tubes, XL-tube, copper-tube, copper-Nikel-tube and Al-brass-tube, were compared. The XL-tube, which is most commonly used for heating water, showed the poorest heater transfer performance, while the Al-Brass tube shows the best performance. As far as average temperature difference of four tubes concerns, XL-tube is $3.34^{\circ}C$, Copper tube is $10.34^{\circ}C$, Copper-Nikel tube is $11.3^{\circ}C$, Al-Brass-tube is $12^{\circ}C$, The best heat transfer performance of Al-Brass tube results from the enhancement of heat transfer coefficient caused by fin effect and good conductivity of the material.

  • A palladium-nikel(Pd-Ni) alloy composite membrane has been fabricated on microporous nickel support formed with nickel powder. Plasma surface treatment process is introduced as pre-treatment process instead of HCI activation. Pd coating layer was prepared by dc magnetron sputtering deposition after $H_2$ plasma surface treatment. Palladium-nickel alloy composite layer had a fairly uniform and dense surface morphology. The membrane was characterized by permeation experiments with hydrogen and nitrogen gases at temperature of 773 K and pressure of 2.2psi. The hydrogen permeance was 6 ml/minㆍ$\textrm{cm}^2$ㆍatm and the selectivity was 120 for hydrogen/nitrogen($H_2$/$N_2$) mixing gases at 773 K.

Analysis and improvement measures of nitrification using industrial wastewater with high Nikel concentration (고농도 니켈을 함유한 산업하수의 질산화율 분석 및 개선 방안)

  • The heavy metal such as Nikel (Ni) in industrial wastewater is one of the major reasons of decreasing nitrification efficiency in municipal wastewater treatment plants (MWTPs). In this study, laboratory scale reactors were operated in order to analyse of nitrification efficiency and improvement measures. As a result, nitrification efficiency during high Ni concentration (0.295 mg/L) was about 20%. However nitrification efficiency during low Ni concentration (0.114 mg/L) was over 70%. The changes of the micro-organism activity according to Ni concentration was investigated as being the major reason behind the gap of nitrification efficiency through analysing AUR and SNR. Increasing the HRT in high Ni concentration also increased the nitrification efficiency. Thus, maintenance of microorganisms and increasing the HRT in nitrification reactors suggests that measures taken to treat wastewater is positively correlated with high concentration of heavy metal.

  • A development of smart materials is becoming a prominent issue on present industries. A smart material, included in functions, is needed for micro fabrication. A shape memory alloy(SMA) in a smart material is best known material. Ni-Ti alloy, composed of nikel and titanium is one of the best shape memory alloy(SMA). Nitinol SMA is used for a lot of high tech industry such as aero space, medical device, micro actuator, sensor system. However, Ni-Ti SMA is difficult to process to make a shape and fabrications as traditional machining process. Because nitinol SMA, that is contained nikel content more than titanium content, has similar physical characteristics of titanium. In this paper, the characteristics of ECM grooving process for nitinol SMA are investigated by experiments. The experiments in this study are progressed for power, gap distance and machining time. The characteristics are found each part. Fine shape in work piece can be found on conditions; current 6A, duty factor 50%, gap distance 15%, gap distance $15{\mu}m$, machining time 10min.
