Improved MPLS-MOB Scheme for Supporting Local and Global Mobility in NGN (차세대네트워크에서 로컬 및 글로벌 이동성 제공을 위한 향상된 MPLS-MOB 방안)

  • This paper proposes both global and local mobility management (MM) scheme improved from Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based Mobility Management scheme (MPLS-MOB) for seamless service in Next Generation Network (NGN). The proposed scheme adds local MM on the existing MPLS-MOB which supports global MM by processing handover signaling by 2.5 layer switching via Label Switch Path (LSP) of MPLS. We numerically analyze and verify that the proposed scheme has lower handover latency time than the existing ones, such as micro-MM methods using MPLS as well as MIP and an interworking scenario between PMIP and MIP.

  • The broadcasting & telecommunication services in the future will be converged and be serviced on mobile devices. However, the current ICT infrastructure does not fully meet the future demand for those converged, realistic, intelligent, and personalized services. The Korean government is going to establish a high speed next generation network called UBcN (Ultra-Broadband Convergence Network) by 2013. The Korean government has announced a multi-year plan to establish an UBcN network and to discover and stimulate new converged services for an UBcN in January, 2009. The author of this paper has taken part in formulating development plans since the early stages of planning. In this paper, Korea's development plans for the next generation network and their development strategies are analyzed and discussed based on the author's experience. The paper also discusses the expected impacts of the plan for the future ICT industry, and the implications of government-driven development plans.

  • 현재 네트워크는 유 무선이 통합되는 차세대 네트워크(NGN), 유비쿼터스 시대로 발전하고 있다. 현대인의 네트워크에 대한 의존도가 커질수록, 네트워크 취약점을 악용한 사이버상의 위협과 새로운 공격 유형이 급증하고 있다. 보다 안전하고 신뢰할 수 있는 네트워크 환경을 위해 다양한 보안 제품들이 등장하고 서로의 기능들을 통합하여 더 나은 보안 서비스를 제공하고자 노력하고 있으나, 기존의 대표적인 보안 제품들로는 그 한계가 있다. 따라서 네트워크 자체가 취약점과 공격을 받더라도 지속적으로 서비스를 제공할 수 있고, 빠른 보안 업데이트를 통해 네트워크 자체의 붕괴를 미연에 예방 가능한 새로운 네트워크 보안 구조가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 네트워크 발전 방향에 적합한 네트워크 보안 구조를 제안하고, 제안하는 구조에서 네트워크 보안 시나리오를 제시하여 검증한다.

  • 통신 방송간 융합, 음성 데이터의 통합 그리고 유 무선이 하나로 통합되는 NGN 환경에서 고부가가치 창출이 가능한 다양한 형태의 서비스 개발과 상용화 노력이 증가하고 있는 상황이다. 또한, 통신/서비스 사업자들은 인터넷 전화, 영상 전화, IPTV 등 신규 서비스 시장 개척을 위한 준비에 박차를 가하고 있다. 발전된 서비스 시장을 위한 노력은 국제 표준화 단체들의 기술 표준화 활동을 통해서도 진행되고 있다. NGN 멀티미디어 서비스(MoIP) 표준화는 ITU-T를 비롯한 ETSI TISPAN과 3GPP 중심으로 진행되어, 현재 다양한 서비스 기술 표준이 제정되어 있다. 본 고에서는 이들 국제 표준화 단체에서 진행중인 멀티미디어 서비스 표준화 동향을 살펴보고자 하며, 또한 국내에서 멀티미디어 서비스 활성화를 위해 추진중인 현황을 소개하고자 한다.

  • Bandwidth Trading(BT) represents a potential market with over 1 trillion USD across the world and high growth potential. BT is also likely to accelerate globalization of the telecommunications industry and massive restructuring driven by unbundling rush. However, systematic researches on BT remain at an infant stage. This study starts with structure analysis of the Internet industry, and discusses significance of Internet interconnection with respect to BT Issues. We also describe the bandwidth commoditization trends and review technical requirements for effective Internet interconnection with BT capability. Taking a step further, this study explores the possibility of improving efficiency of network providers and increasing user convenience by developing an architectural prototype of Hub-&-Spoke interconnection model required to facilitate BT. The BT market provides an Innovative base to ease rigidity of two-party contract and Increase service efficiency. However, as fair, efficient operation by third party is required, this research finally proposes an exchanging hub named NIBX(New Internet Business eXchange).

  • Communication network is in a transition toward the NGN (Next Generation Networks) to accommodate the explosive demand of new services. The NGN allows the third-party application provisioning by defining the networks as layers of Services, Distributed Processing Environment and Transport. Especially, the Service layer can further be divided into Application and Service Component layer. In order to realize the third-party application provisioning, the Parlay Group has adopted an open Parlay API as an interface between the Application and the Service Component layer. Using Parlay API, the third parties may develop and deploy the IT-based applications at the Application layer exploiting the service components located within network operators' domain. In this paper, we present the implementation details about the Third Party Call Control (TPCC) Service using the third-party service logic based on Parlay API and Parlay X API, when SIP is used as a signaling protocol in Transport layer. Also, we compare the performance evaluation of both implementations.

  • All IP,NGN(Next Generation Network)으로 대변되는 차세대 네트워크의 특징 중 하나는 이동성이며 노드의 이동뿐만 아니라 네트워크 전체가 이동하는 모바일 네트워크로 진화하고 있다. 차세대 네트워크의 하위 구조를 이루게 될 MANET에 IPv6를 적용하기 위해, 보다 확장성 있고, 유연하며. 빠르고 가벼운 IPv6의 자동 주소 지정 및 중복 주소 탐지에 관해 논의한다.

  • This paper deals with an improved method of utilizing end-to-end bandwidth in the All-IP environment. The proposed method includes compression of UDP/RTP headers, and multiplexing of the RTP stream packets over the end-to-and media transfer. Although the conventional method of using TCRTP(Tunneling Multiplexed Compressed RTP) is an efficient mettled of maximizing tile network throughput, it is inadequate for the All-IP based end-to-end communication. The method is a link-layer independent solution that can be easily implemented in the NGN(Next Generation Network).

  • For supporting seamless service in NGN, various schemes for mobility are studying in ITU-T, 3GPP, IETF, and so on. Currently, mobility support schemes such as MIPv6, IP2, Q.MMF, IMS was introduced. However the performance analysis and comparison of all existing schemes is not examined as yet. That is, the existing mobility methods need to be compared according to same performance parameter. So, in this paper, we investigate and compare the performances of MIPv6, IP2, Q.MMF on latency during location registration. The latency in location registration is consider as cost and time. Then, the performance analysis of Q.MMF Case1 has shown the best performance as it is measured the minimum cost and time. Q.MMF Case1 is the location registration process in case that MT moves within a local network. As LLM in a access network manages the location of MT in this case, Q.MMF Case1 has lower location cost and time than other cases.

  • In this paper, we present a next generation VoIP network architecture. Specifically, we present key components such as SoftSwitch and media gateway, and important protocols for VoIP services. We also present basic components and mechanisms for VoIP QoS. The architecture presented in this paper is able to support open interfaces and multimedia traffic, and therefore various multi-services can be supported efficiently using the architecture.
