  • The purpose of this study was to examine users' attitude toward likability, understanding level, reliability, satisfaction, and continuous usage intention depending on a difference in a type between card news and straight news. A questionnaire survey was conducted targeting 232 people. As a result of the research, compared to the straight news, the card news was easy for a user to understand, was strong even in a desire to use continuously. Second, a factor of users' attitude toward news was having influence upon the mutually positive(+) direction. Likability, understanding level and reliability had an effect on satisfaction. The satisfaction had an impact again on continuous usage intention. The intensity of this impact was varied, respectively, in card news and straight news. The influential level upon satisfaction in card news was strong in order of likability, understanding level and reliability. The influence in the straight news was strong in order of reliability, likability and understanding level. The outcome of this study will become empirical data in proceeding with seeking a method available for strengthening the function of offering information in news through increasing delivery and impact in information with producing news chosen by consumers.

Third, the moderating effect of the anchor attractiveness was found when news anchor's mention influences the viewers' attitude towards the broadcasting company : those who thought news anchor attractive showed less negative emotions and their news reliability and attitude towards the broadcasting company were higher compared to those who thought news anchor less attractive. Fourth, the moderating effect of the viewers' sex was found when news anchor's mention influences on viewers' negative emotions and the viewers' attitude towards the broadcasting company. This study has an academic and practical implication by studying the lasciviousness of news anchor's mention and anchor's attractiveness. This study is also a new approach of integrating the fields of journalism : News report and Anchor into the marketing fields : Attractiveness and Reliability. This can be meaningful for both journalism and marketing field.

Besides, it also explores factors affecting news sharing behavior. The study used the second data of Korea Press Foundation. Findings from surveys suggest that first, news sharers are younger and have higher education than not news sharers. Second, news sharers use less news through old media while more news through new media. Third, political orientation, portal, SNS and online video platform new usage, messenger news reliability have positive effects on news sharing, while age and portal news reliability have negative effects on it. Based on these findings, implication, limitations, and topics for future research are discussed.

  • This research aimed at studying the factors that influence new media exposure of political news by youths in Isan society in Thailand. The target group comprised 1,200 individuals, obtained from multi-stage sampling from undergraduate students in Isan's autonomous universities, governmental universities, and private institutions. The data collection tool was a questionnaire, the content of which was validated by experts. The reliability of the tool was tested by the formula for Cronbach's alpha coefficient, which yielded a reliability of 0.83. Multiple regression analysis was applied to analyze the data. The results, regarding factors influencing the channels for political news exposure, showed that channels for political news exposure were mostly influenced by inner drives, followed by importance in political news exposure, influence from social networks, and specific characteristics of the Internet. This could explain the variation of channels for political news exposure at 46.5%. In terms of factors influencing political news selection, it was found that political news selection was influenced mostly from social networks, followed by inner drives, benefits from political news exposure, specific characteristics of the Internet, and the field of study. The variation of the political news selection could be explained at 44.6%. These results elaborate on the current situation in Thailand, especially in Isan region, where youths in higher education are playing an increasing role in demonstrating their political stance through various political activities.

  • This work provides a reliable and classified stocks dataset merged with Saudi stock news. This dataset allows researchers to analyze and better understand the realities, impacts, and relationships between stock news and stock fluctuations. The data were collected from the Saudi stock market via the Corporate News (CN) and Historical Data Stocks (HDS) datasets. As their names suggest, CN contains news, and HDS provides information concerning how stock values change over time. Both datasets cover the period from 2011 to 2019, have 30,098 rows, and have 16 variables-four of which they share and 12 of which differ. Therefore, the combined dataset presented here includes 30,098 published news pieces and information about stock fluctuations across nine years. Stock news polarity has been interpreted in various ways by native Arabic speakers associated with the stock domain. Therefore, this polarity was categorized manually based on Arabic semantics. As the Saudi stock market massively contributes to the international economy, this dataset is essential for stock investors and analyzers. The dataset has been prepared for educational and scientific purposes, motivated by the scarcity of data describing the impact of Saudi stock news on stock activities. It will, therefore, be useful across many sectors, including stock market analytics, data mining, statistics, machine learning, and deep learning. The data evaluation is applied by testing the data distribution of the categories and the sentiment prediction-the data distribution over classes and sentiment prediction accuracy. The results show that the data distribution of the polarity over sectors is considered a balanced distribution. The NB model is developed to evaluate the data quality based on sentiment classification, proving the data reliability by achieving 68% accuracy. So, the data evaluation results ensure dataset reliability, readiness, and high quality for any usage.

  • News in the form of web data generates increasingly large amounts of information as unstructured text. The capability of understanding the meaning of news is limited to humans; thus, it causes information overload. This hinders the effective use of embedded knowledge in such texts. Therefore, Automatic Knowledge Extraction (AKE) has now become an integral part of Semantic web and Natural Language Processing (NLP). Although recent literature shows that AKE has progressed, the results are still behind the expectations. This study proposes a method to auto-extract surface knowledge from English news into a machine-interpretable semantic format (triple). The proposed technique was designed using the grammatical structure of the sentence, and 11 original rules were discovered. The initial experiment extracted triples from the Sri Lankan news corpus, of which 83.5% were meaningful. The experiment was extended to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) news dataset to prove its generic nature. This demonstrated a higher meaningful triple extraction rate of 92.6%. These results were validated using the inter-rater agreement method, which guaranteed the high reliability.
