The characters of this genus and species are here redescribed from Korean specimens. A key to species of Duplachionaspis from the East Palaearctic Region, photographs and information on the distribution and hosts of this species, are also provided.

  • Sea stars were collected with fishing nets between depths of 40-150 m from the Gangwon-do coastal region, East Sea. Specimens were identified as Evasterias echinosoma Fisher, 1926 belonging to the family Asteriidae, which is new to the Korean fauna. This species was characterized by strong external spines and a general size of more than 200 mm, thus the largest sea star identified in Korea to date. Its morphological characteristics are described here with photos. Thirty two asteroid species including E. echinosoma have been reported from the East Sea of Korea.

  • Adult chironomids were collected by various methods, such as light traps, sweeping on grasses, aspiration of light-attracted adults, and sweeping of swarming males with insect nets at various localities. All collected specimens were slide-mounted and identified. I report eight species new to science: Chironomus jangchungensis n. sp., Demicryptochironomus paracamptolabis n. sp., Demicryptochironomus wontongensis n. sp., Microtendipes paratamagouti n. sp., Polypedilum macrohemisphere n. sp., Eukiefferiella busanensis n. sp., Psectrocladius paratogaminimus n. sp., and Pseudosmittia seosania n. sp. I also report four species for the first time in Korea: Chironomus fujiprimus Sasa, Pentapedilum convexum Johannsen, Tanytarsus smolandicus Brundin, and Tanytarsus oyamai Sasa. All species are fully described with illustrations. This is the first report of the genera Eukiefferiella and Pseudosmittia in Korea.

  • A newly recorded aorid species, Paragrandidierella minima Ariyama, 2002, from Korean waters is reported with a description and illustrations, and its generic features are considered. This species is characterized by the carpochelate gnathopod 1 in matured male, the posterodistal protrusion on peduncle 5 of antenna 2, the absence of the apical spine on inner plate of maxilliped, the minute apical projection on inner lobe of lower lip, the acute posteroproximal extension on the basis of each pereopod 5 and 6, the shape of uropods and telson, and the large inter-ramal process of uropod 1. This is the first report of the genus Paragrandidierella from Korea.

  • Five species of Hypoglossum from the coasts of Korea were described. They were distinguished each other by vegetative morphology as well as reproductive structures. H. barbatum Okamura and H. simulans Wynne, Price et Ballantine were similar in their subalternate branchings but they were clearly different by developmental mode of 3rd-order cell rows. H. simulans is distinguished from H. barbatum as well as from the other three species in that only innermost cells of 2nd-order rows cut off 3rd-order cell rows. H. geminatum Okamura and H. caloglossoides Wynne et Kraft are oppositely branched but the latter is characterized by regular constrictions at branching points. H. minimum Yamada developed simple blades. Among them, H. simulans, H. caloglossoides, and H. minimum are newly recorded from Korean waters.

  • Two species of Apoglossum is newly recorded in Korea collected from subtidal habitats of Jeju Island. Apoglossum minimum Yamada has previously been known only from the coast of Japan. It is characterized by having corticated midrib but lacking microscopic veins. Apoglossum gregarium (Dawson) Wynne is reported for the first time from the north western coast of Pacific Ocean. It has been distinguished by its ecorticate midrib from the former species. Their morphological characteristics in detail and taxonomic issues are discussed.

  • Balssaxius habereri (Balss, 1903) has been newly reported in Korean waters. This species was previously known from the Pacific coast of northern Japan, Korea Strait, Yellow Sea, and Japanese coast of the East Sea. Specimens were collected from western Jeju Island using otter trawls at depths of 65-85 m. Regarding Korean axiid shrimps, a single species, Boasaxius princeps (Boas, 1880), previously known as Axiopsis princeps in Korea, has been recorded. B. habereri is easily distinguished from B. princeps as it does not have tufts of setae on its body and males do not have the first pleopod. Morphological descriptions and color photos of the specimens are provided.

  • A polynoid polychaete, Iphione muricata (Savigny, 1818), is newly recorded in Korean fauna. Genus Iphione was found for the first time in Korean waters. The specimen was collected in the Phyllospadix japonica bed by SCUBA diving. The species is described with figures and the key to subfamily was revised, Including this Iphione muricata, a total of 24 species representing 14 genera are known to the Korean polynoid polychaetes.
