  • In the present paper, seven marine algae collected from the coasts of Korea are described. The two blue-green algae, Coccochloris stagnina Sprengel and Entophysalis conferta (Kuetz.) Drouet and Daily, one brown alga, Ralfsia verrucosa(Aresch.) J. Ag., and the two red algae, Enelittosiphonia hakodatensis (Yendo) Segi and Symphyocladia pennata Okamura, are recorded newly in our country. The other two blue-green algae, Anacystis dimidiata (Kuetz.) Drouet and Daily and Phormidium tenue (Meneghini) Gomont, are recorded for the first time marine water in our country.

  • The section of Annulata under genus Hypoxylon is a member of the Xylariaceae which has ascomata with ostioles papillate ill a flattened disc. The isolates of Hypoxylon collected from the Tropic to the Temperate are compared with similar taxa and described. These isolations under Annulata section are illustrated with a light microscopy and a scanning electron microscopy. Hypoxylon archeri is newly recorded from Korea. A key to the species is also included.

  • A facile convenient syntheses of the titled compounds, via reacting the precusor 2-amino-2-(pentane-2, 4-dion-3-yithio)-6-phenylpyrimidine-5-carbonitrile (1) with nitrogen nucleophiles and with the carbanions of some active methylene compounds, is reported. Chemical and spectroscopic evidence of the newly syntheised compounds are described.

  • Despite many combined research efforts outstanding needs exist to develop robust safety-estimation methods for large complex structures. This paper presents a practical damage identification scheme which can be applied to truss structures using only limited modal responses. firstly a theory of pattern recognition (PR) is described. Secondly existing damage-detection algorithms are outlined and a newly-derived algorithms for truss structures. Finally the feasibility of the proposed scheme is evaluated using numerical examples of plane truss structures.

  • The distribution of Agrimonia gorovoii Rumjantsev in Korea is verified in this study. The species, described as from Primorsky Krai in Russia, was found in Chungcheongnam-do, Gangwon-do, Gyeonggi-do, and Jeollabuk-do provinces and in Incheon, South Korea. The species is characterized by ten stamens, deeply serrated leaflet margins, and long horizontal pilose stems. A Korean name, Gorovoi-jip-sin-na-mul, for the species is newly given, and a taxonomic description of the species and key to four Korea native Agrimonia taxa are presented.
