  • Economic crisis in 2008 has changed South Korean market including furniture related field. Owing to Subprime Mortgage Crisis, new economic order, in other words, New Normal was established. Low growth rate, low interest, high unemployment rate, high risks, regulation strengthening, and all that sort of negative things have became generalized. South Korean economy has developed drastically since the Korean War, however recent economic crisis and Internet and smart phone have leading roles in shaping new consumption market. In a way, furniture market has expanded despite economic recession. Total service for housing is suited to South Korean consumers and shortened Product Life Cycle induces consumers to buy more furniture. In addition, Internet and smart phone allow people to show off their private spaces to unspecified masses. As a result, consumer prefers inexpensive and expendable furniture. It is certain that furniture market makes quantitative growth, but qualitative sides are questionable. Even though the study is focused on the existent circumstances, It will help to find out the proper ways of future furniture market in South Korea.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to present the needs for New Health Technology in Korean medicine field and suggest the strategy to raise the application and selection rate. Methods: In this study, we reviewed the application status of New Health Technology application from April 27, 2007 to June 30, 2016. And we analyzed the assessment methods, procedures, and failure factors through the two Research stage technologies reports in Korean medicine field. Results: In Korean medicine field, the application status of New Health Technology is very small as 2% of the whole applications. Moreover, 62.9% of the applied technology were either an existing technology or an early technology, so did not enter the assessment process. Two technologies categorized as Research stage technology also had failed to adopt New Health Technology because they were lacking evidences or need more research to prove effectiveness. Conclusions: In order to develop New Health Technology in Korean medicine, more efforts should be made to activate research that can prove the safety and effectiveness of medical technology, and to create a quantitative or qualitative basis for the results of the research. Also, it is necessary to increase researchers' awareness of New Health Technology. And the strategy to positively utilize the "Limited Approval" to promote clinical studies.

  • Wind turbines should generally be installed at a certain distance from a road to ensure passengers' safety. In Korea, there is no clear guidance as the Ministry of Environment first proposed a road setback distance of 400 m in the Onshore Wind Farm Siting Guidelines draft proposed in July 2012, and then modified it to 1.5 times the height of the wind turbine in October of the same year. This study analyzed the dynamic range of onshore wind resource potential according to how the road setback distance is set using the Korea Wind Atlas with 100m spatial resolution made by the Korea Institute of Energy Research, the transportation network of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation, and the forest road network of the Korea Forestry Service. Owing to the geographical characteristics of Korea, where mountainous terrain accounts for 70% of the total territory, the wind resource potential within 1 km from forest roads are estimated to be 14.3 GW, 14% of Korea's total wind resource potential. In addition, the construction distance of new road for transporting wind turbines from the existing road to a wind farm site is estimated as less than 2 km. Given the limited wind resource potential and geographical constraints, an assessment system that can maximize wind resource utilization and ensure road safety at the same time, and which takes into account the regional characteristics instead of applying the fixed road setback distance across-the-road, is required.

  • A new marine sponges, Mycale (Carmia) ieoensis n. sp., of the family Mycalidae was collected SCUBA diving in June 2017 from Ieodo Ocean Research Station, Korea. M. (C.) ieoensis n. sp. is encrusting to irregular massive type, yellow in life. This new species is similar to M. nullarosette Hoshino, 1981 in color and growth form but it differs in spicule size and sigma shape. Spicule size of M. (C.) ieoensis n. sp. smaller than that M. nullarosette. Also, M. (C.) ieoensis n. sp. has two size toxa, but M. nullarosette is not. The new species are compared to other Mycale species from the Korean region, and similar species from elsewhere.

  • Recently, new variants of Ransomware are becoming a new security issue. Ransomware continues to evolve to avoid network of security solutions and extort users' information to demand Bitcoin using social engineering technique. Ransomware is damaging to users not only in Korea but also in all around the world. In this thesis, it will present research solution to prevent and cope from damage by new variants Ransomware, by studying on the types and damage cases of Ransomware that cause social problems. Ransomware which introduced in this paper, is the most issued malicious code in 2016, so it will evolve to a new and more powerful Ransomware which security officers cannot predict to gain profit. In this thesis, it proposes 4 methods to prevent the damage from the new variants of Ransomware to minimize the damage and infection from Ransomware. Most importantly, if user infected from Ransomware, it is very hard to recover. Thus, it is important that users understand the basic security rules and effort to prevent them from infection.

  • Eleven new species of two genera, Psammocinia and Ircinia (Demospongiae: Dictyoceratida: Irciniidae) are described from Gageo Island, Ulleung Island and Jeju Island, South Korea. The separation of these two genera was made on basis of morphological evidence, especially skeletal structure with foreign debris. Six new species of Psammocinia and five new species of Ircinia were added to known fauna. All skeletal fibres are very irregular.
