Cyber Social Interactions: Information Behavior in Between Social and Parasocial Interactions

  • Participants in real-time online sessions, be it (business) meetings, virtual school lessons, or social live streams, all engage in cyber social interactions. Unlike parasocial interactions, cyber social interactions are characterized by reciprocity and temporal proximity. In contrast to social interactions, they lack spatial proximity and bodily contact. This is a fairly new concept in information science that rose from technological advances and unprecedented circumstances (e.g., the rise of digital economy and knowledge workers being able to work remotely or, more recently, global lockdowns and contact restrictions). As a result, the past ways of working and socializing were transformed by making them, in some cases predominantly, virtual. Regarding the example of social live streaming we exhibit the importance of cyber social interactions for information behavior research. This conceptual article is a plea for information science to engage more in human-human online relations and interactions.

유교가 베트남에서 국가이념으로 성립되는 과정 (The Road to Confucianism as a State Ideology in Vietnam)

  • This paper traces the process how Confucianism was established as a state ideology in Vietnam. Confucianism is said to have first been introduced into Vietnam around the early 3rd century. However, it had been outshone by Buddhism until the 1389s when Ho Quy Ly rose to power and emphasized pre-Qin Confucianism. In 1428, Lê Loi founded a new dynasty and changed the state ideology from Buddhism to Confucianism. Despite this radical shift, however, Confucianism was not firmly established at the beginning of the Lê Dynasty. It was Lê Thanh Tong (1460-1497) who fully established neo-Confucianism as the state ideology. The reason was that he devoted himself to the study of Confucian texts from a young age and sought to strengthen his own royal authority by emphasizing the neo-Confucian concept of loyalty and filial piety.

  • In contemporary urban space, the identify is absent because of the object-oriented plans that ignore the context of urban space, and the ignorance of the regional characteristics and the historicity of places. Due to this reason, urban space lost its unique characteristics and becomes a mismatch with its surroundings. To solve these problems, the ideological trend of post-modernism emerged and new spatial paradigm rose based on the contextual concept to go with this trend. This contextual concept should be considered more importantly in the public space with discontinuous many and unspecified behavioral patterns. The components of space do not exist independently with individual identity. They should be considered based on a holistic view formed by the relations among elements and the establishment of those relations, and through this, correct identity can be established. Thus, this paper aims to analyze the context of spatial components through new contextual views on public spaces and study the expressional characteristics unveiled between these relations.

Seismic assessment and retrofitting of existing structure based on nonlinear static analysis

  • Seismic assessment and retrofitting of existing structure is a complicated work that typically requires more sophisticated analyses than performing a new design. Before the implementation of a Code for seismic design of buildings (GBJ 11-89), not enough attention has been paid on seismic performance of structures and a great part of the existing reinforced concrete structures built in China have been poorly designed according to the new version of the same code (GB 50011-2010). This paper presents a case study of seismic assessment of a non-seismically designed reinforced concrete building in China. The structural responses are evaluated using the nonlinear static procedure (the so-called pushover analysis), which requires its introduction within a process that allows the estimation of the demand, against which the capacity is then compared with. The capacity of all structural members can be determined following the design code. Based on the structural performance, suitable retrofitting strategies are selected and implemented to the existing system. The retrofitted structure is analyzed again to check the effectiveness of the rehabilitation. Different types of retrofitting strategy are discussed and classified according to their complexity and benefits. Finally, a proper intervention methodology is utilized to upgrade this typical low-rise non-ductile building.

Enhanced Production of Phaeodactylum tricornutum (Marine Diatoms) Cultured on a New Medium with Swine Wastewater Fermented by Soil Bacteria

  • There have been a number of studies of methods for recycling animal wastewater to provide new bioresources. In the present work, a marine algal culture medium, designated KEP II, was prepared by adding swine waste (3% v/v) fermented by soil bacteria to a dilution of f/2 culture medium (CT). When Phaeodactylum tricornutum was grown in batch culture in KEP II, the cells lasted long at the exponential phase producing the specific growth rate and biomass; the production of total amino acids and secondary metabolites rose up to 5-fold. It also substantially enhanced the maximum quantum yield of photo system (PS) II of P. tricornutum, greatly increased the level of thylakoid membranes containing PS, and stimulated the production of pyrenoids, including enzymes for $CO_2$ fixation in chloroplasts. KEP II should improve the cost efficiency of industrial mass batch cultures and the value of microalgae for long-term preservation of fresh aquaculture feed as well as production of anticancer and antioxidant agents. Specifically, a low-cost medium for growing the diatoms of aquaculture feed will be economically advantageous.

프랑스 주택 임대료 규제 및 관련 제도 연구 (House Rent Control System and Its Implementation in France)

  • Since year 2000, French housing and rent prices rose at a rapid rate and the housing market has been overheated. Face to this phenomena, the French government enacted a new law Alur which is a legislatif tool to control the private housing rent price for the cities, where the tension of the housing market is very high. This new law has impacted the housing market in two major ways. First, for the 38 cities designated by this law, the rent price's increase rate can not rise above the IRL, which is the rent reference index. Secondly, this law also permits local authorities to control the housing rent's price following the concrete price guidance. Especially in Paris, the city applicated this method for private rental housing since 2015. This city classified its own area by 14 zones. Based on the market surveys of each sector, local authority made a guidance for private housing rent's price. The guideline is consisted of average prices, maxima and minima price by types, which is classified by the construction year, number of rooms and furnished or not. Therefore, this study aims to understand french housing rent's price control system and draw implementation for korean housing rent policies. This research is meaningful for it introduces recent foreign regislations which could be helpful to control the housing market in Korea.

수소 수율 증가를 위한 합성가스의 수성가스전환 반응 연구 (Water Gas Shift Reaction Research of the Synthesis Gas for a Hydrogen Yield Increase)

  • Automobile Shredder Residue (ASR) is very appropriate in a gasification melting system. Gasification melting system, because of high reaction temperature over than $1,350^{\circ}C$, can reduce harmful materials. To use the gasification processes for hydrogen production, the high concentration of CO in syngas must be converted into hydrogen gas by using water gas shift reaction. In this study, the characteristics of shift reaction of the high temperature catalyst (KATALCO 71-5M) and the low temperature catalyst (KATALCO 83-3X) in the fixed - bed reactor has been determined by using simulation gas which is equal with the syngas composition of gasification melting process. The carbon monoxide composition has been decreased as the WGS reaction temperature has increased. And the occurrence quantity of the hydrogen and the carbon dioxide increased. When using the high temperature catalyst, the carbon monoxide conversion ratio ($1-CO_{out}/CO_{in}$) rose up to 95.8 from 55.6. Compared with average conversion ratio from the identical synthesis gas composition, the low temperature catalyst was better than the high temperature catalyst.

선명한 적색 대륜계 호접란 '화수 5205' 육성 (Breeding of Doritaenopsis 'Hwasu 5205' with Vivid Red and Large Flowers)

  • 호접란 신품종 '화수 5205'는 2002년 경북대에서 Phal. Happy Valentin과 Dtps. Happy Rose를 모부본으로 교배하여 육성한 $F_1$개체 중에서 육성하였다. 꽃은 선명하고 진한 적색의 대륜계이다. 2003-2004년 2년에 걸쳐 실생 300개체를 양성하여 이들 중에서 영양생장과 개화특성이 우수한 개체 02-05-205를 선발하였다. 2004년과 2005년에 1차, 2차 특성검정을 통하여 품종의 안정성과 균일성을 확인하고 '화수 5205'로 명명하였다. '화수 5205'는 화색이 선명하고 진한 적색(PN78B)이며, 화형은 안아피기로 안정되어 있다. 꽃의 길이와 폭은 각각 9.2, 12.0cm로 대형이다. 잎의 길이와 폭은 각각 24.3, 8.5cm이며 엽형은 수평이다. 기내증식율이 높고 변이가 거의 없으며 영양생장 우수하여 재배관리가 용이하다. 2009년 12월 1일 품종등록(등록번호 제2915호)하여 종자산업법에 의해 보호받고 있다.

흰가루병에 강한 흰색 장미 "Snow Day" 육성 (Breeding of White Rose "Snow Day" with Resistance to Powdery Mildew (Sphaerotheca pannosa var. rosae))

  • 2003년 화색과 잎의 광택이 우수하고 절화장이 길며 다수성인 품종 "Saphia"를 모계로 절화장이 길며 다수성이지만 잎이 약하고 흰가루병에 약한 품종인 "Bridal Beauty"를 인공교배 하여 얻은 실생계통 42주에 대하여 2004~2005년에 1차선발을 하여 1계통을 선발하였으며, 2006~2008까지 3차에 거쳐 특성검정을 실시한 후 최종 선발 된 '원교 D1-1008'을 2008년 농작물 직무육성 신품종 선정위원회를 거쳐 "Snow Day"로 명명하였다. "Snow Day"의 화색은 흰색으로 RHS 칼라챠트번호 155A로 나타나며, 흰가루병에 대하여 저항성인 특징을 가지고 있다. 꽃잎수는 29.2개이며 화폭은 11.3 cm로 "Tineke"보다 약간 컸다. 년간 절화수량은 10a당 152본이며 절화장은 81.8 cm 절화경경은 6.7 mm였고 절화수명은 13.7일 정도를 나타내었다.

오렌지색 절화용 스프레이 장미 '체리티' 육성 (Breeding of Spray Rose Cultivar, 'Cherry Tea' with Light Orange Color)

  • 2003년도에 오렌지색의 스프레이 'Pinocchio' 품종을 모본으로 다화성인 황색의 스프레이 'Flair' 품종을 부본으로 인공교배 하였다. 2004년부터 2005년까지 파종을 실시하여 177개체의 실생을 획득하여 이들을 대상으로 2006년부터 2008년 까지 3차에 거쳐 특성검정을 실시한 후 최종 특성검정 단계에서 기호도 조사를 실시한 결과 최종선발된 '원교 D1-506'을 2008년 농촌진흥청 농작물 직무육성 신품종 선정위원회를 거쳐 '체리티'로 명명하여 국립종자원에 품종보호 출원하여 2010년 6월 11일 품종등록되었다(등록번호: 3114). '체리티'의 화색은 밝은 오렌지색으로 RHS 칼라챠트번호 41A이며 화형은 반고심형의 화형이며 '리틀마블'에 비하여 약간의 향기를 가지고 있다. 꽃잎수는 34.0개로서 '리틀마블'의 24.3개보다 많았으며 화폭은 5.5 cm로 '리틀마블'보다 컸다. 평방미터당 년간 절화수량은 137본으로 '리틀마블'보다 많았으며 절화장은 68.8 cm 절화경경은 6.8 mm로 '리틀마블' 절화장 60.9 cm 절화경경은 6.3 mm로보다 길이가 길고 굵기는 비슷했다. 소화수는 '리틀마블'의 8.2개보다 많은 10.6개를 보여 우수한 스프레이 형태를 지닌 절화장미로 평가되었으며 절화수명은 12.4일로 '리틀마블'보다 길었다.
