  • We report on progress in developing high-power excimer lasers as well as UV-optics for creating low-temperature poly silicon (LTPS). A new high-power excimer laser offers 315 Watts with high pulse to pulse energy stability. Larger substrates can now be processed in better quality with either the SLS process or the new optics for line beam excimer laser annealing.

  • Development of a new code for magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) phenomena in fusion plasma is under progress through a collaboration between plasma physicists, mathematicians, and astrophysicists. The code employs approaches different from those of existing codes. For instance, it is based on a finite difference scheme of high-order and high accuracy, complying conservation laws. The new code will have characteristics distinguished from those of commonly used code such as M3D and NIMROD. Here we will report the progress of the code development.

  • We report three cases of children who underwent definitive conversion to the Fontan circulation using a new surgical technique, Extracardiac Epicardial Lateral Tunnel. This new procedure allows the operation to be performed as a totally extracardiac operation [especially in ventricular dysfunction] and allows it to be performed in a very small atrium and in cases with unsuitable pulmonary venous drainage. Our data suggest that this procedure may achieve satisfactory hemodynamics of the total cavopulmonary connection.

  • We report three new records Korean marine gastropods. The new record species are Hipponix acuta, Lyncina (Ponda) carneola, and Velutina (Velutella) plicatilis cryptospira. As a result, the family Hipponicidae in Korea turned out to be 5 species of 4 genera, Cypraeidae are 14 species of 8 genera, and Velutinidae are 7 species of 3 genera, respectively.

  • We report on a new type dc-dc converter design that combines the advantage of dc ripple noise elimination and high efficiency. As potential low cost solar cells, DSC module and the panel's system efficiency and stability are still critical problems to the way of marketing. In this study, a new three-step dc-dc converter scheme with the phase-shift-carrier technology is proposed to apply for solar power system. We have achieved power conversion efficiency around 94.88%.

  • New graph coloring problems are discussed as models of a multihop network in this report. We consider a total scheduling problem, and prove that this problem is NP-hard. We propose new scheduling models of a multi-hop network for CDMA system, and show the complexity results of the scheduling problems.

  • Central and regional government agencies collaborate to monitor and report on the quality of New Zealand's groundwater resources. Measurements from around 1,100 water wells representing the main economic aquifers are collected each season and used to prepare regional or national reports on its state, and trends over time. New Zealand's groundwater quality is of a relatively high standard by international standards, but is influenced by human activities and can also be affected by naturally occurring degrading processes.

  • Three empirical criteria of rock failure are analyzed in order to understand the meaning of coefficients. Transformation of equations is discussed to apply in the numerical analysis. New failure criterion for intact rocks is proposed in this study, which can be used directly in programming. New equation has the form of parabolic curve($\alpha$=0.5~1.0), and is based on Mohr's shear failure using data from triaxial tests. Its validity will be discussed in the next report.

  • As a result of continuous taxonomic investigations of Korean crabs, Pugettia intermedia Sakai, 1938 is newly reported from Korean waters. Pugettia intermedia had previously been reported in Korean fauna, but the previous reports of P. intermedia were resulted in misidentification of P. quadridens (De Haan, 1839). Pugettia intermedia differs from P. quadridens in having two subequal medial lobes of the first pleopod in male. In P. quadridens, one of the two medial lobes is about half-length of the other. Pugettia intermedia occurs on the southern coast of the Korean peninsula. The descriptions and illustrations of this species are provided herein.
