Influence of Temperature and pH on Adsorption of Ru(II) Dye from Aqueous Solution onto $TiO_2$ Films ($TiO_2$ 전극과 Ru(II) 염료와의 흡착에 있어서 온도 및 pH의 영향)

  • A $TiO_2$ films in dye-sensitized solar cells was fabricated using $TiO_2$ colloidal sol prepared from titanium iso-propoxide used as a starting material by applying the sol-gel method. It was characterized by particle size analyzer, XRD, FE-SEM, and BET analysis. The adsorption isotherms of dye molecule on $TiO_2$ films were obtained at three different temperatures (30, 45, $60^{\circ}C$) and at three different pH (3, 5, 7). The adsorption kinetics of dye molecule on $TiO_2$ films were obtained at three different temperatures (30, 45, $60^{\circ}C$. The adsorption experimental data were correlated with Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order model. Also the isosteric enthalpies of dye adsorption were calculated by the Clausius-Clapeyron equation. In addition, the adsorption energy distribution functions which describe heterogeneous characteristics of nanocrystalline $TiO_2$ film surface were calculated by using the generalized nonlinear regularization method. We found that efficient adsorption of N719 dye from aqueous solution onto $TiO_2$ films can be successfully achieved by dye adsorption conditions and morphology of $TiO_2$ films.

Artificial neural network calculations for a receding contact problem

  • This paper investigates the artificial neural network (ANN) to predict the dimensionless parameters for the maximum contact pressures and contact areas of a contact problem. Firstly, the problem is formulated and solved theoretically by using Theory of Elasticity and Integral Transform Technique. Secondly, the contact problem has been extended based on the ANN. The multilayer perceptron (MLP) with three-layer was used to calculate the contact distances. External load, distance between the two quarter planes, layer heights and material properties were created by giving examples of different values were used at the training and test stages of ANN. Program code was rewritten in C++. Different types of network structures were used in the training process. The accuracy of the trained neural networks for the case was tested using 173 new data which were generated via theoretical solutions so as to determine the best network model. As a result, minimum deviation value (difference between theoretical and C++ ANN results) of was obtained for the network model. Theoretical results were compared with artificial neural network results and well agreements between them were achieved.

A Study on the cutting forces prediction using machining theory in end milling (절삭이론을 이용한 엔드밀 가공에서의 절삭력 예측에 관한 연구)

  • A new approach for modelling and simulation of the cutting forces in end milling processes is presented. In this approach, the cutting forces in end milling are modelled based on a predictive machining theory, in which the machining characteristic factors are predicted from input data of fundamental workpiece material properties, tool geometry and cutting conditions. In the model, each tooth of a end milling cutter is divided into a number of slices along the cutter axis. The cutting action of each of the slices is modelled as an oblique cutting process. For the first slice of each tooth, it is modelled as oblique cutting with end cutting edge effect, whereas the cutting actions of other slices are modelled as oblique cutting without end cutting edge effect. The cutting forces in the oblique cutting processes are predicted using a predictive machining theory. The total cutting forces acting on the cutter is obtained as the sum of the forces at all the cutting slices of all the teeth. A Windows-based simulation system for the cutting forces in end milling is developed using the model. Experimental milling tests have been conducted to verify the simulation system.

  • Large displacement and rigidity about rubber component are expected by nonlinear and large deformation analysis in this study. Rubber is also used by the model of Mooney-Rivlin and the self contact between rubbers is established. There is the friction between rigid body and rubber, wall and floor. The nonlinear simulation analysis used in this study is expected to be widely applied in design, analysis and development of several rubber components which are used in automotive, railroad, and mechanical elements etc. By utilizing this method, time and cost can also be saved in developing new rubber product. The analysis of rubber components requires special material modeling and non-linear finite element analysis tools that are quite different from those used for metallic parts. The objective of this study is to analyze the rubber component with large deformation and non-linear properties.

  • In all the Rapid Prototyping (RP) techniques, the computer-aided design (CAD) model of a three-dimensional part is sliced into horizontal layers of uniform, but not necessarily constant, thickness in the building direction. Each cross- sectional layer is successively deposited and, at the same time, bonded onto the previous layer. The stacked layers form a physical part of the model. The objective of this study is to develop a software for automatic generation of unit shape part(USP) for a new RP process, Variable Lamination Manufacturing using the linear hotwire cutting technique and expandable polystyrene foam sheet as part material(VLM-S). In order to examine the applicability of the developed software to VLM-S, USPs of general three-dimensional shapes, such as an auto-shift lever knob and a pyramid shape were generated.

  • Conventional atom model must be criticized on the following four points.(1) natural motions between positive and negative entities are not circular motions but linear going and returning ones, for examples sexual motion, tidal motion, day and night etc.(2) Potential energy generation was neglected when electron changes its orbit from outer one to inner one. The hv is the kinetic energy of the photo-electron. The total energy difference between orbits comprises kinetic and potential energies. (4) Total energy conservation law applies to the energy flow between mind and matter because we daily experiences a interconnection between mind and body.New atomic model 9the crystallizing $\pi$-bonding) was proposed in the journal of material processing technology since 1997 for the explanation of the mechanical behaviors in terms of physics. $\prod$-ray physics proved that the electrons can come out from in the nucleus and modern chemistry corresponds to the $\pi$-bonding by the nuclear electrons. The $\pi$-bonding structure of the protons outside the nucleus is that electrons move between protons of the different atoms. The perception step and the characteristic frequency in signal transduction is due to the accumulation of the $\pi$-rays outside of the proton before their absorption to the nucleus.

Comparative Molecular Field Analyses (CoMFA) on the Mela-nogenesis Inhibitory Activities of Alkyl-3,4-dihydroxybenzoyl Derivatives.

  • To search and development a new material with superior melanogenesis inhibitory activity, the bioactivities (obs. pl$_{50}$) of alkyl-3,4-dihydroxybenzoyl esters and N-alkyl-3,4-dihydroxybenz-oyl amides as substrate molecules were measured in mouse melanoma cells. And also, we have studied that 3-D QSARs (3 dimensional Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships) between molecular interaction field of substrates and the bioactivities were analyzed using CoMFA (Comparative Molecular Field Analyses) method. When cross-validation value (q$^2$) is 0.68 at 3 components, the Pearson correlation coefficient ($r^2$) is 0.900. From the basis on the findings, the model was appeared by the contour map such as steric field and electrostatic field relationships between quantitative structure and the bioactivity of the various substrate derivatives. Measured bioactivities (obs. pl$_{50}$) of unknown compounds are very similar to predicted activity (pred. pl$_{50}$) according to the CoMFA model. As the results of prediction, we could conclude that the bioactivities were increased by creation of R$_1$ substitution of 5,5-dime-thylhexoxy, 6,6-dimethylheptyl, 1-amino-6,6-dimethylheptyl group etc and R$_2$ substitution of hydroxy, methyl, methoxy group etc.p etc.

  • Organizational growth is achieved through the process of finding opportunities in the environment and establishing a business model with internal and external resources. Bestian Hospital, which primarily focuses on saving the lives of patients with severe burns, has enlarged its business domain through deep understanding of burn patients' problems, including pain and complications during treatments, long-term treatments, skin reconstruction, and so on. Now Bestian is accelerating research for development of antipyretics and cosmetics for burn patients. The success of Bestian has been due to utilization of human and material resources that are essential to performance in the medical field. Also, Bestian properly used a management service organization(MSO) model and constructed an information technology(IT) system for supporting its businesses. However, previous successes do not guarantee continued success. Bestian is entering a new domain with different challenges than it has experienced so far, and how it deals with these challenges will decide its future.

The Role of the Ethylacetate Fraction from Hydnocarpi Semen in Acute Inflammation In Vitro Model

  • We previously reported that Hydnocarpi Semen (HS) has a wound healing effect on diabetic foot ulcer lesion in mice. In this study, ethylacetate (EtOAc) fraction from HS extract were evaluated for their wound healing activity by using in vitro acute inflammation model. GC and GC/MS analysis shows that the main constituents in EtOAc fraction are chaulmoogric acid, hydnocarpic acid, and gorlic acid. EtOAc fraction activated macrophages to increase the production of TNF-${\alpha}$. The fraction also increased the production of TGF-${\beta}$ and VEGF, which induced fibroblast activation and angiogenesis. These results suggest that the mechanism that the fraction helps to enhance healing of skin wound is possibly associated with the production of TNF-${\alpha}$, as well as secretion of VEGF, TGF-${\beta}$ and HS may have a new bioactive material for the treatment of skin wound.

THE MANAGEMENT OF A COMPLEX IMPLANT CASE USING CAD-CAM TECHNOLOGY: A CLINICAL REPORT

  • PURPOSE: The application of computer-aided technology to implant dentistry has created new opportunities for treatment planning, surgery and prosthodontic treatment, but the correct selection and combination of available methods may be challenging in times. Hence, the purpose of this case report is to present a combination of several computer-aided tools as approaches to manage complicated implant case. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A 47 year-old female patient with severe dental anxiety, high expectations, financial restrictions and poor compliance presented for a fixed rehabilitation. A CT scan with a radiographic template obtained with software (SimPlant, Materialize, Leuven, Belgium) was used for treatment planning. The surgical plan was created and converted into a stereolithographic model of the maxilla with bone-supported surgical templates (SurgiGuide, Materialise, Leuven, Belgium), that allowed for the precise placement of 7 implants in a severely resorbed edentulous maxilla. After successful osseointegration, an accurate scan model served as the basis for the fabrication of a one-piece milled titanium framework using the Procera (Nobel Biocare, Gothenburg, Sweden) technology. The final rehabilitation of the edentulous maxilla was rendered in the form of a screw-retained maxillary metal-reinforced resin-based complete prosthesis. RESULTS: Despite challenging circumstances, 7 implants could be placed without bone augmentation in a severely resorbed maxilla using the SimPlant software for pre-implant analysis and the SurgiGuide-system as the surgical template. The patient was successfully restored with a fixed full arch restoration, utilizing the Procera system for the fabrication of a milled titanium framework.
