  • Four new species of the genera Masirana Komatsu, 1942 and Longileptoneta n. gen. (Araneae, Leptonetidae) are described from Gyeongsangbuk-do and Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea, under the names Longileptoneta songniensis n. sp., Masirana bonghwaensis n. sp., M. ilweolensis n. sp., and M. flabelli n. sp. • The subfamily Pimplinae is one of the largest groups of the family Ichneumonidae, currently 1,737 species in 77 genera worldwide. In Korea, 120 species in 33 genera have been recorded. The South Korean species of the subfamily Pimplinae Wesmael, 1845 (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) are the focus of this study. Here, six species are newly added in the South Korean fauna: Aravenator kamijoi Momoi, Chablisea varicolor Liu, He & Chen, Clistopyga arctica Kusigemati, Liotryphon cydiae (Perkins), L. strobilellae (Linnaeus), and Zaglyptus semirufus marginatus Kasparyan. Of these new taxa, two genera (Aravenato and, Chablisea) belonging to the tribe Ephialtini are also newly recorded from South Korea. We present a key to species of South Korean Clistopyga, Liotryphon, and Zaglyptus, diagnosis, photographs, and distribution. As a result of this study, the Korean fauna of Pimplinae is now known to consist of 126 species in 35 genera. All Pimplinae specimens are kept in the collections of the Geolim Entomological Institute (GEI), Daegu, South Korea.

  • A total of 69 genera and 202 species of the family Syrphidae have been previously recognized in Korea. In the present study, we report the following 10 species new to Korea: Epistrophe aeka Kimura, 1989, Epistrophe aino (Matsumura, 1917), Epistrophe annulitarsis(Stackelberg, 1918), Epistrophe griseofasciata (Matsumura, 1918), Epistrophe sasayamana (Matsumura, 1918), Epistrophe shibakawae (Matsumura, 1917), Fagisyrphus cinctus (Fallén, 1817), Melangyna olsufjevi (Violovitsh, 1956), Melangyna pavlovskyi (Violovitsh, 1956), and Paragus clausseni Mutin, 1999. Among the four genera, the genus Fagisyrphus Dušek and Láska, 1967 is recognized for the first time in Korea. As a result, 70 genera and 212 species of the family Syrphidae are now officially recognized for the Korean fauna. For each newly recognized Korean species, we provide synonymy, diagnosis, and description with color photographs. In addition, we provide new Korean names for all newly recorded species as well as the genera Epistrophe, Fagisyrphus, and Melangyna, which previously did not have Korean names.

  • We report two new records Korean marine bivalves. The new record species are Siliqua albida (Adams & Reeve, 1850) and Macoma (Macoma) middendorffi Dall, 1884. As a result, the family Pharidae in Korea turned out to be 8 species of 4 genera and Tellinidae are 37 species of 15 genera.

  • Four cyclostomatous bryozoans from Korea belong to the genera Bicrisia, Nevianipora, Tubulipora and Crisia are described here for the first time. Of which, Bicrisia erecta Mawatari & Mawatari, 1973, Nevianopora pulcherrima (Kirkpatrick, 1890) and Tubulipora similis Liu in Liu, Yin & Ma, 2001 are newly added to the Korean bryozoan fauna, and Crisia spissus n. sp. is new to science. These species in this study are identified based on three features, which are its pseudopore, gonozooids and ooeciostomes. Two genera, Bicrisia and Nevianopora, are new to the Korean bryozoan fauna. As a result of this study, nine Korean cyclostomatous bryozoans in seven genera, five families are reported.

  • Three monophyletic branches are strongly supported in a phylogenetic analysis of the Teloschistaceae based on combined data sets of internal transcribed spacer and large subunit nrDNA and 12S small subunit mtDNA sequences. These are described as new monotypic genera: Jasonhuria S. Y. Kondr., L. Lőkös et S. -O. Oh, Loekoesia S. Y. Kondr., S. -O. Oh et J. -S. Hur and Olegblumia S. Y. Kondr., L. Lőkös et J. -S. Hur. Three new combinations for the type species of these genera are proposed.

  • The International Committee for Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV), which was formed over 30 years ago, aims to develop a single, universal taxonomic scheme for all viruses or, in other words, "the classification of viruses and the assignment of names to taxa". Plant Virus taxonomy is in charge of Plant Virus Subcommittee, a substructure of the ICTV. The ICTV has been most successfully pursuing that aim and its mammoth 'Seventh Report' records details of the names it has collated and approved, and of the classification, it has devised. The current 7th ICTV report published in 2000 contains plant viruses of 951 species in 79 genera in 17 families, though 24 of the 79 genera are floating genera, that is, they are not included in any established families. Proposed name of new or existing viruses are vote for the accepted taxonomic proposals by ICTV Executive Committee meeting. The approved results have been published as the ICTV reports providing standard names and taxa of viruses all over the world. A number of new plant viruses have been identified or reclassified in the genus or species level, and new genera and families have been proposed.(중략)

  • A taxonomic study on the genera Phyllognathopus and Harpacticella has been accomplished as one of the serial researches on the freshwater harpacticoids in South Korea. As a result, four species belonging to the genera are clarified, three of which are new to Korean fauna: P. viguieri (Maupas), P. paludosus Mrazek, and H. paradoxa (Brehm).
