If LED lighting is to be used in home networking, a home gateway and power line communication are needed in delivering data. In addition, an appropriate multiple access scheme reflecting LED's property is required. In this paper, a home networking system that can serve wide in-building area by integrating PLC and VLC, is proposed and implemented, then its performance is measured. A binary CDMA is used in the multiple access since this scheme is good for nonlinear device like LED, while infrared is used in the upstream transmission.

As to the recent advances in computer technologies and high-speed networks, telecommunication services and provision of multimedia services will be provided on the basic of a new software architecture adapting networking infrastructure on open information networking architecture. In this paper, the video conference services has been selected as a target service example because it is expected to become one of the most important services on the full service network. In fact, it can be viewed as the basis for providing telecommunication services such as video telephony and video conferencing. This paper presents the prototyping of TINA (Telecommunication Information Networking Architecture) based desktop video conference system using the concepts of session management. The prototyping of desktop video conference system aims at assessing TINA concepts and refinement of the mapping between session graph and connection graph, and provides object modeling methodologies towards distribution and objected-orientation.

In this paper, we propose a framework (named Multimedia Service Framework) that provides the development and operation of different kind of multimedia applications. This framework defines the architectures and its functionalities for supporting multimedia services, in 3 layers of: Application, Distributed Support System and Network. Firstly, we analyzed general characteristics of multimedia applications, and defined a set of horizontal and vertical services in the Application Architecture. Also, we determined functionalities and services required to support all application services in the Distributed Support System Architecture which must provide functions for the distribution transparencies, resource sharing, interoperability and portabiliy. Finally, in the Network Architecture we proposed the network infrastructure and services to increase the efficiency in resource management and processing capacity of network components such as router and switch, adopting the active networking approach.

Routing in mobile wireless sensor networks (MWSNs) is an extremely challenging issue due to the features of MWSNs. In this paper, we present a novel bio-inspired trusted routing protocol (B-iTRP) based on artificial immune system (AIS), ant colony optimization (ACO) and Physarum optimization (PO). For trust mechanism, B-iTRP monitors neighbors' behavior in real time and then assesses neighbors' trusts based on AIS. For routing strategy, each node proactively finds routes to the Sink based on ACO. When a backward ant is on the way to return source, it senses the energy residual and trust value of each node on the discovered route, and calculates the link trust and link energy of the route. Moreover, B-iTRP also assesses the availability of route based on PO to maintain the route table. Simulation results show how B-iTRP can achieve the effective performance compared to existing state-of-the-art algorithms.

With the explosive deployment of the wireless communications technology, the increased QoS requirement has sparked keen interest in network planning and optimization. As the major players in wireless network optimization, the BS's resource utilization and mobile user's QoS can be improved a lot by the load-balancing technology. In this paper, we propose a load-balancing strategy that uses Coordinated Multiple Points (CoMP) technology among the Base Stations (BS) to effectively extend network coverage and increase edge users signal quality. To use universally, different patterns of load-balancing based on CoMP are modeled and discussed. We define two QoS metrics to be guaranteed during CoMP load balancing: call blocking rate and efficient throughput. The closed-form expressions for these two QoS metrics are derived. The load-balancing capacity and QoS performances with different CoMP patterns are evaluated and analyzed in low-dense and high-dense traffic system. The numerical results present the reasonable CoMP load balancing pattern choice with guaranteed QoS in each system.

In order to achieve high capacity and reliable link quality of the overlay convergent networks with the cognitive networking based on the advanced capability of the mobile terminal, a Distributed Wireless Communication System (DWCS) can provide the capability of enhancing the link quality. This paper has considered virtual cell: the Dual Virtual Cell (DVC), and also proposes DVC employment strategy based on radio resource monitering. The considered system constructs DVC for multi-user high-rate data transmission, and the DWCS system exploits space-time trellis codes i.e., STTC to improve a spectral efficiency. The effects of imperfect CSI(channel state information) on the system performance has also been investigated.

This paper applies a prelaunch forecasting model to the Home-Networking (HN) market of South Korea. The HN market of Korea is categorized into two distinctive markets. One HN market consists of new apartments in which builders install HN and the other HN market consists of existing houses in which residents purchase HN Among these markets, this paper focuses on existing houses as capturing consumers' choice. To forecast sales of HN for existing houses, we use a conjoint model based on our survey data of consumer preferences. By incorporating various indicators of HN technologies into our conjoint model, we also forecast diffusion of HN system embodied in PLC or Wireless Lan. We call this model Choice-Based Diffusion Model. In addition, based on the simulation experiments, we also identify important factors that affect the demands of HN system.
