An application of LAPO: Optimal design of a stand alone hybrid system consisting of WTG/PV/diesel generator/battery

  • Given the recent surge of interest towards utilization of renewable distributed energy resources (DER), in particular in remote areas, this paper aims at designing an optimal hybrid system in order to supply loads of a village located in Esfarayen, North Khorasan, Iran. This paper illustrates the optimal design procedure of a standalone hybrid system which consists of Wind Turbine Generator (WTG), Photo Voltaic (PV), Diesel-generator, and Battery denoting as the Energy Storage System (ESS). The WTGs and PVs are considered as the main producers since the site's ambient conditions are suitable for such producers. Moreover, batteries are employed to smooth out the variable outputs of these renewable resources. To this end, whenever the available power generation is higher than the demanded amount, the excess energy will be stored in ESS to be injected into the system in the time of insufficient power generation. Since the standalone system is assumed to have no connection to the upstream network, it must be able to supply the loads without any load curtailment. In this regard, a Diesel-Generator can also be integrated to achieve zero loss of load. The optimal hybrid system design problem is a discrete optimization problem that is solved, here, by means of a recently-introduced meta-heuristic optimization algorithm known as Lightning Attachment Procedure Optimization (LAPO). The results are compared to those of some other methods and discussed in detail. The results also show that the total cost of the designed stand-alone system in 25 years is around 92M€ which is much less than the grid-connected system with the total cost of 205M€. In summary, the obtained simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the utilized optimization algorithm in finding the best results, and the designed hybrid system in serving the remote loads.

  • Based on the use cases of image recognition technology, this study looked at how artificial intelligence plays a role in image recognition technology. Through image recognition technology, satellite images can be analyzed with artificial intelligence to reveal the calculation of oil storage tanks in certain countries. And image recognition technology makes it possible for searching images or products similar to images taken or downloaded by users, as well as arranging fruit yields, or detecting plant diseases. Based on deep learning and neural network algorithms, we can recognize people's age, gender, and mood, confirming that image recognition technology is being applied in various industries. In this study, we can look at the use cases of domestic and overseas image recognition technology, as well as see which methods are being applied to the industry. In addition, through this study, the direction of future research was presented, focusing on various successful cases in which image recognition technology was implemented and applied in various industries. At the conclusion, it can be considered that the direction in which domestic image recognition technology should move forward in the future.

RDFS Rule based Parallel Reasoning Scheme for Large-Scale Streaming Sensor Data (대용량 스트리밍 센서데이터 환경에서 RDFS 규칙기반 병렬추론 기법)

  • Recently, large-scale streaming sensor data have emerged due to explosive supply of smart phones, diffusion of IoT and Cloud computing technology, and generalization of IoT devices. Also, researches on combination of semantic web technology are being actively pushed forward by increasing of requirements for creating new value of data through data sharing and mash-up in large-scale environments. However, we are faced with big issues due to large-scale and streaming data in the inference field for creating a new knowledge. For this reason, we propose the RDFS rule based parallel reasoning scheme to service by processing large-scale streaming sensor data with the semantic web technology. In the proposed scheme, we run in parallel each job of Rete network algorithm, the existing rule inference algorithm and sharing data using the HBase, a hadoop database, as a public storage. To achieve this, we implement our system and evaluate performance through the AWS data of the weather center as large-scale streaming sensor data.

An Implementation of Sound Enhanced MPEG-1 Audio Decoder on Embedded OS Platform (음질향상 알고리즘을 내장한 MPEG-1 오디오 디코더의 Embedded OS 플랫폼에의 구현)

  • In this paper, we implement a sound-enhanced MPEG-1 audio decoder on embedded OS Platform. Low bit rate lossy audio codecs such as MP3, OGG, and AAC for mitigating the problems in storage space and network bandwidth suffer a major common problem such as a loss of high frequency fidelity of audio signal. This high frequency loss will reproduce only a band-limited low-frequency part of audio in the standard CD-quality audio. In order to overcome this problem, we embedded a sound enhancement algorithm into the MPEG-1 audio decoder and then the algorithms optimized according to the characteristic of the MPEG-1 audio layer I, II, III were implemented on an embedded OS platform. From the experimental results with spectrum analysis and listening test, we confirm the superiority of the proposed system compared to the standard MPEG-1 audio decoder.

  • Data-centric storage schemes(DCS) are one of representative researches that efficiently store and manage sensor readings in sensor nodes in the sensor networks. In DCS, a sensor sends the sensed data to a specific node in order to store them. However, it has a problem that sensor nodes consume a lot of energy for transmitting their readings to remote sensor node. In this paper, we propose a novel sensor data compression algorithm to reduce communication costs. The proposed algorithm does not transmit all the sensed data and establishes a safe region. It transmits the sensed data only when current measurement is out of the safe region, As a result, the propposed algorithm extends network life time and reduces data transmission. It is shown through performance evaluation that our proposed algorithm reduces energy consumption by about 60% over the conventional algorithm.

  • 북한은 전력부족난과 전기품질의 저하로 인하여 주요 생산기업에 지장을 주고 있으며, 노후 발전소의 성능저하도 함께 진행되고 있는 것으로 추정된다. 이에 대한 적절한 대책이 없는 한 그 상황은 더욱 악화될 전망이다. 한반도 에너지 개발기구(KEDO)가 추진하고 있는 경수로 원자력 발전기가 6~7년 후에 준공된다고 해도 이처럼 불안정한 전력계통에 병입되어 원활한 운전이 가능할런지 기대하기 곤란하다. 이러한 실정에서 \circled1 전력부족으로 주파수가 저하될 때 우선 순위가 낮은 부하를 제한하는 자동 부하제한 방식을 포함한 자동 주파수 제어 계통개선 \circled2 기존발전소 성능과 이용을 향상을 위한 재가동(Repowering) 등의 리 엔지니어링 \circled3 가스터빈 복합화력과 열병합발전(Co-generation) 등과 같이 건설기간이 짧고 비용이 적게 들며 송전 설비 건설도 불필요한 분산형 전원의 건설 \circled4 수력발전소와 조력발전소의 건설 \circled5 양수발전 등 전력에너지 저장설비의 개발 \circled6 송전전압격상과 배전방식개선 및 종합전력정보시스템 구축 \circled7 남ㆍ북한 전력계통 내지는 동북아시아 전력계통을 연계하는 평화망사업(Peace Network Project)등의 추진이 경수로 사업에 선행되어야 한다. 특히 러시아, 중국, 한국, 일본의 발전 에너지원 분포와 년간 부하곡선을 고려할 때 동북아시아 전력계통의 연계는 관련국 상호간에 에너지 환경과 경제적 측면에서 상당한 이득과 안정성을 강화해 줄 것이며, 기술발전과 평화공존에 크게 기여 할 것이다. 이를 위하여 관련국의 전력계통연계 전문가들이 참여하는 남\ulcorner북한전력 계통연계연합회(Co-Pia ; Co-rea Power Systems Interconnection Association)와 동북아지역전력 계통연합회(Near Pia=North-Eastern Asia Region Power Systems Interconnection Association)의 구성을 제안하는 바이다. 주요용어(Key Words): 자동주파수 제어(AFC), 리엔지니어링(Re-Engineering), 분산형 전원(Dispersed Generation System), 전력저장(Power Storage), 부하조절기(Load Conditioner), 수요관리(DSM) 연계(Interconnection), 인터시스템(Intersystem), 통합자원계획(IRP), 안전성 강화(Security Enhancement), 전력시장개방(Electricity Free Maket), 통일비용(Unification Expense, Unification Cost), 남ㆍ북한전력계통연계연합회(Co-Pia), 동북아지역전력 계통연계연합회(Nea,-Pia).

  • There were the attempts to prevent the spread of harmful materials of the agri-food through the record tracking of the products with the bar code, the partial information tracking of the agri-food storage and the delivery vehicle, or the control of the temperature by intuition. However, there were many problems in the attempts because of the insufficient information, the information distortion and the independent information network of each distribution company. As a result, it is difficult to prevent the spread over the life-cycle of the agri-food using the attempts. To solve the problems, we propose the mechanism mainly to do context awareness, predict, and track the harmful materials of agri-food using big data processing.

Efficient Processing of Multidimensional Sensor stream Data in Digital Marine Vessel (디지털 선박 내 다차원 센서 스트림 데이터의 효율적인 처리)

  • It is necessary to accurate and efficient management for measured digital data from various sensors in digital marine vessel. It is not efficient that sensor network process input stream data of mass storage stored in database the same time. In this paper, We propose to improve the processing performance of multidimensional stream data continuous incoming from multiple sensor. We propose that we arrange some sensors (temperature, humidity, lighting, voice) and process query based on sliding window for efficient input stream and found multiple query plan to Mjoin method and we reduce stored data using SVM algorithm. We automatically delete that it isn't necessary to the data from the database and we used to ship diagnosis system for available data. As a result, we obtained to efficient result about 18.3% reduction rate of database using 35,912 data sets.

Security Enhancement to an Biometric Authentication Protocol for WSN Environment (WSN 환경에서 Biometric 정보를 이용한 안전한 사용자 인증 스킴의 설계)

  • Over recent years there has been considerable growth in interest in the use of biometric systems for personal authentication. Biometrics is a field of technology which has been and is being used in the identification of individuals based on some physical attribute. By using biometrics, authentication is directly linked to the person, rather than their token or password. Biometric authentication is a type of system that relies on the unique biological characteristics of individuals to verify identity for secure access to electronic systems. In 2013, Althobati et al. proposed an efficient remote user authentication protocol using biometric information. However, we uncovered Althobati et al.'s protocol does not guarantee its main security goal of mutual authentication. We showed this by mounting threat of data integrity and bypassing the gateway node attack on Althobati et al.'s protocol. In this paper, we propose an improved scheme to overcome these security weaknesses by storing secret data in device. In addition, our proposed scheme should provide not only security, but also efficiency since sensors in WSN(Wireless Sensor Networks) operate with resource constraints such as limited power, computation, and storage space.

  • Informations of multimedia centering in the images, are combined acoustic and letter, etc. Although the network advances and the capacity of the storage media extends, these huge informations will not be able to accommodate. From meaning which is like this, International standards for the compression and a multiplexing of image, acoustic and voice H261 where admits standard, JPEG, JBIG, MPEG-l, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H263, G series etc, are core techniques of multimedia. At initial step of the base technique which creates the base of like this multimedia service time, we developed the real-time MPEG-4 transmission systems to provides real-time MPEG-4 multimedia services. This system means becomes the base technique which hereafter is developed and is applied various system. This system Will be able to apply from a videoconference, a building protection system and a VOD video system to use the Internet. And, They, the image sensing, embedded linux, and MPEG4 software, will become sourceful technique to develop the different system.
