  • This paper suggest an optimal identification method to complex and nonlinear system modeling that is based on Fuzzy-Neural Network(FNN). The FNN modeling implements parameter identification using HCM algorithm and optimal identification algorithm structure combined with two types of optimization theories for nonlinear systems, we use a HCM Clustering Algorithm to find initial parameters of membership function. The parameters such as parameters of membership functions, learning rates and momentum coefficients are adjusted using optimal identification algorithm. The proposed optimal identification algorithm is carried out using both a genetic algorithm and the improved complex method. Also, an aggregate objective function(performance index) with weighted value is proposed to achieve a sound balance between approximation and generalization abilities of the model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model, we use the time series data for gas furnace, the data of sewage treatment process and traffic route choice process.

  • The cogging torque in the small BLDC motors used in the DVD driving system or HDD driving system can cause some serious vibration problem. In this paper, some core shapes that reduce cogging torque are found by using reluctance network method(RNM) for magnetic field analysis and genetic algorithm(GA) for optimization. The outer rotor type BLDC motor for the DVD ROM driving system has been optimized as an sample model.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to design a regional electricity planning model rather than the existing single region ones and verify its usefulness. The regional electricity planning model is to determine both electricity distribution among regions and power plant planning at the same time satisfying regional demands and distribution networks. Design/methodology/approach This study made a regional electricity planning model by integrating power plant planning and electricity distribution among regions. The regional electricity planning model is formulated into a linear programming problem, and coded and run using the OSeMOSYS, one of open source energy systems. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, this study confirmed that the regional electricity planning model proposed in this study deducts the unfairness among regions in view of electricity and green house gas. In addition, the model is expected to be used in evaluating and developing the national policies concerning fine dust and/or green house gas.

  • The performance of machine learning algorithms significantly depends on how a configuration of hyperparameters is identified and how a neural network architecture is designed. However, this requires expert knowledge of relevant task domains and a prohibitive computation time. To optimize these two processes using minimal effort, many studies have investigated automated machine learning in recent years. This paper reviews the conventional random, grid, and Bayesian methods for hyperparameter optimization (HPO) and addresses its recent approaches, which speeds up the identification of the best set of hyperparameters. We further investigate existing neural architecture search (NAS) techniques based on evolutionary algorithms, reinforcement learning, and gradient derivatives and analyze their theoretical characteristics and performance results. Moreover, future research directions and challenges in HPO and NAS are described.

  • The business of Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is growing rapidly, and the large amount of data exchange has caused problems of large mobile network communication delay and large energy loss. A strategy for resource allocation of IoV communication based on mobile edge computing (MEC) is thus proposed. First, a model of the cloud-side collaborative cache and resource allocation system for the IoV is designed. Vehicles can offload tasks to MEC servers or neighboring vehicles for communication. Then, the communication model and the calculation model of IoV system are comprehensively analyzed. The optimization objective of minimizing delay and energy consumption is constructed. Finally, the on-board computing task is coded, and the optimization problem is transformed into a knapsack problem. The optimal resource allocation strategy is obtained through genetic algorithm. The simulation results based on the MATLAB platform show that: The proposed strategy offloads tasks to the MEC server or neighboring vehicles, making full use of system resources. In different situations, the energy consumption does not exceed 300 J and 180 J, with an average delay of 210 ms, effectively reducing system overhead and improving response speed.

  • This paper presents a GA-based optimal algorithm for a resource leveling model that levels the resources of a set of non-critical activities experiencing conflicts simultaneously up to an assumed level of resource rates specified by the planner using a pair-wise comparison of the activities being considered. A parameter called the future float is adopted and applied as an indicator for assigning leveling priorities to the sets of activities experiencing conflicts. A construction project network example was worked out to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method. The histogram obtained using the algorithm proposed was shown to be the same as, or very close to that produced by the existing resource leveling method based on the least total float rule, which shifts non-critical activities individually.

  • The existence of abnormal breakpoint data leads to poor channel balance in wireless sensor networks (WSN). To enhance the communication quality of WSNs, a method for positioning abnormal breakpoint data in WSNs on the basis of signal reconstruction is studied. The WSN signal is collected using compressed sensing theory; the common part of the associated data set is mined by exchanging common information among the cluster head nodes, and the independent parts are updated within each cluster head node. To solve the non-convergence problem in the distributed computing, the approximate term is introduced into the optimization objective function to make the sub-optimization problem strictly convex. And the decompressed sensing signal reconstruction problem is addressed by the alternating direction multiplier method to realize the distributed signal reconstruction of WSNs. Based on the reconstructed WSN signal, the abnormal breakpoint data is located according to the characteristic information of the cross-power spectrum. The proposed method can accurately acquire and reconstruct the signal, reduce the bit error rate during signal transmission, and enhance the communication quality of the experimental object.

  • This study designed a model-based Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) software for electric vehicles. Electric vehicles have transitioned from conventional powertrains (e.g., engines and transmissions) to electric powertrains. The primary role of the VCU is to determine the optimal torque for driving control. This decision is based on the driver's power request and current road conditions. The determined torque is then transmitted to the electric drive system, which includes motors and controllers. The VCU employs an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and calibrated reference torque to enhance the electric vehicle's performance. The designed VCU software further refines the final reference torque by comparing the control logic with the torque calculation functions and ANN-generated reference torque. Vehicle tests confirmed the effective optimization of vehicle performance using the model-based VCU software, which includes an ANN.

  • This paper investigates the application of multi-agent deep reinforcement learning in the fighting game Samurai Shodown using Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) and Advantage Actor-Critic (A2C) algorithms. Initially, agents are trained separately for 200,000 timesteps using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) with LSTM networks. PPO demonstrates superior performance early on with stable policy updates, while A2C shows better adaptation and higher rewards over extended training periods, culminating in A2C outperforming PPO after 1,000,000 timesteps. These findings highlight PPO's effectiveness for short-term training and A2C's advantages in long-term learning scenarios, emphasizing the importance of algorithm selection based on training duration and task complexity. • In this paper, we explore the application of Kodaly hand signs in enhancing children's music education, performances, and auditory assistance technologies. This research focuses on improving the recognition rate of Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) models in identifying Kodaly hand sign scales through the integration of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). We developed an enhanced MLP model by augmenting it with additional parameters and optimizing the number of hidden layers, aiming to substantially increase the model's accuracy and efficiency. The augmented model demonstrated a significant improvement in recognizing complex hand sign sequences, achieving a higher accuracy compared to previous methods. These advancements suggest that our approach can greatly benefit music education and the development of auditory assistance technologies by providing more reliable and precise recognition of Kodaly hand signs. This study confirms the potential of parameter augmentation and hidden layers optimization in refining the capabilities of neural network models for practical applications.
