  • To support the telematics and infotainment services, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication requires a robust and reliable network. To do this, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has recently developed V2X communication. For reliable communication, accurate channel estimation should be done. However, because vehicle speed is very fast, radio channel is rapidly changed with time. Therefore, it is difficult to accurately estimate the channel. In this paper, we propose the new linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) channel interpolation scheme based on the Long Term Evolution (LTE) sidelink system in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) environments. In our proposed reduced decision error (RDE) channel estimation scheme, LMMSE channel estimation is applied in the pilot symbol, and then in the data symbol, smoothing and LMMSE channel interpolation scheme is applied. After that, time and frequency domain averaging are applied to obtain the whole channel frequency response. In addition, the LMMSE equalizer of the receiver side can reduce the error propagation due to the decision error. Therefore, it is possible to detect the reliable data. Analysis and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms currently conventional schemes in normalized mean square error (NMSE) and bit error rate (BER).

  • In this paper, a method of shape prediction of an endoscope handling robot that can imitate a surgeon's behavior using a sensor network is suggested. Unit sensors, which are composed of a 3-axis magnetometer and 3-axis accelerometer pair comprise the network through CAN bus communication. Each unit of the sensor is used to detect the angle of the points in the longitudinal direction of the robot, which is made from a flexible tube. The signals received from the sensor network were filtered using a low pass Butterworth filter. Here, a Butterworth filter was designed for noise removal. Finally, the Euler angles were extracted from the signals, in which the noise was filtered by the low path Butterworth filter. Using this Euler angle, the position of each sensor on the sensor network is estimated. The robot body was assumed to consist of links and joints. The position of each sensor can be assumed to be attached to the center of each link. The position of each link was determined using the Euler angle and kinematics equation. The interpolation was carried out between the positions of the sensors to be able to connect each point smoothly and obtain the final posture of the endoscope in operation. The experimental results showed that the shape of the colonoscope can be visualized using the Euler angles evaluated from the sensor network suggested and the shape of serial link estimated from the kinematics chain model.

  • Recently, the use of digital audio and video as proof in criminal and all kinds of litigation is increasing, and scientific investigation using digital forensic technique is developing. With the development of computing and file editing technologies, anyone can simply manipulate video files, and the number of cases of manipulating digital data is increasing. As a result, the integrity of the evidence and the reliability of the evidence Is required. In this paper, we propose a technique for extracting the Electrical Network Frequency (ENF) through a grid of power grids according to the geographical environment for power supply, and then performing signal processing for peak detection using QIFFT. Through the detection algorithm using the standard deviation, it was confirmed that the video file was falsified with 73% accuracy and the forgery point was found.

  • It is likely that the spatial structure of the intraurban accessibility as well as the accessibility value of each of the nodes in the subway network is affected by the addition of new linkages. The changes in the accessibility at individual nodes also affect the accessibility in the surrounding areas at some distances away from the nodes. Graph-theoretic algorithms have been developed as a proper measurement scheme for the nodal accessibility in tracked transport networks such as subway networks. However, the graph-theoretic measurements have limitations to estimate the spatial diffusion effect on the surrounding areas. This study proposes a new model for the spatial diffusion effect estimation of nodal accessibility increment in the subway network toward the surrounding areas. Since the distance decay trend of subway station use reflect the spatial diffusion effect of the accessibility of subway station toward the surrounding area. The model is deduced from the subway station use density function which is formulated by the questionnaire survey data.

  • A bead is intended to reach a specified target point in the minimum-time when it travels along a certain curve on a vertical plane with the gravity. This is called the brachistochrone problem. Its minimum-time control input may be found using the calculus of variation. However, the accuracy of its minimum-time control input is not high since the solution of the control input is based on a table form of inverse relations for some complicated nonlinear equations. To enhance the accuracy, this paper employs the neural network to represent the inverse relation of the complicated nonlinear equations. The accurate minimum-time control is possible with the interpolation property of the neural network. For various final target points, we have found that the proposed method is superior to the conventional ones through the computer simulations.

  • A ship is intended to reach a specified target point in the minimum-time when it travels with a constant speed through a region of strong currents and its heading angle is the control variable. This is called the Zermelo's navigation problem. Its approximate solution for the minimum-time control may be found using the calculus of variation. However, the accuracy of its approximate solution is not high since the solution is based on a table form of inverse relations for some complicated nonlinear equations. • Artificial neural network (ANN) simulation is used to predict the dynamic change of permeate flux during wheat starch industry wastewater microfiltration with and without static turbulence promoter. The experimental program spans range of a sedimentation times from 2 to 4 h, for feed flow rates 50 to 150 L/h, at transmembrane pressures covering the range of $1{\times}10^5$ to $3{\times}10^5Pa$. ANN predictions of the wastewater microfiltration are compared with experimental results obtained using two different set of microfiltration experiments, with and without static turbulence promoter. The effects of the training algorithm, neural network architectures on the ANN performance are discussed. For the most of the cases considered, the ANN proved to be an adequate interpolation tool, where an excellent prediction was obtained using automated Bayesian regularization as training algorithm. The optimal ANN architecture was determined as 4-10-1 with hyperbolic tangent sigmoid transfer function transfer function for hidden and output layers. The error distributions of data revealed that experimental results are in very good agreement with computed ones with only 2% data points had absolute relative error greater than 20% for the microfiltration without static turbulence promoter whereas for the microfiltration with static turbulence promoter it was 1%. The contribution of filtration time variable to flux values provided by ANNs was determined in an important level at the range of 52-66% due to increased membrane fouling by the time. In the case of microfiltration with static turbulence promoter, relative importance of transmembrane pressure and feed flow rate increased for about 30%.

  • Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers are intrinsically vulnerable to radio frequency jamming signals due to the fundamental property of radio navigation systems. A GNSS jamming monitoring system that is capable of jamming detection, classification and localization is essential for infrastructure for autonomous driving systems. For these 3 functionalities, a GNSS jamming monitoring network consisting of a multiple of low-cost GNSS receivers distributed in a certain area is needed, and the precise time synchronizaion between multiple independent GNSS receivers in the network is an essential element. This paper presents a precise time synchronization method based on the direct use of Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) technique in signal domain. A block interpolation method is additionally incorporated into the method in order to maintain the precision of time synchronization even with the relatively low sampling rate of the received signals for computational efficiency. The feasibility of the proposed approach is verified in the numerical simualtions.

  • To develop an efficient procedure related to the flamelet library, the machine learning process based on artificial neural network(ANN) is applied for the gaseous hydrogen/liquid oxygen combustor under a supercritical pressure condition. For hidden layers, 25 combinations based on Rectified Linear Unit(ReLU) and hyperbolic tangent are adopted to find an optimum architecture in terms of the computational efficiency and the training performance. For activation functions, the hyperbolic tangent is proper to get the high learning performance for accurate properties. A transformation learning data is proposed to improve the training performance. When the optimal node is arranged for the 4 hidden layers, it is found to be the most efficient in terms of training performance and computational cost. Compared to the interpolation procedure, the ANN procedure reduces computational time and system memory by 37% and 99.98%, respectively.
