  • The reduction of efficiency of missing observations on complete diallel cross designs are examined. we studies robustness of optimal block designs for estimating general combining ability against loss of missing observations in diallel cross. A-efficiencies suggest that these designs are fairly robust. Simple g-inverses may be found for the information matrices of the line effects which allow evaluation of expressions for the variances of the differences between the pairs of line effects with missing observations. we numerically calculate the reduction of efficiency for estimating general combining ability against loss of missing observations in diallel cross.

  • It is not easy to select a linear mixed model since the main interest for model building could be different and the number of parameters in the model could not be clearly defined. In this paper, performance of conditional Akaike Information Criteria and its bias-corrected version are compared with marginal Bayesian and Akaike Information Criteria through a simulation study. The results from the simulation study indicate that bias-corrected conditional Akaike Information Criteria shows promising performance when candidate models exclude large models containing the true model, but bias-corrected one prefers over-parametrized models more intensively when a set of candidate models increases. Marginal Bayesian and Akaike Information Criteria also have some difficulty to select the true model when the design for random effects is nested.

  • In the last decade, the best estimate plus uncertainty methodologies in nuclear technology and nuclear power plant design have become a trending topic in the nuclear field. Since BEPU was allowed for licensing purposes by the most important regulator bodies, different uncertainty assessment methods have become popular, overall non-parametric methods. While non-parametric tolerance regions can be well stated and used in uncertainty quantification for licensing purposes, the propagation of the uncertainty through different codes (multi-scale, multiphysics) in cascade needs a better depiction of uncertainty than the one provided by the tolerance regions or a probability distribution. An alternative method based on the parametric or distributional probability boxes is used to perform uncertainty quantification and propagation regarding statistic uncertainty from one code to another. This method is sample-size independent and allows well-defined tolerance intervals for uncertainty quantification, manageable for uncertainty propagation. This work characterizes the distributional p-boxes behavior on uncertainty quantification and uncertainty propagation through nested random sampling.

  • Regular expression pattern matching is widely used in applications such as computer virus vaccine, NIDS and DNA sequencing analysis. Hardware-based pattern matching is used when high-performance processing is required due to time constraints. ReCPU, SMPU, and REMP, which are processor-based regular expression matching processors, have been proposed to solve the problem of the hardware-based method that requires resynthesis whenever a pattern is updated. However, these processor-based regular expression matching processors inefficiently handle repetitive operations of regular expressions. In this paper, we propose a new instruction set to improve the inefficient repetitive operations of ReCPU and SMPU. We propose REMPi, a regular expression matching processor that enables efficient iterative operations based on the REMP instruction set. REMPi improves the inefficient method of processing a particularly short sub-pattern as a repeat operation OR, and enables processing with a single instruction. In addition, by using a down counter and a counter stack, nested iterative operations are also efficiently processed. REMPi was described with Verilog and synthesized on Intel Stratix IV FPGA.

  • This study presents the development of an advanced multiple database-enabled design module for high-rise buildings (DEDM-HR), which seamlessly pools databases of multiple high frequency base balance measurements from geographically dispersed locations and merges them together to expand the number of available building configurations for the preliminary design. This feature offers a new direction for the research and professional communities that can be utilized to efficiently pool multiple databases therefore expanding the capability of an individual database and improving the reliability of design estimates. This is demonstrated, in this study, by the unprecedented fusion of two major established databases, which facilitates interoperability. The DEDM-HR employs a cyberbased on-line framework designed with user-friendly/intuitive web interfaces for the convenient estimation of wind-induced responses in the alongwind, acrosswind and torsional directions with minimal user input. In addition, the DEDM-HR embeds a novel feature that allows the use of wind characteristics defined in a code/standard to be used in conjunction with the database. This supplements the provisions of a specific code/standard as in many cases guidance on the acrosswind and torsional response estimates is lacking. Through an example, results from several international codes and standards and the DEDM-HR with the embedded features are compared. This provision enhances the scope of the DEDM-HR in providing an alternative design tool with nested general provisions of various international codes and standards.

  • Consumers' need for uniqueness reflects individual differences in counterconformity and related to the attitude toward brands as well as purchase behavior. To understand the relationship between consumer's personal characteristics and purchase behavior, the study investigated the effect of consumers' need for uniqueness and clothing interest on the brand consciousness, loyalty and purchase intention. Survey was utilized to collect the data and subjects were 271 college students. Measures consisted of five main constructs: Consumer's need for uniqueness, clothing interest, brand consciousness, brand loyalty, and purchase intention. The measurement and structural models were evaluated using PRELIS 2 and LISREL 8.53. Consumer's need for uniqueness was confirmed to have three constructs: creative, unpopular, and avoidance. The researcher tested Model 1 and developed five other models-Models 2 through 6-based on the results from Model 1 evaluation. The additional Models 2 through 6 were nested in Model 1. To select a best model, the researcher compared the value of chi-square, RMSEA, GFI, AIC, and ECVI. Since Model 6 also illustrated conceptually or theoretically reasonable relationships among constructs as well, it was finally selected as a best model. In the Model 6, the creative dimension of consumer's need for uniqueness had a negative relationship with brand loyalty, while the avoidance dimension of consumer's need for uniqueness had positive relationship. The unpopular dimension of consumer's need for uniqueness and clothing interest had significant positive effects on the brand consciousness. The brand consciousness was significantly related to brand loyalty and brand loyalty to purchase intention.

  • We have designed and fabricated the single-layer high $T_{c}$ SQUID magnetometer consisting of a directly coupled grain boundary junction SQUID with an inductance of 100 pH and 16 nested parallel pickup coils with the outermost dimension of 8.8 mm ${\times}$ 8.8 mm. The magnetometer was formed from a YBCO thin film deposited on an STO(100) bicrystal substrate with a misorientation angle of $30^{\circ}$. The SQUID magnetometer was further improved by optimizing the multi-loop pickup coil design for use in unshielded environments. Typical characteristics of the dc SQUID magnetometer had a modulation voltage of 40 $\mu\textrm{V}$ and a white noise of $30fT/Hz^{1}$2/. The SQUID magnetometer exhibited a 1/f noise level at 10 Hz reduced by a factor of about 3 compared with that of the conventional solid type pickup coil magnetometers and a very stable flux locked loop operation in magnetically disturbed environments.s.

  • In this study, we have simulated regional climate over East Asia using dynamical downscaling For dynamic downscaling experiments for regional climate simulation, MM5method. with 27 km horizontal resolution and 18 layers of sigma-coordinate in vertical is nested within global-scale NCEP reanalysis data with 2.5。${\times}$2.5。 resolution in longitude and latitude. In regional simulation, January and July, 1979 monthly mean features have been obtained by both continuous integration and daily restart integration driven by updating the lateral boundary forcing at 6-hr intervals from the NCEP reanalysis data using a nudging scheme with the updating design of initial and boundary conditions in both continuous and restart integrations. In result, we may successfully generated regional detail features which might be forced by topography, lake, coastlines and land use distribution from a regional climate. There is no significant difference in monthly mean features either integrate continuously or integrate with daily restart. For climatologically long integration, the initial condition may not be significantly important. Accordingly, MM5 can be integrated for a long period without restart frequently, if a proper lateral boundary forcing is given.

  • Characteristics of leaf morphology and vegetation were examined in 6 populations of rare endemic tree species, Koelreuteria paniculata Laxm. Additionally we studied genetic variation employing isozyme marker. Nested anova showed that there were statistically significant differences among populations as well as among individuals within populations in all 8 leaf morphological traits. In 7 of 8 traits, variance components among populations were larger than those among individuals within populations. Only a few tree species were found within each population and all the populations seemed to have been disturbed by man. Level of genetic diversity for this rare endemic species was very low, especially compared with those of geographically widespread tree species(A/L=1.1, P=9.5%, $H_o=0.021$, $H_e=0.035$) and degree of genetic differentiation was high($F_{ST}=0.114$). Factors contributing to the low level of genetic diversity and high level of genetic differentiation might include genetic drift, inbreeding and limited gene flow. Finally, implications for the conservation of genetic diversity of Koelreuteria paniculata were discussed.
