확장적 과학 탐구 과제의 특징이 중학생의 탐구 동기에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Characteristics of the Extended Science Investigations Tasks on Middle School Students' Motivation for Investigation)

  • 확장적 과학 탐구는 실제의 과학 활동에 보다 가까운 포괄적인 과학 탐구의 기회를 제공한다는 점에서 학교 과학교육에서 추구되어야 하며 이러한 탐구 활동을 통한 교육적 성취 중 중요한 하나가 탐구 동기라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 확장적 과학 탐구 과제의 특징인 실제성, 개방성, 연속성이 중학생의 탐구 동기에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 구체적인 사례 분석을 통하여 탐색하였다. 탐구 동기를 조사하기 위한 설문 결과와 학생들의 과학 학습 성취 수준을 고려하여 면담 대상 학생 10명을 추출하였으며 개별 면담 결과를 기록하여 탐구 동기의 변화 사례 및 원인을 분석하였다. 확장적 탐구에 대해 정적 탐구 동기를 나타낸 학생들은 교과서 탐구가 이론의 확인에 그친다는 점에서 비판적이었으며 확장적 탐구 과제의 실제성과 개방성을 정적 탐구 동기의 주요 원인으로 인식하였다. 또 확장적 탐구에 대해 부적 탐구 동기를 보인 학생들은 교과서 중심의 학습을 강하게 선호하였으며 확장적 탐구 과제의 개방성을 부적 탐구 동기의 주요 원인으로 인식하였다. 연속성에 대해서는 대체적으로 긍정적인 반응보다는 부정적인 반응이 다소 많았으나 탐구 동기의 주요 원인으로 인식되지는 않았다.

확장적 과학 탐구 활동을 통한 중학생의 탐구 동기 변화 (The Change of Middle School Students' Motivation for Investigation through the Extended Science Investigations)

  • 본 연구에서는 과학 탐구 요소 위주의 단편적인 활동이나 지시적인 확인 실험과 대비되는 종합적이고 포괄적인 문제 해결 활동으로서 '확장적 과학 탐구'를 개념화하고 이러한 탐구 활동을 통한 교육적 성취의 한 가지 중요한 정의적 구인을 '탐구 동기'로 개념화하였다. 탐구 동기는 과학 탐구 활동을 지향하고 출발시키는 개인의 심리적 태세로, 동기의 방향에 따라 정적(正的) 탐구 동기, 부적(負的) 탐구 동기로 구분하고 각각을 그 원인에 따라 외적 탐구 동기와 내적 탐구 동기로 구분하였다. 연구의 목적은 확장적 과학 탐구 활동에서 중학생들의 탐구 동기가 어떻게 변화하는지 종단적으로 조사하여 기술하는 것이다. 중학교 1학년 4개 학급의 남, 여 학생 128명을 연구대상으로 하였다. 과학 교과서의 '힘과 운동' 단원에 제시되어 있는 2가지 탐구 과제와 본 연구에서 개발한 4가지의 확장적 과학 탐구 과제를 학생들이 수행하는 동안 탐구 동기가 어떠한지 설문을 통하여 반복적으로 정량적 자료를 조사하였다. 또한 학생들이 제출하는 탐구 보고서를 통하여 탐구 동기 변화 과정에 대한 정성적 자료를 수집하였다. 이러한 정량적 및 정성적 자료를 분석하고 종합하여 탐구 동기의 변화 과정을 기술하였다. 각 과제에 대한 탐구 동기를 분석해 보면 확장적 과학 탐구에서 교과서에 제시된 협의의 탐구에 비해 정적 탐구 동기를 나타내는 학생 수가 유의하게 증가하지는 않았다. 그러나 탐구 보고서를 통하여 탐구 동기의 원인을 분석하여 보면 교과서에 제시된 협의의 탐구에서는 정적 탐구 동기의 원인으로 과제 외재적 요인이 과제 내재적 요인에 비해 높게 인식된 반면 확장적 과학 탐구에서는 정적 탐구 동기의 원인으로 과제 내재적 요인이 과제 외재적 요인에 비해 높게 인식되었다. 부적 탐구 동기의 경우는 교과서에 제시된 협의의 탐구나 확장적 과학 탐구 모두에서 과제 내재적 요인이 과제 외재적 요인보다 높게 인식되었다. 이것은 부적 탐구 동기를 변화시키기 위해서는 학습 환경의 개선보다는 과제 자체의 내용이나 구조를 개선하기 위한 노력이 필요함을 뜻한다. 확장적 과학 탐구의 전반부와 후반부에서 탐구 동기의 개인별 변화 양상을 살펴보면 정적 탐구 동기가 유지된 학생(39%)이 부적 탐구 동기가 유지된 학생(28%)에 비해 많았고 전반부에서 부적 탐구 동기를 보이다가 후반부에서 정적 탐구 동기로 변화된 학생(21%)이 반대의 경우(12%)보다 많았다. 또한 확장적 과학 탐구의 후반부에서 전반부에 비해 정적 탐구 동기 중 내적 탐구 동기로 구분되는 학생 수가 다소 증가하여 탐구 동기의 바람직한 변화는 확장적 과학 탐구의 전반부보다 후반부에서 나타났다. 결론적으로 확장적 과학 탐구는 과학 교과서에 제시된 협의의 탐구에 비해 정적 탐구 동기를 나타내는 학생 수가 유의하게 증가하도록 하지는 않았지만, 학생들이 정적 탐구 동기의 원인을 보다 더 과제 내재적 요인으로 인식하도록 하는데 기여하였으며 확장적 과학 탐구의 전반부에 비해 후반부에서 탐구 동기의 바람직한 변화를 나타내었다.

Staff Motivation, Self-efficacy and Job Performance of Library Personnel in Public Libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria

  • A person's job performance is the result of their efforts, influenced by their skills, personality, and perceptions of their role. Job performance is the execution of statutory obligations or functions based on the area of expertise of library personnel that are directed toward achieving the library's goals. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of staff motivation and self-efficacy on the job performance of library personnel in Kwara State, Nigeria. The descriptive survey approach of correlational type was used in this investigation. To cover all the library personnel at the participating public libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria, total enumeration or census survey methodologies were used. Eight objectives are used to steer this investigation. The findings demonstrated a significant correlation between staff motivation and job performance, while self-efficacy and job performance have a significant negative relationship. The authors recommend that library personnel who receive training, particularly training focused on providing them with development chances, may perceive that the organization values them as individuals, which increases their sense of self-worth and, as a result, helps them create stronger job performance.

Investigation of Retail Therapy (RT) Values -How Body Consciousness Plays a Role in Therapeutic Shopping Motivations-

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of retail therapy (RT) values and the role of body consciousness on therapeutic shopping motivations and outcomes. In order to accomplish our research aim, we investigated therapeutic shopping values (i.e., positive mood reinforcement and negative mood reduction) and the moderating effects of body surveillance, body shame, and weight preoccupation. A total of 247 female college students in the United States participated in an online Qualtrics survey, and structural equation modeling (SEM) and multigroup analysis were performed to analyze the data. The findings reveal that therapeutic shopping values (positive mood reinforcement and negative mood reduction) significantly influence therapeutic shopping motivation. Therapeutic shopping motivation, in turn, positively influences therapeutic shopping outcomes. Moreover, weight preoccupation moderates the relationship between negative mood reduction and therapeutic shopping motivation, suggesting that RT should especially be utilized for weight-conscious individuals. The results can be utilized for retailers to develop marketing strategies for consumers who are conscious about their appearance. Academic and managerial implications, along with future research, are suggested.

Enhancing Workplace Performance Across Banking Distribution Networks: The Role of Self-Leadership and Intrinsic Motivation in Mitigating Procrastination Behavior

  • Purpose: This research delves into the relationship between self-leadership and procrastination behavior in banking distribution networks. Based on the self-determination theory, the study explores how organizational commitment mediates the relationship between these variables. Moreover, the research considers the vital role that intrinsic motivation plays in enhancing and reinforcing these connections. Research design and methodology: Using data from 384 bank employees and partial least squares structural equation modeling, the research found evidence to support the theory. This methodological approach enabled the investigation to uncover the intricate links between self-leadership, procrastination behavior, organizational commitment, and intrinsic motivation. Results: The findings strongly support the hypotheses, indicating a negative association between self-leadership and procrastination behavior at the workplace; conversely, a positive correlation was found between self-leadership and organizational commitment. The discovery further strengthens the results that intrinsic motivation amplifies the positive relationship between self-leadership and organizational commitment. Conclusions: This research underscores the importance of cultivating a culture of self-leadership among banking distribution network employees. By doing so, procrastination can be substantially reduced, enhancing both productivity and overall performance. The study's insights are particularly valuable for organizational leaders in the banking sector, as they provide actionable pathways to foster a more committed, motivated, and efficient workforce.

초, 중, 고 학생들의 과학학습 행동억제체계 및 행동활성화체계와 과학흥미도 조사 및 상관관계 분석 (An Investigation of SL-BIS/BAS and the Interest in Science among Elementary, Middle & High school Students and an Analysis of the Correlation between them)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate a motivation system about science learning and interest in science among elementary, middle & high school students and analyze on the their relations. For this, the questionnaires on interest in science that developed by Kind et al., (2007) were selected and translated. After that, second-grade 80 students, fourth-grade 87 students, sixth-grade 107 students, eighth-grade 123 students and eleventh-grade 128 students were required to accomplish a questionnaire on behavioral inhibition system/behavioral activation system about science learning (SL-BIS/BAS), interest in science. Based on these materials, SL-BIS/BAS by student's variables and relations of between the system to interest in science have been analyzed. The result of this study shows the followings. First, the sensitivity about SL-BIS was no significant difference in School levels. But sensitivity about SL-BAS and interest in science in elementary and high school was higher than it in middle school. Second, there were low negative correlation with SL-BIS and interest in science, and relatively high positive correlation with SL-BAS and interest in science. Through the results of this study, relations of motivation to related variables, and the motivation by student's variables are identified. These results would be helpful for teachers to understand the difference about motivation by students' variables and to make a plan for the appropriate strategies for learners.

청소년의 자원봉사 참여동기가 자원봉사 만족도와 리더십 생활기술능력 함양에 미치는 영향 분석 (Investigation of the Impacts of Adolescents' Volunteer Participation Motivation on Their Satisfaction and Leadership Living Skill Abilities)

  • 청소년의 봉사활동이 체험활동으로서의 기능과 건전한 인격형성 및 공동체 의식 함양과 청소년 리더십 생활기술 능력 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치기도 하지만, 봉사활동이 결과만을 입시에 반영하도록 함으로써 자원봉사활동의 본래의 목적이 퇴색되어가고 있다. 본 연구에서는 청소년 자원봉사활동의 참여동기(이타적 참여동기, 이기적 참여동기)가 청소년 리더십 생활기술 능력(인간관계기술, 그룹활동기술, 학습능력기술, 자기이해기술)과 자원봉사 만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 최종적으로 222개의 표본을 분석에 사용하였다. 그 결과에 의하면, 첫째, 청소년의 자원봉사활동의 이타적 참여동기가 리더십 생활기술능력과 자원봉사 만족도에 긍정적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 자원봉사활동의 이기적 참여동기는 리더십 생활기술능력에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, 자원봉사 만족도에는 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

운동 치료 연구에 영향을 주는 연구대상자의 참여도와 충실도 조사 (Investigation of frequency and fidelity of the participants affecting the study of exercise therapy)

  • Background: The present study was performed to examine the factors required for active engagement of participants in exercise therapy by surveying the frequency of participation, fidelity of performance, and supporting materials and rewards provided to encourage participation in the study. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The survey was conducted in a population of 103 participants in at least one exercise treatment study. A 12-item questionnaire was designed to determine the frequency of exercise participation and fidelity of participant performance. Results: The results were subjected to frequency analysis and Pearson's correlation analysis. The subjects were less likely to exercise with the therapist and less likely to exercise at home. In addition, the provision of supplementary materials, to be considered when exercising at home, was insufficient. A strong positive correlation was found between the frequency of exercise in the presence of a therapist and the fidelity of participant performance (r=0.812, p=0.001), whereas a weak negative correlation was found between the frequency of unperformed exercises and the fidelity of participant performance (r=-0.523, p=0.023). Conclusion: The results of the present study suggested that it is necessary to increase the number of times that exercises are performed with the therapist to motivate increased frequency of exercise participation and fidelity of participant performance. In addition, appropriate rewards and periodic management are required.

  • In this study, investigation into the impact of sensation seeking tendency and clothing attitudes upon brand variety seeking will be made through the presentation of sensation seeking tendency as consumer's motivation of clothing behavior and clothing attitude as parameter. To give goals of this study. First, to help the understanding of consumers by elucidating consumer's psychological characteristics against sensation seeking tendency, clothing attitude and diverse brands seeking. Second, to offer standard for specifying market by presenting theoretical as well as empirical data. Third. to create successful marketing strategy according to consumer groups and moreover to increase sales efficiency. Research results are as follows : As a result of investigating on which factor among sensation seeking tendency affects on seeking various brands, change seeking tendency and aesthetic seeking impact upon seeking various kinds of brands. Change seeking is turned out to be the most influential factor. Fashion leadership, fashion innovativeness, attention concentration, social approval and clothing interest had an impact on diverse kinds of brand seeking: there was a positive relations with fashion leadership. attention concentration. clothing interest and fashion innovativeness, whereas a negative link with social approval. Three factors of sensation seeking tendency, two factors, that is change seeking and aesthetic seeking. have direct and indirect paths that lead to diverse brand seeking, via clothing attitude. that is to say, clothing interest. fashion leadership. social approval and attention concentration. On the other hand, thrill and risk seeking only had indirect path. Aesthetic seeking showed higher significance to indirect effect on diverse brand seeking which takes clothing attitude as a parameter, than that of direct effect. Brand variety seeking was under considerable effect of fashion leadership, clothing interest and attention concentration, in order.

확장된 계획된 행위이론과 동기이론에 기한 소비자의 윤리적 소비행위에 미치는 영향요인 분석 연구 (Factors Affecting Ethical Consumption: Applying Extended Planned Behavior Theory and Motivation Theory)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to grasp the concept of ethical consumption that is inevitably one of the behaviors of consumption and to find factors affecting ethical consumption. The most special idea of this study is including motive in the research model. And motive will influence the factors affecting the intention to behave. Research design, data, and methodology: Considering variables affecting ethical consumption, we first adopted the T theory of Planned Behavior. There are three variables of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavior control in the model. In addition to variables used in the Planned Behavior Theory, ethical duty, self-identity, motive, neutralization, ambivalence are included in the study. Questionnaires are made for survey, and investigation was conducted from 1th March to 11th of March. Total 360 copies are used for analysis. SPSS version 23 was used for analysis. Results: Study results show that first, the variables of attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, ethical duty, self-identity are turned to be statistically significant factors affecting ethical consumption intention. In this study, we defined the ethical consumption as voluntary, self-sacrifice needed, and additional efforts required behavior, therefore motive thought to be needed at fist for individual consumer to form intention. For neutralization and ambivalence, neutralization does not affect ethical consumption directly or indirectly, but we found ambivalence has moderating effect while motive affecting attitude, perceived behavior control, self-identity and has moderating effect while attitude, subjective nom, perceived behavior control, self-identity affects intention. Ambivalence means individual consumer's thought or preoccupation toward ethical consumption, in other words, consumer may have fiendly or unfriendly, positive or negative impression to it. Overall, motive and ambivalence are important factors for ethical consumption. Motive plays some role from the start influencing main factors affecting ethical consumption. Ambivalence also functions by moderating variables. Thinking of ambivalence taking account of essence of ethical consumption, some consumers may have pretext or justification for not doing ethical consumption which may again annoy themselves. Conclusions: In conclusion, for intention to ethical consumption to be formed motive should be activated beforehand and ambivalence should be considered. Negative ambivalence toward ethical consumption should be removed and positive ambivalence should be developed.
