In this study, we inquire into the general concepts of eroticism as it appears in literature and the arts, and use this as a foundation to meditate on the eroticism of attire throughout history. We also ascertained external forms based on the range of "The way we look" by Delong. In this way we inclusively studied both the content and form of modes of eroticism in the perspective of Brodsky's "linked solution." The original concept of eroticism is a technique by which one attains physical passion, referring to a nature which is deeply rooted in the cultural traditions, myths, habits. religion and arts of mankind, inducing expressions of sensual love. We integrated this eroticism in 4 categories: sensuality, which induces beauty; naturality, denoting idealization or rational beauty; primitivity, characterized by grotesque expressions or direct and natural sexual depictions; and symbolism by which sex is symbolically or mechanically projected. The concept of eroticism contains both positive and negative aspects, but rather than dealing with sex in a mechanical or perverted manner to express eroticism, it is more appropriate to guide the direction of modes of eroticism by stimulating the "desire to show" and the "desire to see" with the dialectic of obstruction and exposure as a figurative expression of true passion, and narcistic phenomena in which beauty is expressed through exaggeration or magnification and adhesion.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether high-level(level 6) essay-writing questions in Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) have been presented appropriately so as to enable foreign test-takers to display their Korean writing ability properly, and to provide some suggestions on how those questions need to be changed. To accomplish this purpose, all the essay-writing questions were collected from the 33 TOPIK tests, from the 2nd in 1998 to the 35thin 2014, and analyzed from the perspectives of their topics and formats. The results are that high-level TOPIK essay-writing questions showed a strong tendency to take as their topics Korean sociocultural structures and phenomena, or current issues in Korea, and that they frequently employed guided writing formats by providing preset ideas or/and contexts for test-takers to write in a guided way; such tendencies were analyzed to shed a negative influence on test-takers displaying their writing ability and creativity, because those topics and preset ideas or contexts provided do not allow them to express their own opinions or positions freely. It is suggested that TOPIK essay-writing questions should be changed to deal with objective and general topics which enable test-takers to write freely and logically in Korean based on their experience, because TOPIK is not a test to check whether they have enough background knowledge about the Korean society and culture, but a test to assess their Korean proficiency.
This study examined the characteristics of costumes worn at Halloween parties, a form of cultural entertainment commonly seen in the U.S. The Halloween party culture involves children and adolescents wearing costumes, decorating their bodies, and mimicking famous characters. Furthermore, the types and motifs of Halloween costumes have become a means of expressing individuality. This study conducted empirical research on how such motifs were reflected in modern Halloween party-wear in order to provide basic data regarding the development and design of Halloween costumes and the formation of the related entertainment culture. This study researched the shape of costumes and the type of traditional motif presented in these costumes, as well as analyzed the symbolic meaning of each motif. The research process was as follows. First, this study investigated the origin and evolution of Halloween by researching precedent studies, books, and internet data. Second, this study extracted the types of traditional Halloween motifs by analyzing the characteristics and symbols of Halloween costumes commonly presented in such materials. After collecting 547 Halloween-related images from U.S. and Korean Internet websites, this study sorted and analyzed images that could represent traditional Halloween motifs. According to the results, representative traditional Halloween motifs included black cats, white rabbits, tridents, scarecrows, skull and bones, ghosts, witches, vampires, bats, werewolves, and jack-o-lanterns(pumpkins, etc.). The sentiments for such traditional Halloween motifs changed according to era and race. The symbolic meaning would continuously change - from positive to negative and vice versa - to reflect various socio-cultural phenomena. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for developing Halloween costume designs and the related entertainment culture.
This study aims primarily to discuss the question 'What does the red fashion boom in Korean society during the 2002 World Cup mean\ulcorner' For this question, it describes fashion phenomena and characteristics that appeared during the time. Specifically, in order to understand the concrete essence of the red fashion boom in terms of clothing and textiles, this study classifies and describes the red fashion boom as 'object, process and symbol' concepts. It investigates each case within the context of fashion. Outside that context, then, the implications of the red fashion boom are examined based on cultural studies and other sociocultural perspectives. This question is considered by focusing on social pressures as ideology, looking at the voluntary behaviour of Korean people in this context and examining several other factors. This is an investigation of the relationship between fashion, society and culture pursuing fashion theory by reviewing the relevant theoretical backgrounds afforded by the humanities and the social sciences. Based upon the above theoretical discussions, it synthesises what factors contributed to the Korean red fashion boom. Finally, this study briefly states their applicability to cultural marketing in its practical aspects. This study has attempted to throw some light on the question 'What does the red fashion boom in Korean society during the 2002 World Cup mean\ulcorner' The Korean Red Fashion Boom emerged from its interrelation with each context of the World Cup, as in the dualism of 'Janus'. That is, the World Cup functioned as the positive face of a festival that collected deep emotions and passion and contributed to the integration of society. Whereas its negative face, ideologically speaking, personified the invisible capitalistic product produced by the nation, enterprises and the mass media. And the implications of the red fashion boom can be interpreted with reference to the two faced World Cup.
This study is about expressive aspects of subversive mimesis found in architectural design under 2nd Modernity. Architectural works under 2nd Modernity are described based on pseudo-scientific positivism and philosophical ontology of Deleuze. However, subversiveness found in works of arts by architects such as Rem Koolhaas present a few complexities to relay on such a description. This is about 'subversiveness' which absorbs the positive and negative factors of modernity which has been multi-layered as 'cultural capital'. This study aims to identify meta-phenomenon as well as the specific correlations between expression and purposes of any work of art that is presented in the form of subversiveness. To achieve this aim, this study approached with the concepts of appropriation and detournment based on Adorno's subversive mimesis concept. Meta-phenomena of architectural design methods occur from relations of three, which are social reality, artist, and work of art. This was connected to productivity of mimesis practice of self-reference and self-examination, which was then, summed up from the perspectives of appropriation in pure arts and d$\acute{e}$tournment of situationalists. Based on this work, subversive expressive characteristics of architecture under 2nd Modernity were framed from the perspectives of the absorption of cultural capital, reflection and negation, autonomy, instrumentality, and meta properties. In this way, this study found that Adorno's subversiveness should be effective for creative and methodological systemization in terms of interpretation of cognition, practice, and effect after materialization.

In this study, Seongbuk-dong historical & cultural resources of the surrounding landscape were analyzed by the visual characteristics of the landscape adjective analysis. Research was investigate to the relationship between visual characteristics and preferences and Research in the following way. Selected historical and cultural resources in the surrounding area are located in Seongbuk-dong 30 slices the survey was conducted. Landscape preference factors to identify the scale of 16 adjectives and then factor analysis was conducted. Lastly, Analysis of variance and regression analysis were conducted in order to determine the impact of the last image factors on visual preferences. Firstly, The results can be summarized as follows. Officer for 30 pictures appear in Seongbuk-dong in the historical and cultural resources, and distributed around the target preference for the 16 adjectives analysis yielded an average result of overall preference were analyzed and that is a 3.72 average. In these photos, VP8, VP9, VP10, VP12, VP15; 4.5 points more than one order higher. The reason is limit of altitude by the Seoul landscape plan for the historical and cultural resources around. It also judged important reason that history and Culture are in harmony with the surrounding cultural property in the conservation area. Secondly, Important factors are factor 1(aesthetic factors), factor 2(cultural factors), factor 3(physical factors) and three factors could be identified. Results of the analysis of variance and regression analysis about factors for visual preference and image shows value of psychological factor is most significant to explain for nearby history &cultural resources of Seongbuk-dong of scenery around. As a result, the state can not view historical and cultural resources for analysis will be located in a residential area near the historical and cultural resources for aesthetic factors. Third, the negative side of the argument is a residential area which is not arranged surrounding landscape maintenance of historical and cultural resources has emerged. Historical and cultural resources in harmony with the phenomena of the physical, cultural, and aesthetic characteristics of the three areas is a positive factor in the high incidence. Factors from that are expressed in this study by analyzing multi-dimensional analysis to derive a factor to be considered important in the management of historical and cultural resources, landscape around is required.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between physical factors, economic factors, and cultural factors of tourism gentrification (TG) in urban areas. Based on the results of an empirical analysis, we provide the basic theory and practical implications of the relationship between tourism phenomena and city image. This study used a questionnaire for residents of the Jeju area. From September 1, 2018, to October 3, 2018, the survey was conducted in Nuemori Street, Yeongdong Street, Gucheong Eup, and Moon Town. Thus, we use 479 samples for analysis out of 500 samples obtained. This study produced two important results. First, the physical, economic, and cultural factors of tourism gentrification have significant effects on cognitive image and emotional image. Second, economic factors have statistical significance in cognitive image and emotional image. These results and implications can be useful for practical implications of the theoretical implications of tourism gentrification and regional specialization promotion policies. In addition, from the economic point of view, what should be considered is that development-centered area development can have a negative impact on urban image. Despite these research results, there are limitations in the research, such as cross-sectional studies and short-term studies, and we look forward to a longitudinal study in the future from a long-term perspective.
This study aims to identify work conflicts in Korean socio-cultural context by applying grounded theory. Survey has been conducted through in-depth interviews with 11 different employees from various occupational categories. Data collected from the survey were then analyzed based on the grounded theory of Strauss and Corbin (1998), thus resulted in a paradigm model consisting of 31 categories, 63 subcategories, and 100 concepts by open coding. Axial coding was then conducted and the results were as follows. The causal condition was the 'character of an opponent'. Contextual conditions which affect the causal condition were 'situational characteristics', 'character of an opponent', 'character of oneself', and their 'mutuality'. 'Negative feeling' was the central phenomena of work conflict and action/interaction strategies were verified to be 'avoidance', 'expression', 'effort toward solving problems' and 'increasing conflict'. Intervening conditions were 'interrelation', 'intervention', and 'group/task characteristics'. The consequences were organized as 'conflict continuance', 'personnel change' and 'positive effect'. Through selective coding, 'managing with the conflict' was derived as core-category and three different types of management were classified. Ultimately, this study shows how employees work in Korea experience the work conflicts and what kinds of socio-cultural factors have influence on the work conflicts, which can supplement previous inadequate empirical research. Also, this study can provide implications and suggestions as a fundamental integrated model for the future empirical research on work conflicts.

Sosang Pal-Kyung(瀟湘八景), which originated in China and means eight scenes of So River and Sang River, greatly influenced the poems and the pictures in East Asia for a long time and became a cultural phenomenon leading the stereotype of the traditional landscapes in Korea and Japan. Studies on 'Kyung(a scene)' such as 'Pal-Kyung(八景)', have been made continuously until now, but there are no results of a study intensively focusing on the meaning and the form of Sosang Pal-Kyung, which is the origin of the domestic Pal-Kyung culture. The goal of this study is to investigate the typical form observed in Sosang Pal-Kyung-Ga(瀟湘八景歌) and Sosang Pal-Kyung-Do(瀟湘八景圖), as a text of a cultural landscape, and to clear up the coherence structure between a recognition system and a way of thinking that existed in the cultural phenomenon of Sosang Pal-Kyung. In this study, the symbolism of Pal(八) was summarized and the surface structure and the correlation of each Kyung of Sosang Pal-Kyung was explained in light of semiotics through segmenting and disjointing the lexeme of a landscape while the coherence structure and the meaning of Sosang Pal-Kyung-Ga and Sosang Pal-Kyung-Do as a text were investigated. Sosang Pal-Kyung is based on the view of the Sun and the Moon(or Positive and Negative) and the Eight Trigrams(八卦) for divination and is a linguistic symbol in which human life and the principle of circulation and conversion of nature are expressed as characters and picture texts. Its structure has strong coherence and cohesion, which attempt to move the abstruse truth of nature into human consciousness by developing and corresponding the grammatical structure and form of the sentences and the implicative languages emphasizing the symbolism of the words to the characteristics of similarities and contrast. In addition, Sosang Pal-Kyung expresses human life, the processes of birth and death of nature and the mutual response dialectically by putting various factors of the landscape in the frame of regular formality and structure. It is considered that the image signs in Sosang Pal-Kyung emphasize the theory of circulation of human life and nature are narrative scenery, which one looks at with a contemplative view in the circulation system of the time and the season. The cultural phenomena of Sosang Pal-Kyung in the Joseon Dynasty, which had been handed down from the Goryeo Dynasty, had become the driving force of leading aesthetics of Joseon's art and literature by adding the scenery of the point of view of Sung Confucianism. Its coherence structure was changed, but its cohesion was handed down continuously so that it became not only the basic text of the traditional and cultural landscape but also, the typical Korean-style stereotype of a landscape.
In the early 1900, photography, magic lantern and cinema were simultaneously introduced and experienced until the mid-1910s as mysterious and magical symbol of modern science and technology. The technology of vision, cinema in particular demonstrated its commercially expandable potentials through serial films in the mid-1910s, silent cinema in the 1920s and talkies in 1930s. I argue that a metaphor 'like a movie' which was would be spoken out by peoples as a cliche ever since the late 1910s whenever they encountered something uncanny, mysterious, and looking wholly new phenomena informs how cinematic technology worked in colonial society at the turning point to the early 20th century. Mass in colonial society accepted cinema and other visual technologies not only as an advanced science of the times but as texts of modernity that is the reason why cinema had so quickly taken cultural hegemony over the colony. Until the mid-1920s, discourse on cinema focused not on cinema itself, rather more on the theatre matters such as hygiene, facilities for public use, disturbance, quarrels and fights, theft, and etc. Since the mid-1920s and especially in wartime 1930s, discourses about negative influences and effects of cinema on behavior, mind and spirit of masses, bodily health, morality and crime were articulated and delivered by Japanese authorities and agencies like as police, newspapers and magazines, and collaborate Korean intellectuals. Theories and research reports stemming from disciplines of psychology, sociology, and mass-psychology that emphasized vulnerability and susceptibility of the crowd and mass consumers who would be exposed to visual images, spectacles and strong toxic stimulus in everyday lives. Those negative discourse on influences and effects of cinema was intimately associated with fear of the crowd and mass as well as new technology which does not allow clear understanding about how it works in future. The fact that cinema as a technology of vision could be used as an apparatus of ideology and propaganda stirred up doubts and pessimistic perspectives on cinema influence. Discourse on visual technology cinema constructed under colonial governance is doomed to be technology of mass control for empire's own sake.
