Inertial-grade vertical-type and lateral-type differential resonant accelerometers (DRXLs) are designed, fabricated using one process and tested for navigational applications. The accelerometers consist of an out-of-plane (for z-axis) accelerometer and in-plane (for x, y-axes) accelerometers. The sensing principle of the accelerometer is based on gap-sensitive electrostatic stiffness changing effect. It says that the natural frequency of the accelerometer can be changed according to an electrostatic force on the proof mass of the accelerometer. The out-of-plane resonant accelerometer shows bias stability of $2.5{\mu}g$, sensitivity of 70 Hz/g and bandwidth of 100 Hz at resonant frequency of 12 kHz. The in-plane resonant accelerometer shows bias stability of $5.2{\mu}g$, sensitivity of 128 Hz/g and bandwidth of 110 Hz at resonant frequency of 23.4 kHz. The measured performances of two accelerometers are suitable for an application of inertial navigation.

The performance of navigational equipments is advanced, but the importance of the practical capability of bridge device by ship's officer, ie the ability of risk prediction and the obligation of avoidance for reducing sea accident, has been constantly augmenting. This abilities and obligation may be represented in the cognitive competence of navigational officer. Different levels of ship's bridge team was carried out rescue maneuvering by ship handling simulator and then it analyzed the resulting of initial response in cognitive progress by case based on trajectory. Further, the data will be used as training and evaluation model of cognitive situation.

Many countries are producing the ENC(Electronic Navigational Chart)for their own waters and developing the electronic navigational equipment such as ECS, and ECDIS. Though ECDIS has many advantages, it is almost impossible for the mariner to recognize the displayed information because of intense display of objects so called as the clutter. In this paper, the problem of scale factor has been investigated and now methods, variable factor system, to assign the scale factor were proposed.
The ENC standard, S-57 Specification was established to exchange hydrographic data between it's users such as HOs ECDIS users, etc. The digital navigation chart which is produced according to the S-57 Specification is called an ENC(Electronic Navigational Chart) and the SENC(System ENC) is a by-product of ENC suitable for computer graphics system Even though the efficient structure of SENC is a key element of measuring ECDIS performance, the amount of papers about these topics are small compared with other research fields. In this paper, the author designed an efficient spatial data structure of SENC, called Mesh This paper also includes the implementation result of the 'Mesh' which displays SENC on computer screen.
A microwave Navigational Aid system is suggested suitable for fishing boats too small to be equipped with Radar or Radio-Direction-Finder. The system proposed here is similar to that of Talking-Beacon developed in Japan, but the distinctive modification proposed is that an increase of sixteen times in peak transmitting power, thus an accompanying increase of coverage, is achieved with the same mean transmitting power as that of Japan without sacrificing the clearness of azimuth information, by adopting a pulse repetition modulation instead of pulse width modulation as in Japan system. An experimental land station transmitter of transmitting frequency of 9, 370MHz and of peak power of 35kw with a microwave beam of 1 degree in horizontal width and 7 degrees in vertical width rotating once every three minutes, and also an experimental receiver of 20-dB in sensitivity and of an assumed cost of 100 dollars, operated by a 12 volts battery source are made, and the sail test results are reported showing that a bearing infromation of an accuracy of within two degrees can be obtainable every three minutes at a distance of as far as 24 miles from the transmitter if the transmitter is located as high as 100 meters above sea-level.

With the recent development of bathemetry technology, the hydrographic surveying method has been changed from single beam depth device use to multi beam acoustic sounding technology. Also, various studies have been reported to obtain high accuracy and precision in the process of river bed topographic data. Especially south korea is geographically on three sides of the sea and the river topography is very developed. To build information about the underwater, and riverbed status, the public investigations has been continuously progressed. In this study, We investigasted the riverbed topography near Baeckma river leisure park. for this purpose, In this study, as the first preliminary survey, location of navigational dangerous objects and reefs and the dangerous areas are identified. Also, ground control points is selected for the optimal GPS surveying. Secondary, through test surveying the Gain, TVG, and pulse length are determined. In addition, the investigation of dangerous objects for navigation is also conducted. As the last step, the error analysis are conducted for the acquired data, and this process involves the removal and adjustments of errors. This section includes the analysis of tide level and navigational contributions, and finally generates a submarine topographic map.

The layout of facilities, in relation to information and navigational displays, has great influence on subway satisfaction, and tend to vary depending on the types of subway platform and transit station. However, until now, few studies have covered such aspects as of yet. Starting from this viewpoint, the purpose of this study was to use an IPA analysis technique to analyze that satisfaction on the importance of facilities to aid in accessibility, such as elevators and escalators, transit amenities and information and navigational displays depending on the types of platform and transit station. To do so, we've classified 15 metropolitan stations according to types of platform and transit station and analyzed differences in user importance and satisfaction as well as improvements for platforms and transit stations of similar type. By the analysis results of this study, we've concluded that the proper selection and positioning of elevator and escalator facilities and information and navigational displays was important when designing the subway station according to platform type (separate platform) and or according to the transit station type (cross, L, T types) where pedestrian flow heavily intersected. We considered that such analysis results would be helpful in the design of new stations and the enhancement of existing stations pursuant to a new direction that minimizes user inconvenience, and that improvement items should be developed first according to the platform and transit station types, which would be helpful in enhancing the efficiency of the subway improvement cost.
The system that covers gathering, integrating, exchanging, presenting and analyzing of information within ships and shores for the safety and security in Marine Environment is known as e-Navigation Policy. Northern Europe has been conducting research and development. It came up into a concept that deals with ship's route information between vessels as well as vessels to shores which is better known as route exchange system. The research showed substantial advantages on navigational safety by exchanging the route information between vessels in vicinity and vessels to shores. Therefore, upon the adaptation of route exchange System as a major function in integrated navigational system, the existing procedures in VTS could be changed for betterment. In this study, it was verified the effectiveness of route exchange system by the adaptation of a recent collision accident occurred in Korean coast and suggested that route exchange system which would be carried out by the discretion of VTS center in VTS area. Finally, it proposed the new functions for outstanding services and procedures of integrating traffic organization services on coastal VTS for an effective route exchange system in Korean coastal area.

With recent technological advances in the shipbuilding industry, vessels have been improved in size and performance. As a result, an accident such as grounding, caused by a single ship-to-ship collision, could lead to a large-scale maritime disaster. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the international community has been consistently updating the standards for Electronic Navigational Chart(ENC) to improve the maritime safety. S-57, the existing ENC standard governed by the International Hydrographic Organization(IHO), includes standards for generating conventional binary-type ENC data sets. The S-57 standard, however, has not been updated since the release of Version 3.1 in December 2000. Since then, the standard has failed to reflect technological development regarding maritime spacial information, which has been consistently improving. In an effort to address this concern, the IHO designated S-100, i.e., the next-generation ENC production standard. S-100 differs from S-57 in data exchange type. Contrary to the conventional ENC standards, which use binary-type data, S-10X, based on the next-generation ENC standards, uses ENC data composed of Feature Catalogue, Portrayal Catalogue, and GML. Considering this fact, it is necessary to update S-58, the ENC validation check standard, or designate a new standard for ENC validation checks. This study is developed own software to implement validation checks for new types of data, and identified improvement points based on the test results.

Human errors have known as a majority of maritime navigational accidents such as collision and grounding. A large number of relevant research applied indirect research methods such as survey and interview. The research methods are limited to collect objective data regarding human errors due to its nature. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to improve the limitation of human error measurement of navigators by applying wearable sensors. Infrared sensors by using a 3-D printer to accommodate the special environment of a ship were developed for the study. As results, a significant reliance on the Integrated Navigation System including Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and Radar. The results are expected to motivate further research to investigate human errors of ship navigators to reduce the maritime navigational accidents.
