In this study, flow-induced vibration (FIV) analyses have been conducted for a 3D compressor blade model. Advanced computational analysis system based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) has been developed in order to investigate detailed dynamic responses of designed compressor blades. Fluid domains are modeled using the computational grid system with local grid deforming and remeshing techniques. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with $\kappa-\varepsilon$ turbulence model are solved for unsteady flow problems of the rotating compressor model. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method is used for computing the coupled aeroelastic governing equations of the 3D compressor blade for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems. Detailed dynamic responses and instantaneous pressure contours on the blade surfaces considering flow-separation effects are presented to show the multi-physical phenomenon of the rotating compressor blade.

The purpose of this 3-D numerical simulation is to calculate and examine a 500 kW Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) power performance and 3-D rotor flow characteristics, which are compared to calculation data from Delft University. The experimental approach, which has been the main method of investigation, appears to be reaching its limits, the cost increasing relate with the size of wind turbines. Hence, the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques and Navier-Stokes solvers is considered a very serious contender. We has used the CFD software package CFX-TASCflow as a modeling tool to predict the power performance and 3-D flow characteristics of a wind turbine on the basis of its geometry and operating data. The wind turbine with 40m diameters rotor, it was scaled to compare with the calculation data from delft university. The HAWT, which has eight-rpm variations are investigated respectively. The pitch angle is $+0.5^{\circ}$and wind speed is fixed at 5m/s. The tip speed ratio (TSR) of the HAWT ranging from 2.89 to 9.63.
In general, TVC(Thermal Vapor Compressor) is used to boost/compress a low pressure vapor to a higher pressure for further utilization. The one-dimensional method is simple and reasonably accurate, but cannot realize the detail as like the back flow and recirculation in the mixing chamber, viscous shear effect, and etc. In this study, the axisymmetric How simulations have been performed to reveal the detailed flow characteristics for the various ejector shapes. The Navier-Stokes and energy equations are solved together with the continuity equation In the compressible flow fields. The standard $k-{\epsilon}$ model is selected for the turbulence modeling. The commercial computational fluid dynamic code FLUENT software is used for the simulation. The results contain the entrainment ratio under the various motive, suction and discharge pressure conditions. The numerical results are compared with the experimental data, and the comparison shows the good agreement. The three different flow regimes (double chocking, single chocking and back flow) have been clearly distinguished according to each boundary pressure values. Also the effects of the various shape variables (nozzle position, nozzle outlet diameter, mixing tube diameter, mixing tube converging angle, and etc.) are quantitatively discussed.
The present study deals with CFD analysis of a plastic heat exchanger with corrugated wall. This exchanger has sinusoidal corrugations, and the flow through the exchanger is three dimensional. In addition, CFX-5.4, a commercial code utilizing unstructured mesh, was used as a computational method for solving RANS(Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes) equations, and the applied turbulence model is $k-{\varepsilon}$ model. The factors to affect the efficiency of a plastic heat exchanger are heat conductivity, flow characteristics and so on. For those two factors, heat conductivity is fixed by the wall material. Therefore, the How along the corrugation affects the efficiency more, provided the same material. In conclusion, the heat transfer enhancement of a plastic heat exchanger with corrugated wall can be recognized from the flow characteristics such as velocity streamline, local heat transfer coefficient, velocity contour, and pressure contour. To confirm the results, both of the measured and the computational data for pressure loss were compared with each other, and they were identical.

Jet cutting technology currently makes use of a generic supersonic gas jet to improve the cutting speed and performance. In order to get a better understanding of the flow characteristics involved in the supersonic jet cutting technology, the axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations have been solved using a fully implicit finite volume method. Computations have been conducted to investigate some major characteristics of supersonic coaxial turbulent jets. An assistant gas jet has been imposed on the primary gas jet to simulate realistic jet cutting circumstance. The pressure and the temperature ratios of the primary and assistant gas jets are altered to investigate the major characteristics of the coaxial jets. The total pressure and Mach number distributions, shock wave systems, and the jet core length which characterize the coaxial jet flows are strongly affected by the pressure ratio, but not significantly dependent on the total temperature ratio. The assistant gas jet greatly affects the basic flow characteristics of the shock system and the core length of under and over-expanded jets.
The present work is aimed at investigating an unusual variation in flow and performance characteristics of a small propeller fan at low flow rates. A performance test of the fan showed dual performance characteristics, i.e., radial type characteristics at low flow rates and axial type at high flow rates. Dual performance characteristics of the fan are numerically investigated using viscous flow calculations. The Finite Volume Method is used to solve the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations in the flow domain around a fan. The performance parameters and the circumferentially averaged velocity components obtained from the calculations are compared with the experimental results. Numerical values of the performance parameters show good agreement with the measured values. The calculation simulates the steep variations of performance parameters at low flow rates and shows the difference in the flow structure between high and low flow rates. At a low flow coefficient of $\Phi$=0.2, the flow enters the fan in an axial direction and is discharged radially outward at its tip, which is much like the flow characteristics of a centrifugal fan. The centrifugal effect at low flow rates makes a significant difference in performance characteristics of the fan. As the inlet flow rate increases, flow around the fan changes into the mixed type at $\Phi$=0.24 and the axial discharge at $\Phi$=0.4.
The time-dependent behavior of nonequilibrium condensation of moist air through the Ludwieg tube is investigated with a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) method. The two-dimensional, compressible, Navier-Stokes equations, fully coupled with the condensate droplet growth equations, are numerically solved by a third-order MUSCL type TVD finite-difference scheme, with a second-order fractional time step. Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model is employed to close the governing equations. The computational results are compared with the previous experiments using the Ludwieg tube with a downstream diaphragm. The results clearly show that for an initial relative humidity below 30% there is no periodic oscillation of the condensation shock wave, but for an initial relative humidity over 40% the periodic excursions of the condensation shock occurs in the Ludwieg tube, and the frequency increases with the initial relative humidity. It is also found that total pressure loss due to nonequilibrium condensation in the Ludwieg tube should not be ignored even for a very low initial relative humidity, and the periodic excursions of the condensation shock wave are responsible for the total pressure loss.

The purpose of this 3-D numerical simulation is to evaluate the application of a commercial CFD code to predict 3-D flow and power characteristics of wind turbines. The experimental approach, which has been main method of investigation, appears to be its limits, the cost increasing with the size of the wind turbines, hence mostly limited to observing the phenomena on rotor blades. Therefore. the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques and Navier-Stokes solvers are considered a very serious contender. The flow solver CFX-TASCflow is employed in all computations in this paper. The 3-D flow separation and the wake distribution of 2 and 3 bladed Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWTs) are compared to Heuristic model and smoke-visualized experimental result by NREL(National Renewable Energy Laboratory). Simulated 3-D flow separation structure on the rotor blade is very similar to Heuristic model and the wake structure of the wind turbine is good consistent with smoke-visualized result. The calculated power of the 3 bladed rotor by CFD is compared with BEM results by TU-Delft. The CFD results of which is somewhat consist with BEM results. under an error less than 10%.

In this paper, we analyzed the dynamic behavior of magnetic fluid in a circular pipe with multiple permanent magnets. Magnetic fluid react on magnetic field against the normal fluid. In other words, magnetic fluid flow has the electromagnetism and fluid mechanics. So magnetic fluids has studied about the fluids properties and experiment. In this paper we studied the magnetic fluids velocity and pressure distribution for the novel type actuator. Because the velocity and pressure distribution is the important element of the magnetic fluids flow. First, we analyzed the Maxwell equation for the multiple permanent magnet and then concluded the governing equations for the magnetic fluid flow using the equation of Navier-Stokes. And, we simulated the dynamic behavior of magnetic fluid flow using the FEM(Finite Element Method). And we illustrated the relation between magnetic field and dynamic behavior of magnetic fluid flow.

A numerical analysis based on two-dimensional and three-dimensional incompressible Wavier-Stokes equations has been carried out for double-circular-arc compressor cascades and the results are compared with available experimental data at various incidence angles. The 2-D and 3-D computational codes based on SIMPLE algorithm adopt pressure weighted interpolation method for non-staggered grid and hybrid scheme for the convective terms. Turbulence modeling is very important for prediction of cascade flows, which are extremely complex with separation and reattachment by adverse pressure gradient. Considering computation times, $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model with wall function is used.
